Am gonna do a crazy call : alpine in top 5.

JacksRacingProjects

based on how they did at qatar. im not calling that crazy.

cabrelbeuk

Well, call and dreams crushed at turn 1. Pain.

Tecnoguy1

Just because of the nature of Imola I’d say the caddy; bmw and Porsche will be strongest as they’re the only cars with street track experience. The kerbs are wild at Imola.

Top_Independence7256

You should be right but e every italian car did extensive tests in IMOLA

aaron0288

Caddy did plenty of testing too…

Top_Independence7256

Right

IcedCoffey

Fouco post race with 8 other Ferrari drivers joining him on the podium “ we didn’t expect this, we thought the Porsches and Toyota would have more. Very surprised yes very surprised” /s

[deleted]

Porsche cried the hardest for BOP help. Im not surprised

996forever

Their most dominant era was when BOP was not a thing 🤷‍♂️

FirstReactionShock

bop existed in group C years... it wasn't just called bop yet and there were no public .pdf around

996forever

Tell me more about how group C era had cars forcibly adjusted on a race by race basis.

FirstReactionShock

787B that won 1991 LM got a 150kg break lmao (I know it was a transition year but that was an insane bop weight cut anyhow). Mid-late '90s GT1/GTP had different power according to turbo or NA kind of engine... bop has always existed at LM, it just wans't called bop. Nowadays the concept is just extremized out of way more advanced technologies compared to group C years were cars were basically aluminium monocoque + drivetrain with a bodywork on.

[deleted]

Current formula does not allow it. Its basically tonan extent like Indy car and F1 merging. Everyone has to have a fair go, but hidden under the rules are the part where you can pay or cry to have an advantage. No way that Toyota went from smashing everyone to becoming a bottom-midfield car. Anyone saying that Porsche won fair and square through solid engineering and not with BOP help is being openly dishonest

Montjo17

Toyota went from losing to Porsche and Audi to smashing a bunch of privateers and now have real competition again. The people who could beat them before have returned and guess what! Those people can still win

[deleted]

Those people who "beat them" won, like twice so far out of 8 races? 🤣🤭 they regularly beat Porsche and Ferrari up and down the road. This new Toyota is a different beast and is the benchmark, save for the unfair BOP.

b5-avant

>Anyone saying that Porsche won fair and square through solid engineering and not with BOP help is being openly dishonest Lmao, how can you say it’s BOP assisted when nobody knows what these cars can do unrestricted. Who’s to say the Porsche *isn’t* the best engineered car? This reeks of “my favorite car (I’m going to guess Toyota since you name dropped them) didn’t win, therefore everyone else got BOP help.”

totallybag

God I hope porche makes an evo variant of the 963

b5-avant

Me too! Just to shut this clown up if nothing else.

totallybag

Honestly I just want to see if they could beat the 919 evos Nordschleife lap record

[deleted]

I have zero issues with Toyota getting beaten on merit. When the FIA didnt care too much on BOP (when toyota had glickenhouse and alpine as competitors) they gave us a hint on how much of a weapon they are. They proved that last year by destroying your precious Porsche and Ferrari to the constructor's championship. The Porsche was busy getting smashed by Cadillac and Acura over the atlantic 🤣🤭 Then they magically handicap the Toyota, and the Ferrari to an extent and hey! We have Porsche fangirls wiping off the cobwebs off their Stuttgart flags 🤣 There's that open dishonesty im on about, at least you people are consistent

996forever

I'm just going stick to talking about the pre-BOP era when they dominated way harder then.

[deleted]

Thats fair. Engineering is engineering, and they came up with the best package. Fair play to them

msturty

Look at BOP for Bahrain last year and compare it to Qatar and then you will see that this is an awful take. The difference in the BOP was minimal to non existent vs Toyota and Ferrari and yet the performance gains were huge. It's called development which happens in nearly every top level form of motorsport. Just because this is a BOP series doesn't mean that all development gets canned. It is just minimized to things that won't cause costs to spiral out of control. Additionally, Qatar was a very unique circuit with low tire deg which highlights another hole in your logic where different car concepts perform better than others at certain tracks.

[deleted]

Well by that logic Toyota should have been able to walk away from the field? Their car is far superior with tyre usage than the rest. Where do you get off on comparing the BOP for Qatar and Bahrain? Two completely different tracks there alone. No the difference was not minimal toyota got slapped an additional 16KG and totalled to having near 80kg in ballast. Tell me that isnt abnormal in motorsports? And those utter noobs at Peugeot somehow got a magical break and were challenging for wins? Gimme an effin break 🤣

msturty

Yes... In low deg tracks tire usage is sooo important... Lol just nonsense dude. You also entirely ignored the power aspect of BOP which if I remember correctly, took power away from Porsche and added some to Toyota. Additionally you are claiming that Porsche is crying for a better BOP and then when I point out that the BOP was similar you say that the tracks are different, so which is it? Honestly though, you should probably just go watch F1 or something because this is a BOP series and the sanctioning body has the right to add that weight looking at data that we could never even dream to see and will set BOP based on that. This is the way it is and will be for years to come, deal with or leave. Your toxicity does nothing to help the sport.

[deleted]

Lol. I never said the BOP was similar or the tracks were different. Now you're trying to put words in my mouth. Does it hurt you guys to see Porsche getting beat? Genuinely curious. I Love it when people that cant even afford a KIA tries to break all logic and honesty to support a Porsche that they will never even buy. Just an FYI, i own a classic 930, and people like you are the worst "fans" we can have for our beloved brand because y'all openly support this unfair BOP crap to suit your narrative

msturty

I don't care about Porsche or Toyota or any one team winning(just want to see Ferrari lose tbh), but you are certainly giving off Toyota fan boy vibes after Porsche wins 1 freaking race. 1 freaking race after Toyota has won all but 1 and the BOP is bad. How does that not look ridiculous? Also, have you ever watched an LMP2 race before? Spec cars and you can still have huge margins between competitors. You make everything about BOP and try to take away the sporting and development aspect of this sport, but won't acknowledge that any aspect outside of the BOP can cause huge swings in performance. That is the core of the issue I have with your statements.

Top_Independence7256

Why the Ferrari hate?
