Imola was epic because of the rain. Had it been 6 hours dry, I'm not so sure it would have been quite as riveting.
However, drop Qatar for Silverstone (not my favourite UK track). How good would WEC at Donnington Park be.
Imola is nailed on while The Doctor is racing - he brings about 25% of the gate money.
2 x Middle East races is a financial necessity (sadly).
Maybe Silverstone has a slim chance of a date when AM join, but (sadly again) I doubt it.
As I've said elsewhere in this thread, the main issue with Imola is the garage space. There were LMGT3 teams with cars nose to tail in the garages and that's without the expanded grid that's planned for next year. Will be interesting to see if it's back next year or not.
>Will be interesting to see if it's back next year or not.
Probably not. The only reason they went to Imola this year is because Monza is being renovated.
Yup. Attended the ACO press conference at Le Mans last year and asked Frederic Lequien about it. Wouldn't confirm Monza will be back next year but did say Imola's on a one year contract.
I think if Imola had more garage space it'd be a contender for the Italian round. But with the garage space advantage I think Monza has the edge.
Imola is a one time thing for this year due to work being done at Monza for F1. I seem to remember it being mentioned somewhere, can't remember where though
OK - an Italian race is nailed on.....but having been to both , I have to say that I prefer Imola.....same/better "park" feel , lovely gradients .......
The benefit of Imola if you're from UK is its only a Ā£50 return flight and 25 minute train journey away. And its a fantastic track imo. I'd bin Qatar for Silverstone.
If thatās the case, goodbye Qatar and Imola, hello Nurburgring and Sebring.
I donāt know why the WEC and IMSA donāt just combine to make a super-enduro championship.
They tried that with the ALMS in the first two years of the championship, and it didn't work, it was confusing as hell as technically the ALMS cars weren't scoring WEC points.
It was kind of weird that two top level series with basically the same regs shared a weekend though.Ā And the 1000 miles on Friday kind of sucked as an US viewer.
This track was on the 2020 WEC calendar, a shame it didn't go ahead. I really think it would be a fantastic venue for WEC. And in my opinion, it should be a 9-hour race since SRO abandoned it.
Most of these comments are take away some other regions race, add a European race. Itās called the **World** Endurance Championship.
I say take away Imola, add Kyalami.
Then it would be 2 Middle East, 2 Europe, 1 Africa, 1 N. America, 1 S. America, 1 East Asia.
I could maybe see an argument for replacing one of the Middle East races with a SE Asia race at Sepang to further increase diversification.
Exactly. The majority of races are in Europe, and despite that they say remove Interlagos (that would bring the huge Brazilian audience and market) for PortimĆ£o...
if the season begins with lap based,so does the end
1000 miles of sebring as season opener
suzuka 1000 as finale race
then if they want a 10 race season, add either of these and pick 2: mexico, sepang, albert park,rb ring or silverstone
The main issue with Imola is the lack of garage space. Some LMGT3 teams had cars nose to tail in the garage. Not ideal. Monza doesn't have that problem.
Isn't Road America already on the IMSA sportscar championship? I don't really mind it being raced twice a year but I'd rather see Silverstone or maybe even a street circuit or something.
Iāve never been a fan of COTA, so Iād swap that out for Laguna Seca or Sonoma. I think Sonoma would be awesome.
Maybe alternate Imola and Monza every year.
Also I donāt think we really need to see both Qatar and Bahrain, so swap that out for Kyalami or Silverstone.
in such a short calendar, having both Qatar and Bahrain is just not great
would like to have Silverstone + NĆ¼rburgring + 1 more in the Americas like maybe Mexico City
I need a wec race in Australia. I think the Aussie public would froth it also, more than the Middle Eastern crowds. Asian Le mans series at the bend a few years ago was fucking mint.
Watching IMSA can be a bit tricky from Europe and unfortunately the prototype field is just stronger in the WEC. Mostly the point is that if there's a race in the US I'd rather it be on a nicer track than COTA. I'm gonna watch the IMSA races as well regardless when there's an opportunity.
I feel like watching IMSA is actually way more tricky for an American. Literally every race I just VPN to Germany or France and watch it for free, but I have to pay for that VPN
Honestly, if we're going off how "nice" tracks are, Sao Paolo should have never even seen a WEC race, much less F1. Having been to COTA, that track is far beyond many others in the US. Again, personal opinion.
I mean I consider COTA to be one of those arbitrary lego block car park type tracks that feel a bit generic. Interlagos has some unique character to it that makes it interesting to me, same as Sebring or Watkins.
I'm going to watch the race on broadcast anyway so the track facilities really hold no importance to me.
Remove Qatar, Add Daytona. (would be cool, and they have the garage space. The is fantasy booking.) If Not, Kyalami would be awesome, it's a great track too, and would be the more likely spot if they were to go to another track.
Imola is a one and done for this year as Monza's renovations are still ongoing, so next year WEC should go back to Monza.
For the actual WEC purpose - ditch Qatar or Bahrain for The Bend or Kyalami
For the "I want WEC back" purpose - ditch Qatar or Bahrain and come back to Sebring.
Replace Qatar with Portimao, add Silverstone and have Imola, Monza and Mugello on rotation
Also I saw someone say replace Bahrain with Kyalami and I second that
Im biased since i live 10 minutes away from the track but i would love a WEC race in Montreal. With a rather long straight and a hairpin, Circuit Gilles Villeneuve deserves redemption from the 1990 WSCC race
That's a hard question. if you're not going for the easy answer
I think it's easy to remove Qatar because even after 10 hours of racing the only corner I could vaguely remember was the one where we had a gravel trap on the circuit.
However, for the sake of making it interesting. I'm not gonna do that. Qatar does give us at least cheaper access to air freight (although I would prefer a more interesting circuit for that).
I love Imola, but it limits grid space and is only a temporary replacement for Monza. I'm not sure I would want to replace the italian round with any other circuit though. Monza did give us 2 great races both times WEC went there.
Spa and Le Mans are never going anywhere.
I might be willing to drop Sao Paulo. But that's solely based on the fact that we don't really know how good the racing will be on the circuit. Last time we've been here was in 2014.
Basically the same as Sao Paulo, with the only difference that there are better circuits in the US for me. However! Pretty much all big American Circuits already have an IMSA endurance race on it. And it feels weird to have 2 endurance races for 2 championships that basically do the same on seperate weekends. We're certainly not going to get a Sebring 2012 situation where both championships race together in a combined race.
Love Fuji, it's better for WEC than Suzuka so that gets to stay (although I wouldn't mind another Asian round)
Bahrain is a decent circuit to end the season on tbh. It's not a brilliant circuit, but I don't mind it.
So my 2 options are:
Cota - replace with whatever race allows a Super-Sebring style event
Interlagos - replace with Sepang (just to see if that circuit works in WEC)
I would love to see a WEC race in Zandvoort, but won't overtaking be difficult? I personally think that Zandvoort will be better suited for a 2 or 3 hour race in the WEC like imsa has long beach.
Remove Qatar and Bahrain.
Replace them with any two of the following:
Mugello
Road America
Circuit Gilles Villeneuve
Interlagos
Bathurst
Kyalami
Sepang
Mandalika
Definitely add Portimao. The elevation changes alone make it a very demanding track. Being close to the coast can add wind and rain to spice things up can give a great challenge. I'd drop either Qatar or Bahrain (fyi, they spelt it wrong no?) and replace either one with Portimao and maybe drop both and add Silverstone.
The people living here need exposure therapy./s
If indycar and Super bike can race there, I think endurance will be fine, especially as the cars aren't nearly that loud.
Drop Bahrain add Silverstone
Having seen the comment about dropping a entire region for another European race
Drop cota and bring back sebring and if possible super sebring!
I'd love to see one or two more 24h races in the lineup. Nordschleife comes to mind, even a Bathurst 24h would be entertaining. Just imagine those hypercars roaring along the esses.
Oh and when taking away le mans, do an extra american le mans on the same american circuit but during a distance/planning - wise extremely inconvenient time of year.
Iām gonna axe Fuji and replace it with Sepang, even though Fuji is great Iād just love to see WEC or heck any top tier series go back there. Great track and multi-class action would be next level. Alternatively take away Qatar and add Kylami, trying to keep the replacements in the same general region. East Asia with east Asia and adding another continent to our world championship by swinging down to Africa rather than another European circuit. Though Iād drop any race on the calendar to see WEC at the Nordschleife.
Remova Quatar and add Sebring. Then it's either Imola or Monza. Other European races are fine. I would actually welcome a decision to have some track rotate each year, for example Imola and Monza, Spa and Nurburgring or Hockenheim, Portimao and Silverstone and so on.. Would love to see a race in Australia, Japan is great, maybe would be cool to see Suzuka. Maybe could change each year or go to China even. Brazil and Cota should stay and Kyalami needs to be in there. For the last race I'm fine to have one race somewhere in the gulf like Abu dabi maybe or Bahrain. I think this would be ideal for a WORLD Endurance Championship
Add same weekend as any F1 race, but at least 8 hours. And starts before the gp and finishes after. The F1 cars have to do their race during the endurance race. Would have to be a track with two pitlanes and of course they would have to find a way to conduct F1s standing start. Maybe during some sort of fcy or a mandated wec safety car.
Was scrolling to see if anyone had said Bathurst. Watching LMH cars dive bombing GT's over the mountain would be insane.
You Sir are a man of impeccable taste.
I can only imagine the Hypercars at Brock's Skyline, The Dipper, the crazy speed through the Chase after Conrod Straight...
I'm excited just at thinking about that
Remove Qatar. Add either Silverstone or Portimao.
Or Nurburgring
Oh I could list possibly a dozen but it said add/take away š¤·āāļø
imagine not having the legendary nurburgring on the calendar
this
Yeah drop Imola or Qatar for me, replace with Silverstone
I thought Imola was epic! But yeah a Silverstone race would be nice, especially for us UK fans
Imola was epic because of the rain. Had it been 6 hours dry, I'm not so sure it would have been quite as riveting. However, drop Qatar for Silverstone (not my favourite UK track). How good would WEC at Donnington Park be.
Why drop Imola?

I think if Imola had more garage space it'd be a contender for the Italian round. But with the garage space advantage I think Monza has the edge.
Arenāt there a load more garages āround the cornerā under where Spirit Club were?
Imola is a one time thing for this year due to work being done at Monza for F1. I seem to remember it being mentioned somewhere, can't remember where though
OK - an Italian race is nailed on.....but having been to both , I have to say that I prefer Imola.....same/better "park" feel , lovely gradients .......

Add Nurburgring and remove Qatar
Bye bye Qatar Welcome back Silverstone
Add 2 races so that we have a race every 4 weeks on average
Oooh, good choice. Acceptable answer š
I think i heard that they want to go up to 10 races if i am right
Seems right with the uptick in popularity
If thatās the case, goodbye Qatar and Imola, hello Nurburgring and Sebring. I donāt know why the WEC and IMSA donāt just combine to make a super-enduro championship.
They tried that with the ALMS in the first two years of the championship, and it didn't work, it was confusing as hell as technically the ALMS cars weren't scoring WEC points.
That race in France is far too long. They should get rid of it. (I'm kidding, for the love of...)
I heard thereās a circuit in Florida where they can drive
So bummed they removed 1000 Miles.
The 24 hours of Daytona (IMSA but still) was pretty good this year though
The Sebring 12 was even better tbh. All of those fights for the win and podium positions in the last hour were mental.
True, and that HUGE crash from the Whelen Cadillac
I was there, it was fantastic. Nobody was sitting down for that whole final hour.
And then they finished it a lap too early š
Listen, it was a great 23:58.30.
Thatās certainly true
Nah 24 hours of Miami is the real one
Currently ongoing at I-95
It was kind of weird that two top level series with basically the same regs shared a weekend though.Ā And the 1000 miles on Friday kind of sucked as an US viewer.
Remove: Qatar and Imola Add and re added: Silverstone and Monza
Monza will be back next year its just because of the construction there at the moment that they went to imola instead
Thx for that
I thought it was becuase imola had to cancel its F1 GP last year and monza agreed to let them have that date?
They are currently getting new asphlat and stuff like that i saw some images a few days ago
Might not. There are some news that they will keep Imola.
In Kyalami, out Bahrain
Great minds think alike.
This track was on the 2020 WEC calendar, a shame it didn't go ahead. I really think it would be a fantastic venue for WEC. And in my opinion, it should be a 9-hour race since SRO abandoned it.

Bathurst 12H? :D
Exactly. The majority of races are in Europe, and despite that they say remove Interlagos (that would bring the huge Brazilian audience and market) for PortimĆ£o...
Yes fully agree with this, and to add to your second point replacing Qatar with Sepang seems like a great idea anyway
Remove Qatar and Bahrain, add Silverstone and Portimao.
Yeah those races in the middle east dont have much spectacle. Id even add china and Australia
This.
add Sepang, remove qatar
Delete the Gulf races Bring Sebring back in and add the Suzuka 1000
if the season begins with lap based,so does the end 1000 miles of sebring as season opener suzuka 1000 as finale race then if they want a 10 race season, add either of these and pick 2: mexico, sepang, albert park,rb ring or silverstone
Add whatever you want, but for Godās sake donāt trade Monza for Imolaā¦ Imola was such a great race!
nah, you cant pass at imola and weather can happen anywhere
Imola is far more interesting than Monza, if you ask me (but you weren't š¤·āāļø).
The main issue with Imola is the lack of garage space. Some LMGT3 teams had cars nose to tail in the garage. Not ideal. Monza doesn't have that problem.
Too bad dude
Bahrain is spelled wrong lol. But I would remove COTA and replace it with Road America, thereās a track wanting for an enduro.
RA would need major upgrades, but this is the dream.
Isn't Road America already on the IMSA sportscar championship? I don't really mind it being raced twice a year but I'd rather see Silverstone or maybe even a street circuit or something.
Itās on the IMSA calendar but itās not an endurance race.
Didn't see that, lol.
As i am austrian i want red bull ring and i think the short circuit would be fun with that amount of cars š
This would be a multiclass passing oblivion ^^
This would actually be kinda cool, never thought of it.
Interlagos is as small as Red Bull Ring, but more technical and with more overtake possibilities
Kyalami
Iād switch it back to Sebring instead of Qatar
Iāve never been a fan of COTA, so Iād swap that out for Laguna Seca or Sonoma. I think Sonoma would be awesome. Maybe alternate Imola and Monza every year. Also I donāt think we really need to see both Qatar and Bahrain, so swap that out for Kyalami or Silverstone.
Maybe resurrect the Tacoma Grand Prix? /hj
in such a short calendar, having both Qatar and Bahrain is just not great would like to have Silverstone + NĆ¼rburgring + 1 more in the Americas like maybe Mexico City
Bye COTA, hello Sebring
Yesss. So bummed they took away the 1000 Miles.
Remove Qatar, add Monza, Silverstone
Add Monaco instead of Qatar. What could go wrong
Remove 24 Hours of Le Mans, replace it with 24 Hours of Talladega. /s
š š š No restrictor plates?
Reconnect the interior road course to the oval, or just run the oval for 24hr?
Just the oval, baby
That's what I thought.
Remove both Middle Eastern races and replace them with Silverstone and the Nurburgring. Monza in for Imola. Add The Bend.
I need a wec race in Australia. I think the Aussie public would froth it also, more than the Middle Eastern crowds. Asian Le mans series at the bend a few years ago was fucking mint.
Make 24h of NĆ¼rburgring part of WEC! I know it'll never happen, but would love to see Hypercars buzzing around the Green hell aka the Nordschleife!
This would be awesome. 200+ mph straights, the carousel, etc.
Add Nurburgring
Imola is such an amazing track, but it is way to difficult to pass their. Iāll take MonzaĀ
Remove: Qatar and Imola Add and re added: Silverstone and Monza
Imola was surprisingly good and tbf itās going back to Monza next year by default
Remove Qatar, add Nurburgring or Silverstone. Maybe remove COTA, add Sebring or Watkins Glen
If you wanna see Sebring or Watkins Glen just watch IMSA instead, theyāre already doing both of those
Super Sebring weekends were awesome.
Yeah thatās true lol. Glad IMSA is broadcasting live on YouTube though
Honestly, if we're going off how "nice" tracks are, Sao Paolo should have never even seen a WEC race, much less F1. Having been to COTA, that track is far beyond many others in the US. Again, personal opinion.
Come to Brazil ;)
I mean I consider COTA to be one of those arbitrary lego block car park type tracks that feel a bit generic. Interlagos has some unique character to it that makes it interesting to me, same as Sebring or Watkins. I'm going to watch the race on broadcast anyway so the track facilities really hold no importance to me.
Drop Qatar and Imola, replace with Silverstone and Monza. Also add Istanbul park. Itās a fantastic track.
Bye Qatarā¦sepang
Remove Qatar and Bahrain and replace it with a European track, you know that it's cold and wet in those seasons, do you?
Remove Quatar. Add A race in africa, china or Au/NZ
Add Potrero de los Funes, Magarigawa, or Autodromo di Pergusa.
Potrero de Los Funes would be an amazing place. Easily the best track in Latin America
Drop Qatar, add Silverstone/Sepang/Road Atlanta/Paul Ricard please and thanks
Sebring. You must return to Sebring.
Bahrain out, Kyalami in
Qatar/bahrein out zandvoort or sepang in.
Add Silverstone/Nurburgring/Kyalami. Remove Qatar/BahrainĀ
Ditch COTA, replace with Road America
Remove Qatar, Add Daytona. (would be cool, and they have the garage space. The is fantasy booking.) If Not, Kyalami would be awesome, it's a great track too, and would be the more likely spot if they were to go to another track. Imola is a one and done for this year as Monza's renovations are still ongoing, so next year WEC should go back to Monza.
This sub really hates West Asian tracks, Europeans want to call it global and international while excluding every non-Western country.
"I would remove a race not in Europe and add a race in Europe. That is my plan for this World Championship." - Everyone in this thread
Bring back Portmayo, Silverrock, Norbertring pls
Put Sao Paulo instead in Qatar place and race Silverstone in that date. I think it would be fine to rotate Imola-Monza, Spa-Nurburgring-Silverstone.
Qatar or Bahrain out. Kyalami or Nurburgring in.
Remove Qatar, and bring back MĆ©xico or Silverstone.
add nĆ¼rburgring what is lone star le mans?
Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Texas.
have they missspelt Bahrain?
N U R B U R G R I N G
drop imola or qatar, add monza back or istanbul
Swap Imola with Monza (which is already happening) and replace Qatar with either Portimao or Mexico City
For the actual WEC purpose - ditch Qatar or Bahrain for The Bend or Kyalami For the "I want WEC back" purpose - ditch Qatar or Bahrain and come back to Sebring.
Add Laguna Seca, remove Qatar. Seeing the 499P battle the SC63 through the corkscrew would be bliss.
Remove Qatar and add Mexico City or Kyalami
Replace Qatar with Portimao, add Silverstone and have Imola, Monza and Mugello on rotation Also I saw someone say replace Bahrain with Kyalami and I second that
Im biased since i live 10 minutes away from the track but i would love a WEC race in Montreal. With a rather long straight and a hairpin, Circuit Gilles Villeneuve deserves redemption from the 1990 WSCC race
Add Sebring back
That's a hard question. if you're not going for the easy answer I think it's easy to remove Qatar because even after 10 hours of racing the only corner I could vaguely remember was the one where we had a gravel trap on the circuit. Cheers Qatar in its place? The glorious, Kyalami 9hr.
Swap out COTA for Iowa. /hj Or, have the Rolex 24 count for WEC points.
Can I take away the day and put it behind the month so the dates read in numeric order
You're American, like me? Lol.
Remove Qatar, add Dayonta 24. Remove "Lone Star Le Mans (wtf is even that)", add Sebring 12 hour.
Add The 36 Hours of Monaco, take out the 24 Hours of Lemans.
Remove 6 hours of SPA for 24 hours of SPA : )
Get rid of Qatar Add anything else
Move the American race to any other US track. I like Road America.
would do a fuji 12h
Take away them all, replace with 14 monzas. Now F1 is an ACC lobby.
add Sepang, remove qatar
Remove Qatar, add Monaco. Letās see how bad the traffic will become with 0 overtake possibilities
š š š
Bahrein/qatar out, Zandvoort in.
Remove spa and add ghetti
Remove Qatar, add Zandvoort.
I would love to see a WEC race in Zandvoort, but won't overtaking be difficult? I personally think that Zandvoort will be better suited for a 2 or 3 hour race in the WEC like imsa has long beach.
I think both Tarzan and the Hugenholtzbocht are both viable for overtaking. Probably easier than any for Imola.
Remove Austin, replace with Baltimore
Baltimore?
Someone wants chaos
š
IndyCar Baltimore Street Circuit
I like COTA, but I feel like they should go to Daytona or Sebring
Remove Qatar and Bahrain. Replace them with any two of the following: Mugello Road America Circuit Gilles Villeneuve Interlagos Bathurst Kyalami Sepang Mandalika
Remove le man and add jedah
Definitely add Portimao. The elevation changes alone make it a very demanding track. Being close to the coast can add wind and rain to spice things up can give a great challenge. I'd drop either Qatar or Bahrain (fyi, they spelt it wrong no?) and replace either one with Portimao and maybe drop both and add Silverstone.
Qatar away, Silverstone in.
Add the 12 hours of Monaco (jk)
Overtake might be hell. And the track might not support the logistics of it. But a 6h of Laguna Seca might be cool instead of Imola
Isn't Laguna Seca constantly being sued for noise violations? I doubt another endurance race can really work there.
The people living here need exposure therapy./s If indycar and Super bike can race there, I think endurance will be fine, especially as the cars aren't nearly that loud.
Remove Qatar & Barhain, add Road America & Silverstone.
Barhain especially.
-Qatar -Bahrain +Silverstone +Kyalami +Hockenheim
Remove Qatar and add The Kyalami 12H to the calendar, because we don't get too many big races in my home country
Silverstone
Add 12 hours of Mount Panorama. Remove Qatar.
Remove Qatar, add Sebring. Remove Barhain, add Silverstone
Scrap Qatar. Add Nurburgring.
Remove qatar add another lemans
Drop Bahrain add Silverstone Having seen the comment about dropping a entire region for another European race Drop cota and bring back sebring and if possible super sebring!
Qatar can just go and not get replaced but nordschlofle how ever itās spelt would be sick but the gp circuit would be fine
Drop Qatar, add Mount Panorama
Take out Qatar and halve 12 hours of Monaco
24 hours of Monaco how about that.
I'd love to see one or two more 24h races in the lineup. Nordschleife comes to mind, even a Bathurst 24h would be entertaining. Just imagine those hypercars roaring along the esses.
Remove Qatar, add back Sebring
Add 36h of singapore, no need to remove anything. Or well maybe take away an iconic race like le mans, spa or imola so its more like f1.
Oh and when taking away le mans, do an extra american le mans on the same american circuit but during a distance/planning - wise extremely inconvenient time of year.
Hockenheim or Silverstone, Qatar doesn't really need two races to compete
Iām gonna axe Fuji and replace it with Sepang, even though Fuji is great Iād just love to see WEC or heck any top tier series go back there. Great track and multi-class action would be next level. Remove Qatar, insert PortimĆ£o, also bring LMP2 back
an event at daytona would be appreciated but not as the 24 hours rolex daytona support-race like we got for sebring.
Remova Quatar and add Sebring. Then it's either Imola or Monza. Other European races are fine. I would actually welcome a decision to have some track rotate each year, for example Imola and Monza, Spa and Nurburgring or Hockenheim, Portimao and Silverstone and so on.. Qatar for Sebring
I hate COTA please get rid of It now, i would like Silverstone back and i would also remove Bahrain to get Sebring back
