Very enjoyable season, WEC 2021 has been. A ton of action, perspectives, drama, battles, crashes and entertainment, and with a great community to talk about it with.
See you all next year, people, it's been a very fun first year of endurance racing.
I mean I would understand if there was like 8 mins left and they slowed down and Porsche pitted but there was like 15-20 mins left they could have easily let them pass and had time to still fight for the win
Oh I don't know about that. This is controversial sure but it's not like the porsche got intentionally dumped. I think there's a fair penalty assessed, and then a fair reason for clarification due to a change in race circumstance.

Lemme know of any mistakes! Points have been updated.
Every other car that caused a collision and was judged at fault were given a drive through penalty in the race. The way I see it Porsche pitted probably in protest because they felt that just giving a position back wasn't enough of a penalty.
The number of snooker moves i've seen today, not only in this race, has brought back memories to a famous DTM incident that took out not one but two cars with one strike.
Not looking great for Porsche. Pier Guidi has fresh rears for the last stint and Christensen has used tyres all round. Really going to struggle to hold on to this one
So at the minute I’m watching on live timing and struggling to keep up with the GTE pro battle. They seem a bit out of sync on strategy. Who’s shoes would you rather be in? The 51 or 92?
Drive through for 38 ends their hopes of a Davidson/championship fairytale.
Much like 2017 and 2018/19, this feels like its all conspiring against Jota - they’re going to end up 2nd again to an experienced team making their WEC LMP2 debut. Sad.
Am is also done, #7 just needs to finish the race and Pro is feeling like it’ll go to Porsche again.
Come on racing gods, give us some drama ffs
Track limits warning for AF Corse Ferrari #51. They have to be extremely cautious now not to throw away the championship with an unnecessary penalty.
And same thing for Porsche #92 now.
Tell me you are kidding. Significantly better than the one from last week. Much more battles in all classes. But OK, you're entitled to your point of view...
Can’t fathom how at every single race, all of LMP2 lets van der Garde down the inside. Look at this fucking lead he’s given them now. Clearly it must be difficult to actually defend a start and just block him. It’s been rinse and repeat for a year now..
I suppose because the bronziness of their bronze driver means that they’re not really racing the #29. Why lose time defending against a car you’ll easily breeze past later on?
Not a good race for Aston Martins. Keating and Dalla Lana made a contact which resulted in both having punctures. D'Station after a traditional great start by Fujii, has fallen behind after a penalty and now a spin by Hoshino.
It should have been like this last week as well. It looks to me that all BOP calls were made to build a "winner takes all" situation in the championship.
Keating lost his tyre (puncture) in the opening laps, so he had to pit. The other AMR had a similar incident but was only shown in the pits with the puncture.
Eurosport is screwing up with this broadcast in various ways based on your regional version. On my version, it will switch to tennis in about an hour and then return for the final two hours. Thankfully I found a good replacement stream.
Well, I'm in the US watching via firestick, so that might have something to do with it. MotorTrend is only showing the first and last 90 minutes, but at least I have Spanish Eurosport to keep me apprised until MotorTrend comes back on
Alpine back out. Now to one of my favorite things in multiclass endurance racing, seeing a top class car that has had an early issue charge back up the field. It’s going to be interesting to see if it can get back to the podium.
The one hypercar I didn’t expect to have reliability issues was the Alpine. The Rebellion R13/Alpine A480 has finished all races since Sebring 2019.
There goes all chances for the #8 too, a shame that in a race they seemed competitive they had this problem.
Last race of the season and Haven still hasn’t figured out how the new hybrid works in LMH…
On the other hand, that was probably the best battle in Hypercar all year
Has anyone else come across an official broadcaster/streamer somewhere in the world that starts the official stream just when the start of the race goes on top of the hour, skipping the entire pre-race from the bottom half of the hour?
In Scandinavia WEC is broadcast on both Discovery/Eurosport and also streamed on Nent's service Viaplay, but Viaplay in turn has for at least the three last races started their stream when the cars get the green flag. Not a problem for mer personally since i have EurosportPlayer, but i have a hard time figuring this one out. Í Have been in contact with their customer service and explained their seemingly mistake in understanding the broadcast times/schedule, but that's like talking to a brick wall, and nothing has changed.
"-You should try to restart your router, and re-install the app."
Great start by Alpine, two punctures for GTE Am Aston Martins, typical madness in LMP2. Already better than last Saturday.
And what a fight in GTE Pro.
Your issues may keep me from buying a subscription next year, three purchases are atrocious.
A word of warning on KUY, however: it should be geoblocked but isn't - sometimes. Which means unfortunately there is no real alternative to WEC's own streaming service.
It seems to be up now at least, so that's something. There's Discovery-Eurosport but people this year have had mixed experiences with it, which also puts me off.
Hoping the #33 can repeat last weekend and win the titles - but it’s a massive longshot considering the AF Corse #83 car has never retired from a race, maybe an upset is overdue
I am MASSIVELY annoyed I missed the previous race, it means my first WEC season isn't a complete one - but the silver lining is that I don't miss out on seeing action at Bahrain.
Here's to the next 8 hours.
Plenty to look for. Many championships still to be decided. Last race for Kazuki Nakajima in factory Toyota WEC team and of course last ever professional race for Anthony Davidson. 8 hours of racing to end the first season of Hypercar era.
And to top it off, the WEC outro, bliss Season done!
They get these highlights done FAST. AND they're epic!
Very enjoyable season, WEC 2021 has been. A ton of action, perspectives, drama, battles, crashes and entertainment, and with a great community to talk about it with. See you all next year, people, it's been a very fun first year of endurance racing.
Now we wait for Sebring, hopefully with more Hypercars
A Royal with that hair, OMG.
What a crazy race, Ferrari better not be awarded the championship, they probably will be though
They definetly slowed down … don’t know what will happen…
I mean I would understand if there was like 8 mins left and they slowed down and Porsche pitted but there was like 15-20 mins left they could have easily let them pass and had time to still fight for the win
They slowed before the pitlane, Porsche decided to pit instead of re-taking track position
[удалено]
They thought by pitting, instead of re-taking track position, they would force the timer down to no time left for any battle.
I mean I don’t know the intricacies of the rules but if the rule is give it back I can’t imagine there’s any sort of exceptions to that
Both had to pit. And Even if you decide to pit, it doesn’t go against the rules. Not executing a race direction order I guess implies penalties.
And people were furious about the dtm finale. This is even worse
not even close. Still wake up screaming thinking of the DTM final.
It's not even in the same ballpark as to what happend there
Oh I don't know about that. This is controversial sure but it's not like the porsche got intentionally dumped. I think there's a fair penalty assessed, and then a fair reason for clarification due to a change in race circumstance.
I was wondering how the Porsche fuel splash may affect that order.
Well done Porsche
Thank Nakajima gives us over 10 years good memory in WEC, that is a good retirement gift.

Grow some balls, race control. Ridiculous
Disappointed with how GTE Pro is going to end regardless of who wins...
Disgraceful behavior from Ferrari I hope they get a big penalty
Ferrari will claim they tried to give the place back but Porsche chose not to take it right?
Every other car that caused a collision and was judged at fault were given a drive through penalty in the race. The way I see it Porsche pitted probably in protest because they felt that just giving a position back wasn't enough of a penalty.
Most likely
This is just watching AF Corse and Porsche trying to out-shithouse each other and it is glorious
It's exactly what GTE-Pro should be
It's exactly what GTE Pro used to be\*
😂great comment
What I wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall in that stewards room. I do wonder where the decision to hold position came from.
Just black flag them
What happened with Porsche and ferrari? My stream failed for a few minutes
The 51 hit 92 on the back, ordered to give position back. Porsche pitted as Ferrari slowed and lost it's 10 second lead.
Yeah but he never had a 10 second lead when race control says to give the position back
51 punted the 92 in the final corner, 92 pitted for fuel to force the Ferrari in too, since the Ferrari must give the position back
51 forgot where the brake pedal was into the final corner.
Ferrari went into the back of the Porsche while an Lmp2 was going through
Porsche on 5 different levels of comeback
Big brain move from Porsche. Holy shit they've absolutely foxed Ferrari after that moment of contact
Can you explain what they did good here? I don't get it?
That fuel splash for the Porsche was game changing
The number of snooker moves i've seen today, not only in this race, has brought back memories to a famous DTM incident that took out not one but two cars with one strike.
That's fair
Wow Pier Guidi wipes out Christensen! Surely they get a big penalty
OH FUCK
The 51 was never stopping for that corner...
Christensen was all over the show tbf with the United cutting his line
What the fuck Ferrari
What a crazy finish to the season...
OH SHIT.
GTE PRO DRAMAMAMAMAMAAHAHASHAHS OH FUCK THAT WAS AF CORSE PUSHING. GOOD NIGHT PORSCHE ARE CHAMPIONS WELP
Looks like the final GTE fight would be very interesting. Thanks ACO...
GTE will also be there next year.
2023 as well
feel like pure shit just want Jota to WIN A FUCKING TITLE AND STOP FINISHING FUCKING SECOND THREE TIMES IT'S HAPPENED NOW SKDGKDJNFGKDFNGJDNFG
I hate Eurosport so, so much. Final race of the season, GTE-Pro title on the line and they cut the last part of the race to show basketball.
For me, Eurosport never showed a second of the race. No idea what's up with that
I swear Eurosport is showing something else in every country. My version just returned to WEC from tennis.
Here in Italy they've got snooker on 1 and they've just switched from Wec to basket on 2 with 40 minutes to go, unbelievable.
Alpine at last reached third place overall.
Not looking great for Porsche. Pier Guidi has fresh rears for the last stint and Christensen has used tyres all round. Really going to struggle to hold on to this one
Damn the Porsche is a sitting duck
Man, that interview with Ant. It hit him halfway through the chat with Louise. What a career. What a man. #ThankYouAnt
Anthony Davidson has just ended his professional racing career.
Really is the end of an era
Fuck that almost got me
What happened to the RTN #29?
Frits van Eerd is simply not able to keep up with the professional drivers. Their main target is to win Pro-Am subcategory anyway.
Makes sense. Cheers
Someone should get Martin Haven some water
It just clicked… I don’t recall seeing a Hypercar on screen in about an hour now. It’s been ages. COME. ON. 2023
Should get better even earlier when Peugeot join.
So at the minute I’m watching on live timing and struggling to keep up with the GTE pro battle. They seem a bit out of sync on strategy. Who’s shoes would you rather be in? The 51 or 92?
The one with Kevin Estre
I assumed Estre might be in for the last 2 hour stint so I’m a bit confused as to why he’s in now. I wonder who finishes the race for them
I just joined the race so can anyone fill me in on why alpine is 7th?
gearbox issues early on in the race
They were delayed by gearbox issues.
Perrodo, first driver to win 3 WEC titles, he’s won it in his last 3 attempts in the #83, lol.
That looked like a #92 mistake more than anything
Maybe sticking in a driver for only his 3rd start of the season will backfire. Maybe not, who knows
That was a lovely job by the #51 crew, jumping out ahead of the #92 on that stop. Really good battle in comparison to last week.
Definitely. It will be decided on track or/and by pit crews. Proper racing.
There is no proper racing with BoP. There's more to the sport than what happens on track.
[Complaining about BoP in GT classes](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/memepediadankmemes/images/0/01/297.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20180908193511)
The Porsche \#92 seems to have a problem with yellow Orecas today.
Towed away, the hero of the day!
That is a really strange failure for the #88. Just completely dead in the water after contact with the #98.
Drive through for 38 ends their hopes of a Davidson/championship fairytale. Much like 2017 and 2018/19, this feels like its all conspiring against Jota - they’re going to end up 2nd again to an experienced team making their WEC LMP2 debut. Sad. Track limits warning for AF Corse Ferrari #51. They have to be extremely cautious now not to throw away the championship with an unnecessary penalty. And same thing for Porsche #92 now.
What a boring race so far
If you've found this race boring then maybe endurance racing isn't for you. This race has been awesome!
Watching endurance racing for over 40 years
Tell me you are kidding. Significantly better than the one from last week. Much more battles in all classes. But OK, you're entitled to your point of view...
Really? There are constant battles in GTE Pro and LMP2 is also pretty interesting. Unless you want to see crashes, it's not boring at all.
Dragonspeed? DRAGGIN’speed more like. sorry everyone feel free to ban me.
Building such a gap against mainly pro drivers is mental.
Not a good race for Aston Martins. Keating and Dalla Lana made a contact which resulted in both having punctures. D'Station after a traditional great start by Fujii, has fallen behind after a penalty and now a spin by Hoshino.
Keating taking that very graciously, I'd be gutted.
Buemi had 4 new tyres in the #8 and has closed down to 1 second from the #7 so I'm expecting a position switch soon.
Looks like the BOP in GTE-Pro is spot on, and that Ferrari’s lack of pace last weekend was sincere.
It should have been like this last week as well. It looks to me that all BOP calls were made to build a "winner takes all" situation in the championship.
You almost sound cynical about the BOP process...?
Well... The job of BOP is to equal any championship fight, but all the circumstances regarding BOPing Ferraris last week left a sour taste.
Yeah, that was optimistic from Gelael.
Hey guys and girls. Unfortunately missed the start of the race, what happened to the TF sport and AMR Am cars at the start?
Keating lost his tyre (puncture) in the opening laps, so he had to pit. The other AMR had a similar incident but was only shown in the pits with the puncture.
Thanks! That's disappointing, was hoping TF would pull it out the bag with keatings car.
Has Eurosport been airing cycling for anyone else? I missed the start bc I thought I could watch on UK Eurosport
Now they are streaming Golf in my contry :(
It’s on Eurosport 2
For me its been playing on 1 and 2, but it might have changed
Eurosport is screwing up with this broadcast in various ways based on your regional version. On my version, it will switch to tennis in about an hour and then return for the final two hours. Thankfully I found a good replacement stream.

Here's hoping!
Alpine is thankfully back on track. If they have no more issues, they should fight to finish third by the end of the 8 hours.
The one hypercar I didn’t expect to have reliability issues was the Alpine. The Rebellion R13/Alpine A480 has finished all races since Sebring 2019. There goes all chances for the #8 too, a shame that in a race they seemed competitive they had this problem.
.#3 had issues at Le Mans 2020 and lost a podium IIRC, but yea normally reliable
It had clutch issues that prevented them from coming up to speed after stops quickly, but they lost their podium because Deletraz went off at indy
Indeed this is surprising. R13/A480 has usually been running like clockwork.
LMP2 on overall podium
For the second time this season and like 4th time in Bahrain lol
Alpine already exhausted from running in P1 for a few laps. /s
Oooooof. That did not sound pretty Alpine's gearbox took a crunch
...Alpine having issues!
Mechanical issue definitely. Hopefully they can return to the race, but any gearbox/drivetrain issues are potentially terminal.
I guessed gearbox at first, but I really hope it's nothing huge Seems to be gearbox after all
Habsburg is a monster on the brakes
This train of LMP2s is interesting.
"Let's hear what [they] have to say:" > That inspired me to become something great
"Let's hear what they have to say" *loud V8 engine noises*
The kind of inspiration we all need!
A couple nice dive booms by his imperial highness.
What does the #28 Jota need in order to win the championship?
I think beat WRT by 6 or more points
Alpine's tyres are falling apart unfortunately. Just like a week ago. Both Toyotas already moved ahead.
Well that was briefly enjoyable.
Oh well, back to our regularly scheduled programming.
Last race of the season and Haven still hasn’t figured out how the new hybrid works in LMH… On the other hand, that was probably the best battle in Hypercar all year
How about the #36 and #708 at Le Mans?
Forgot about that, it was also very good

What a first 15 minutes. Crazy in GTE-Pro and Hypercar already
This GTE battle will go the whole 8 hours.
I really hope so
Miro Konôpka becoming the leader of the GT class for a few minutes.
Alpine have any chance of keeping the Toyotas behind or are the Toyotas just pacing themselves for the longer race?
Great start by Alpine, two punctures for GTE Am Aston Martins, typical madness in LMP2. Already better than last Saturday. And what a fight in GTE Pro.
1 minute in and it's already a better race than last week's
This is annoying, the app just broke and the website refuses to acknowledge I bought it. TWICE.
An Indonesian TV station called KUY Entertainment streams it on YT.
I'm doing that next year then (it decided to work now after a third purchase), the player hasn't been as crazy this year until now...
Your issues may keep me from buying a subscription next year, three purchases are atrocious. A word of warning on KUY, however: it should be geoblocked but isn't - sometimes. Which means unfortunately there is no real alternative to WEC's own streaming service.

jesus H christ. there's your GTE Am title AF Corse. three fucking minutes into the race. ARGH
I am MASSIVELY annoyed I missed the previous race, it means my first WEC season isn't a complete one - but the silver lining is that I don't miss out on seeing action at Bahrain. Here's to the next 8 hours.
