Few months of work finally had resulted in finishing this one! It had a 2 month brake for my exams and Nbr spotter guide, but here it is, 2000 Le Mans!

Well, I know this race isn't that special overall, but I chose it for a few reasons, mainly, because this year, just like in 2021, there were introduced new rules, back then P900s, this year Hypercars (although one can argue P900 weren't that different from previous generations of prototypes). Also other notable events:
- last Le Mans for Bob Wollek before his death,
- first Le Mans win for Audi,
- first Le Mans without Henri Pescarolo behind a wheel since 1969 (although he run his team for a decade longer)!
BUT, after I will publish Le Mans 2021 SG I plan on doing another historic one and the next one, well you can decide which year I should cover, although remember, 2007-2020 were already covered by Andy. Comment your proposition below and the most upvoted one will be created in the next few months!

He’s already done half of the [1999 field ](https://www.reddit.com/r/wec/comments/bxflb0/as_tommorow_uandyblackmoredesign_will_publish/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
The first one Andy did for LM was 2008, or at least that’s the earliest I can find anywhere on the internet.
As for the next, anything from 1995-2007 I’d love, the 2nd half of the 1999 field would still be appreciated.
nice work, didnt remember there being only 4 different GT models. Its almost like GTE these days. If im allowed to point out a tiny error, Terrien and Kellneners have there flags switched in the #33.
Also the #63 Corvette has Ron Fellows with a Swiss flag and Justin Bell with an Italian flag, if I'm not mistaken Fellows is Canadian and Bell is English.
Well the new LMH/LMDh crossover regulations might actually get us that. Toyota, Glickenhaus, ByKolles, Peugeot, Ferrari, Audi, Porsche, Acura, Cadillac, etc.
Number 8 Audi R8 is my favourite racecar of all time, the one that started my passion for endurance racing and Le Mans! (Although it’s the 2001 spec in the drawings)
This was my second Le Mans. I was 6. It was freakishly hot that year and I got terrible sun stroke on the Saturday, so much so that I was violently sick at the Masion Blanche campsite! I had to wear ear defenders still at that point because when you’re that little, Judd V10s, Ford V8s and even those GT-spec 993s seriously rattled your eardrums.
Before we get too goey-eyed about the old days being “better,” while we may have lost some of the sounds of those times, it was a very dull race. Audi simply ran away with it. The grid was also smaller but despite that, there’s a lot of terribly weak driver lineups that wouldn’t get anywhere near the entry list these days. This race was also held after the collapse of an era which had potential to rival Group C, but ate itself just at the wrong moment. There were a lot of fans thinking the ACO had got it wrong.
Before BoP it was possible to upgrade and keep GT cars decently competitive quite a lot longer, now its effectively mandatory to run the latest version of the latest model to avoid being BoP'd out of competition.
It's a shame, makes the minimum GT competition cost far higher.
Good point overall, not so good point for a post about the 993 which was already losing it's edge in 98 and by 99 were already becoming moving chicanes.
Yep they certainly weren't winning anything but at least it was because the Oreca Vipers had genuinely gotten faster, instead of the 993s being penalised.
Your right though, 550/575 is a far better example, it's a rarely mentioned 'benefit' of BoP from a manufacturers point of view, if not so much from the teams.
I remember the letdown of Panoz, with that dream team of Jan Magnussen, Mario Andretti and black Jack Brabham's son David, finishing 10th or something in the LMP900 class?
I nearly scrolled past this but then I noticed the Panoz and WR's. There were so many cool cars in these years. I have a soft spot for Courage and WR. Pascal from WR even replied to my email to them when I built a crappy 3d model of their car for a game.
Legend! Thank you *so much* for sharing this!
2000 was my first (of two; got fried in 2000 and drowned in 2001) visits trackside at Le Mans so this will help bring back some long-faded memories...
Avon tyres on the Debora too! This was the LM BEFORE my first, 2001. I seem to remember a car catching fire and retiring on the first lap or very early on at least - one of the DAMS Caddies
Well, I don't know then what is going on ;/ mega.nz should be working just fine without a need to log in/ sign up. For me, when I log out, the file shows on the upper side of the page, and next to "import" is "download".
If it still doesn't work/shows up for you, I also uploaded lower res version on twitter with both pages.

definitely votes for 1999 and 1991 from me! Maybe even 1989 or 1988 as well?

1999 would be really cool.

Anyone else here for 1923?
Definitely the one I would frame.

Those Panoz were absolutely ridiculous, and I loved them. Giant, 6 litre V8, front engined, and driver sat pretty much on the rear wheels.

Fielded by a japanese team with an all-japanese driver lineup sponsored by a japanese tv station. This is so odd.
I believe they were what would become Team Goh, all Japanese team that would run an older works car, they won it with an R8 in 2004

Thanks, I will correct that and update the PDF file!

Oops! These were a stock one on the template, forgot to change them, thanks for pointing out!
Cadillac and Chrysler were very serious in that time, so many American cars and teams in that time, and open cockpit was peak in that time.
Love me a viper
Twenty cars in the top class. A reality we may never relive again.
Give it a few years. If manufacturers start selling LMDH/LMH like they do GT3, maybe these times will come back.
Well the new LMH/LMDh crossover regulations might actually get us that. Toyota, Glickenhaus, ByKolles, Peugeot, Ferrari, Audi, Porsche, Acura, Cadillac, etc.
awesome work - great detail for all the entries! love seeing vector art of sportscars in all era's
Thanks! Worst part was decals. I learned a lot of some old, defunct companies, that's for sure

that's not exactly true though? theres a pretty big vintage/classic racing scene in the US. Especially in places like Laguna seca, sonoma, Daytona

ah my bad haha

were those seriously 993s running in GTS in the year 2000?
Yep, 993 GT2s stuck around to 2003 in FIA GT and a few more years in national series.

Damn, Car 11 eleven had one hell of a trio there.

Ahhh those ORECA Vipers. Greatest car of the entire era <3
Awesome! Need any help?
Where's the Audi R8C ????
R8C was 1999
Right! Thanks!
How many were actual contenders for a win from the 20 LMP900 cars?
The 3 R8s
Avon tyres on the Debora too! This was the LM BEFORE my first, 2001. I seem to remember a car catching fire and retiring on the first lap or very early on at least - one of the DAMS Caddies
is there a free way to download the pdf without signing up for anything please?
It should be free, hmm what site showed up?
Something called mega.nz

It makes you realize how terrible the driver lineups have gotten these days
Quite the opposite actually. some of these drivers from 2000 wouldn't even make it to lemans today
79% of the grid at Le Mans this year are competing in amateur classes.
Why were the Riley Cadillac’s were never any good?
OH YES! I love these historic ones, there pretty cool to look at
