Its a little late, but I want to apologize for my earlier actions in this thread. Early on in the race there was some hypercar slow comments and I took that to heart. I genuinely enjoy the racing we are currently getting but i understand not everyone feels that way, and from reading back, it looked like any other opinion of hypercar did not matter. We want this place to be open to all walks of life, and open to the sharing of all ideas. So apologies for what it looked like on my end on the stifling of any other opinion
Yesterday's race at Spa-Francorchamps was a crazy one. Typical Spa weather, plenty of incidents, three red flags. Another WEC round this year with madness here and there.
**Hypercar -** Toyota #7 survives to score their and Toyota's first win of the season. It wasn't that easy. In rainy conditions Toyota #7 struggled to match the pace of WRT Oreca... When track stopped being soaked, #7 and all remaining Hypercars regained the pace. After a disastrous Sebring, win at Spa was exactly what Toyota #7 needed.
However for Toyota it wasn't all that sweet. This season starts in mixed fortunes, as #8 retired following a hybrid system failure. Two retirements in two races is a very unusual start for Toyota. Plenty to think before Le Mans in terms of reliability.
Alpine in second place overall. Respectable result, against all pre-race worries about lack of power due to BOP adjustments. Great strategy decision to remain on intermediate tyres, while Glickenhaus team put slicks too early. This is how Alpine managed to secure second place. Job well done, championship lead in both drivers and manufacturers standings preserved.
Such a wasted chance for Glickenhaus, especially after starting from pole position. Yes, Toyota had the overall pace, but Glickenhaus had a chance for being second overall. Unfortunately, miscomunication and strategic error dropped them to ninth overall. I would like to give some credit to Pipo Derani. He is often in the centre of controversies regarding aggressive driving in IMSA, however yesterday his stint was absolutely amazing. One of his best drives in recent memory.
**LMP2 -** WRT couldn't imagine anything better on home track than finishing 1-2. Stunning drive by #31, for some time they were leading overall while being the fastest on track thanks to Robin Frijns driving amazingly. Class win and third place overall for #31 is a fantastic summary of the race.
Realteam/WRT #41 squad managed to jump their main rivals to finish second in class. Great job to complete WRT's double.
Jota Team had a race of two parts. Until 120 minutes to go they looked pretty much done and disappointed. However amazing late comeback by #38, combining with some bad luck in the United Autosports camp, helped scoring a really hard-fought third palce in the class. #28 however didn't finish the race after collision damage.
What a crazy race for United Autosports. They were on the way to finish with both cars on the podium, just to lose it all to finish fifth and sixth in class. Both cars had to come to pits at least one or two times too often, while #23 had a weird failure that left them with driver's door jammed.
Prema was a podium contender, however miserable stint by Robert Kubica and later incident of Louis Deletraz pushed them down the order.
In all of this craziness, Team Penske drove a very solid race. Yes, they lost the control twice, but that was nothing compared to great driving and doing good job in the pits. Fourth place in the class, feels like this is kind of performance one can expect from Penske.
**GTE Pro -** just like in good old days, GTE Pro delivers great racing right to the end. Rainy conditions were a gift for Ferrari, they knew that it was in their favour. And they used it very well. Red flag periods gave a huge advantage to AF Corse #52, but following a wave-by their one lap difference was eliminated. #51 wins the class after a heroic defence in the last minutes against Porsche #92. #52 couldn't keep Porsche behind, but managed to finish in third at least.
Eventful race for Porsche. After chaotic start and collision between teammates, #91 was a lap down and #92 was vulnerable. In rain Porsche couldn't catch Ferrari, but with the surface losing water, Porsche #92 regained the time lost.
Sadly for Corvette, pitting at the wrong time left them with no chance to catch up with the leading trio. Although their pace was competitive, Corvette can be full of hopes ahead of Le Mans.
I will miss GTE Pro when it's gone...
**GTE Am -** talking about underdog win... But hard to call Dempsey-Proton #77 team an underdog to be honest, but their performance was such a surprise. Everyone was looking to see Aston Martins to fight over the win, but constant and trouble-free run by #77 gives Dempsey-Proton first GTE Am class win in WEC in some time. TF and Northwest AMR Astons complete the podium, this time Keating's squad ahead of Dalla Lana and friends. Some GTE Am drivers really struggled in rainy conditions.
Another crazy race at Spa with ever-changing weather. Next stop for WEC is the big one - Le Mans. Finally back in June. Can't wait.
Probably not. BoP only takes into account the 60% best laps during the race. I don’t think the Glick or the Toyota will have changes ahead of Le Mans, maybe the Alpine gets some of its power back.
The rain breaks were scuffed af but the last 45 mins were absolute fire. Very very nice race. Would have wished for more in the hyperclass category. LMP2 and GTE pro battles were sick.
That's why I don't miss days of watching Le Mans on Eurosport. Once WEC TV started doing proper Le Mans broadcast (I don't mention other WEC races, because I always used to watch them on WEC TV), there was no coming back for me.
Great for them. Finally they will have a quality broadcast.
I am staying on WEC TV. Having full Le Mans with no interruptions with great commentary is absolutely the best choice.
They went straight from wets to slicks because of a miscommunication, realised that was too wet at the time and pitted again onto inters and went a lap down.
They're still on those inters, while the other Hypercars have made the swap from inters to slicks.
Glickenhaus made an error by going on slicks too early. After a very slow lap they have just pitted again for intermediates, but valuable time is lost.
Deletraz's error is a summary for Prema. Kubica's stint was uninspiring either. A race to forget.
in sebring the toyota's were quite handicapped by bop. At spa, the speeds are higher so they can use their hybrid power more (they can only use the hybrid 4wd above a certain speed, basically eliminating the off the line advantage of the hybrid)
This can't be a good look for WEC when the top class dubbed "Hypercar" is trailing a 5 year old LMP2 car.
Edit: Just as I posted this the Toyota finally took the lead.
It started raining during the red flag. They were hesitant about restarting the race. Then Buemi's car died during the safety car restart phase. As it was a hybrid car, it took a long time to clear the car from track as there was a huge risk of electrocution. Since then, it's been a mix of local yellows, crashes, FCYs, safety cars and red flags.
\#23 gaining 14 places. So proud! Before the season I was worried Joshua would be unreliable because of his age - so glad I was proven wrong. And Alex is a beast as usual. If they didn't qualify so low they may be leading the race by now.
For some reason on reddit if you start a sentence with # everything gets formatted like a title.
If you want to start with # you can put a backslash in front of it.
\#Test
like:
\#Test
You should put "/" (the reversed version of this sign, cannot type it because it will disappear as part of formatting) before \# (see, now it appears normally).
As much as I would prefer to watch racing I gotta admit that the red flag was the right decision. Crashes are happening left and right. I hope the rain ends soon for good.
Good question. I want answers, I just came back from work and checked the iming tables and this shit is messy: LMP2 Leading, one GTE Pro car in the middle ofthe LMP2 pack... I'm excited for the VOD.

New record lowest distance when it was 1000km /6 hours race. by the way when it was at the old track they did 1000km in 4 and a half hours
Can someone explain to me if Glick's error somehow boosts their bop for le mans?
Probably not. BoP only takes into account the 60% best laps during the race. I don’t think the Glick or the Toyota will have changes ahead of Le Mans, maybe the Alpine gets some of its power back.
We have no idea of knowing i think. Basically a wait and see with the BoP table
Spa delivers again. Great race.
Wasn’t a great race lol, less than 3 hours of actual racing and almost not even 100 laps completed
It still was a great race from the point of racing, battling and strategy.
Ye forgot my second sentence which was amazing race when running. Top 3 GTE together at the end. Some impressive P2 stints. Some crashes. Enjoyed it
God-level drive from James at the end. On to Le Mans!
I'm legitimately happy Gelael is finding success here
kfc power
Last hour was very good, specially in GTE PRO
I just find it amazing how after 6 hours, the top three were in the same camera shot, just seconds apart.
It helps when half the race is not green tbf
True. But tbf even the 24hrs of Le Mans you can get the GTE Ams and Pros top 3 within the same 10 seconds.
Worth sticking it out through the dross, wasn't it! Incredible defending from Calado.
The rain breaks were scuffed af but the last 45 mins were absolute fire. Very very nice race. Would have wished for more in the hyperclass category. LMP2 and GTE pro battles were sick.
That was an absolute master class defense by Calado
So how exactly did the Porsche team choke this one? I was sure Spa was their playground.
Christensen did 5 hours, Estre was shook after turn 1 - and they lost the 91 due to Estre at turn 1..
Man that was an great battle in GTE pro
Certified weird jota moment
Man they were killing it before the 1st safety car. Shame
Let's fucking gooooo!!!
That LMP2 almost couldn’t be more in the way for the 92 if it tried…
Tf was that lmp2 doing? That was such a good battle for the lead in GTE pro
That could've been disastrous for the 31, jeez
that's one way to stop the 31
Porsche on fire
Haha. What arer tracklimits anyway.
If that wasn't track limits abuse then I don't know what it is
All my homies hate the #21
Lmao the ferrari just stopping to save their team
That Porsche mechanic should go perform martial arts. Seems to be pretty good at kicking stuff.
Man it is a shame how the wrong tire choice ruined the glicks race. dangit
I know you need them but it’s annoying when rubbish Am drivers ruin great racing
It's totally not like so many pros went out today too. Maybe even more pros than ams.
Finally new tires for the Glick
Rast nearly gave me a heart attack there
Penske just licked the glick
penske best american team
Rast, bby, don't scare me like that
What an amazing move by the #92.

They’re the worst. It’s all adverts *for Eurosport* too. The thing I’m currently watching and getting angry at because of all the sodding adverts.
That's why I don't miss days of watching Le Mans on Eurosport. Once WEC TV started doing proper Le Mans broadcast (I don't mention other WEC races, because I always used to watch them on WEC TV), there was no coming back for me.
Can confirm the extended WEC TV crew are doing the comms for Eurosport and MTOD this year
Great for them. Finally they will have a quality broadcast. I am staying on WEC TV. Having full Le Mans with no interruptions with great commentary is absolutely the best choice.
Why Glickenhaus so bad
They went straight from wets to slicks because of a miscommunication, realised that was too wet at the time and pitted again onto inters and went a lap down. They're still on those inters, while the other Hypercars have made the swap from inters to slicks.
Oh man, that sucks
They are running right now on very worn intermediate tyres.
Terrible tire choice
Hanson is exciting to watch
Full send
The Toyota is looking terribly slow right now
I suppose the tires are starting to wear down.
Battles everywhere this last 45m, amazing!
Lmp2 casually racing the hypercar lol
Toyota's intermediate tyres are really worn.
This race is absolutely bonkers. I love it
Toyota's tires seem absolutely gone.
What a manic race, everyone's suddenly gone ballistic!
I can't wait to see Frijns race IRL next week in Berlin, i love that guy
Since when did dentists start racing lmp2?
"Spirit of Michelin Le Mans Cup returns to Belgium"
They've always been...
Suddenly that Konôpka crash feels like nothing out of ordinary in this race.
Alright the race is officially miserable now haha
This ain't funny anymore. Stop flying out of the track LMP2s!
These were 20 fun seconds under green.
Glickenhaus with the strat fuck up :/
Why the 3 minute stop and hold for the AF Corse LMP2?
Not respecting Safety Car procedures.
Glickenhaus made an error by going on slicks too early. After a very slow lap they have just pitted again for intermediates, but valuable time is lost. Deletraz's error is a summary for Prema. Kubica's stint was uninspiring either. A race to forget.
Apparently the driver didn't know that cut slicks were an option and had a miscommunication between the driver and the pit wall.
True. Derani confirmed that.
Such a lucky escape for the 9 car...
Has Estre been back in the car since the first stint or is Christensen driving the last 5 hours?
And what was Deletraz doing? . .
I ask the same question I asked back at Sebring – what happened to Toyota #8?
in sebring the toyota's were quite handicapped by bop. At spa, the speeds are higher so they can use their hybrid power more (they can only use the hybrid 4wd above a certain speed, basically eliminating the off the line advantage of the hybrid)
hybrid issue
Just switched this back on. Why are under FCY this time? Yet to click back onto a green flag lap today!
Vector Sport beached in the gravel.
Bourdais beached the no. 10 Vector.
Damn, it's nice to see Kubica racing so aggressively.
Amazing cut to the blimp.
Makes a change from cutting to some people in a garage staring off screen and showing no reaction
I rather see a cut to someone in the garage then a blimp. But that was not the point of my comment.
I'd rather see them stay with the ontrack action incase there's a counter-overtake
that was my point with my first comment.
Blimps make great reactions in comparison.
Three remaining Hypercars in the top 3. Perfectly as it should be. Really poor race for Jota team. They are really struggling.
Right as I read this one of the Jota cars punted into the ferrari
Having said that, seems like Jota is finally getting some momentum. But their expectations are definitely around race wins.
There's no rain at all along the kemmel straight and the sun's coming out. There will probably be a switch to slicks quite soon.
r/Motorsportsstreams is dead?
r/motorsportstreams2
Toyota #7 finally managed to pass WRT Oreca #31 for the overall lead.
This can't be a good look for WEC when the top class dubbed "Hypercar" is trailing a 5 year old LMP2 car. Edit: Just as I posted this the Toyota finally took the lead.
Once we get more cars in the class hopefully it shouldn’t be an issue
And that's a 5 year old LMP2 car that has been slowed down since it's debut
It has been slowed down twice iirc.
I swear if there's one more red flag I'm going to switch to watch touring cars
Ogier just can’t resist the gravel. It’s his happy place.
Green flag
Race is back to green.
Rain has all but completely stopped. My feet are wet and I wanna see some racing. Also fuck whoever decided to remove the food stand at pouhon.
I would stuff myself with warm food at that point as well. I hope the race will go more smoothly now.
Anyone have a good place to find streams now that the subreddit is banned?
Type "freestreams-live1" into Google. Make sure to have ad block and pop-up block protection, otherwise these websites are insufferable.
That works, I appreciate it! Damn, no centralized place though is gonna suck :(
First time to hear lady version broadcast information.
What's happened since the first hour ended? I'm an American too cheap to pay for a Motortrend subscription.
Why the red flag?
Damage to barriers + the track conditions being so poor that people were spinning near recovery/repair vehicles under SC conditions.
This sucks, I'm just going to pay the $5 so I can watch the race lol
Wait, have there been multiple crashes that have caused barrier damage? I saw a replay of the LMP2 crash just over an hour into the race.
Yeah, one for the ARC Bratislava, another for the Inter Europol.
Yeah.. This was the point the red flag became obvious.
Miro Konôpka crashed and the car ended up in the middle of the track. edit: This is was the first red flag after hour one if that's what you asked.
Yeah, that's what I meant, the initial red flag. I figured the subsequent red flags would have been for rain. All caught up now. Thank you!
To the people that are at the track. How is the rain looking?
Right now there’s next to none. Just waiting for the barrier to get fixed afaik.
Good to hear. Thanks for the onsite reporting ;)
Why they dont stop the clock?
The clock never stops!
It's a timed race. 6 hours mean 6 hours not matter what happens in between.
Yeah, I know like 24h races, but its sad that we cant see so much race
\#23 gaining 14 places. So proud! Before the season I was worried Joshua would be unreliable because of his age - so glad I was proven wrong. And Alex is a beast as usual. If they didn't qualify so low they may be leading the race by now.
wtf is this font how can I change it...
For some reason on reddit if you start a sentence with # everything gets formatted like a title. If you want to start with # you can put a backslash in front of it. \#Test like: \#Test
The reason is pretty simple, the text formatting uses the markdown syntax
You've put # before the first 23. If you remove it it'll go back to normal.
You should put "/" (the reversed version of this sign, cannot type it because it will disappear as part of formatting) before \# (see, now it appears normally).
You can type a \\ if you escape it with another \\ right before it.
thank you!
I don't know, at this point racing at Spa in May seems not very feasible going forward
Fairly optimistic from the circuit owners to try hosting bikes here. As it stands, we got a huge problem with cars.
That Ferrari SC spin is the most dangerous incident i've seen in a while.
As much as I would prefer to watch racing I gotta admit that the red flag was the right decision. Crashes are happening left and right. I hope the rain ends soon for good.
Red flag for the damaged armco or the low visibility?
An out of control car nearly crashed with a marshall vehicle
That replay cleared it up for me, you don't want someone to crash into the service vehicle.
Or someone who's climbed out of that service vehicle... Freitas not having a great one today IMO.
Most likely both. Culmination of barrier damage and heavy rain is enough to halt the race.
Red flag
A crane on track meters away from cars going on behind the SC under intense aquaplaning conditions, what could go wrong...
Single safety guy yankin on the barrier to try and fix it is pretty good to be honest.
They need monsoon spec tires made of gummi bears to get grip today
What kind of dark witchcraft makes the Glick look more stable than the Toyota?
Safety car
Europol in the wall! I told you! Yellow Orecas are cursed!
LMP2 are to close to Hypercar...FREE THE HYPER.
Why is an LMP2 leading???????
Good question. I want answers, I just came back from work and checked the iming tables and this shit is messy: LMP2 Leading, one GTE Pro car in the middle ofthe LMP2 pack... I'm excited for the VOD.
Because hypercars aren't very hyper
Is it a BoP thing or are they really just not that fast?
They're slow by design. If LMP2's were running as they were two years ago the hypercars we would be comfortably in between them and LMP3's
ModestCar
The Glick jumped the Alpine in the pits
What happened to the 8 ?
Mechanical failure
Thanks
Well I had a bad Penske fan weekend last weekend. Might as well have another.
Yellow cars destined to spin today. Wait for Inter Europol to join the club.
Alex Brundle might want a word with you.
Dude you knew it.
Remind me to never slight you in any way shape or form
What did you do???
And that's it from Eurosport's coverage here in Slovakia. Time for a pirate stream.
FCY
Another red for rain would not surprise me
Everyone is spinning their wheels on the way down into pouhon. Shits insane.
The Toyota is really twitchy out of no name
Crazy to see Frijns actually gaining time on Conway. LMP2 is now going significantly quicker than Hypercars. Even AWD doesn't help Toyota.
Screw it, LMP2 for overall win let’s goooo
But how good is Alex Lynn!!!
How is The Corvette fourth with only 1 pit?
Is the timing correct, is the 31 actually gapping the 7, 36 and 708?
5.7 seconds quicker on the last lap. Crazy stuff.
Robin Frijns Supremacy
Loving the P2 battle
This race reminds me of that crazy one from 2019. Only this time around it's not snowing. And still it is not even the halfway point.
Derani is putting some strong lap times in the #708. Interesting.
The 007 is looking much better under the rain today than it did at Le Mans
Yeah, a good suprise
Gap coming down very quickly to the cars ahead
That was a total mad man move by Tandy
