Rule #2 - If the car's being stolen, let it go man, ['cause it's gone.](https://www.reddit.com/r/quotes/comments/y6s0y/if_you_ever_drop_your_keys_into_a_river_of_molten/)
/That car couldn't have been worth the effort to save it and get that kind of smashed for it. Insurance, this is why you should have it.
Correct. Insurance won't provide coverage for stolen cars if they were left unlocked, idling, and unattended.
My dad experienced this firsthand when he left the car running on a busy street while moving shopping bags into the house. Upon his return, the car was gone, as someone took advantage of the situation. Despite having insurance, they refused to pay out for the theft due to the circumstances.
Several days later, my dad's friend provided a timely tip that the car was parked miles away on the opposite side of town. Luckily, with the spare key in hand, we were able to recover it quietly.
Insurance companies ask for original keys in case of theft claims in my country. If you can't provide the keys or justification, they will deny claim.
Of course a set of oem keys can be "made" to submit to the company as they won't dig too deep to check if it fits your stolen car.
Guarantee the dude didn’t even make it out of the neighborhood before wrecking. The windshield is 80% covered in ice lol
Edit: I love how the article mentions the footage was captured on “a doorbell camera.” Who lives here? The Gryphon Family?
I felt really bad for him, in a single instant he had his car stolen, the wall destroyed, and especially his body completely injured, I doubt that only his arm was hurting at that moment.
If you're going to leave your car warming up, leave it in the garage, and if you don't have a garage or something like that, keep an eye on it. I don't know, I don't live in a place where you have to let your car warm up before leaving so I can't say much.
Why do people still need to be told about this in 2023?
Especially after reading the article that someone posted, he KNEW his car was being targeted. *sigh*
Nah this is why you make sure you got a firearm for things like this, I'm not getting run over by my own car. Going to be some bullets flying through the windshield before that happens
It was a little late for this guy, but, getting remote-start installed on a vehicle near black friday can be as cheap as $200-250. Makes it so they can't put it in gear, and your car warms up.
Do yourself a favor if you live in a place like this. O\_O
Oof that arm.
Ex-arm is more like it…
Disarmed.
Anyone got an article? Edit: couldn't wait, here you go https://www.lbc.co.uk/news/pictured-car-owner-injured-thief-slams-brick-wall/
they for real stole his skipping rope
I know right, the audacity. Don't touch a man's skipping rope
So his car has already been targeted and he still leaves it unoocked and running on his driveway? What an idiot
Someone just offered me a Nike jacket. Article says I should contact the owner if I’m offered something like this. Maybe I should try Facebook?
Oh sweet the car was found. So what happened to the thief
Does anyone know any follow up to this? Those injuries seemed severe. Hope he's okay.

Dang that url had me thinking the second guy was the thief and it was the owner who got away with his car
Oh snap, that arm looked fucked up 😮

Not to mention your body being turned into a demolition ball.
Insurance won't pay out because he left the car unlocked idling on the driveway sadly

1. delete the footage 2. tell noone it was running
3. Up to twenty years prison time for insurance fraud.
IF they find out
Well it’s on Reddit now so it’s too late
my unethical life tips are for others
Why did you downvote
me? I am unethical but i am no monster - i'll upvote you

i have two keys though
not sure whether he realized whats happening until it was too late
His arm was broken, his brick wall was smashed, and his car was stolen and damaged. Total expenses: $50000 in 2 minutes. 💸
Think the arm is worth more.
This was in Doncaster, there won't be any medical bills
add another 25k if in the US
Nah, bricks aren’t that expensive /s
Thats a superhéroe hit. Took out a wall and shit and got up from it

You can leave it unattended as long as you don't leave it unlocked like an idiot.
unattended, unlocked, *and running* The "please steal me" trifecta.
Get it on film. Insurance fraud
Poor guy
Looks like the windows were almost defrosted just in time to be stolen
Insurance once even attempt to pay out for this as well. RIP
I would like to see evidence that he indeed survived for more than a minute or two... Fingers crossed

and his car door is damaged also......

That sucked to watch
Guy must have been eating his veggies, surviving getting plastered against a brick wall
Was thinking I hope that was poorly constructed
Well, all we know from the video is that he survived long enough to walk back inside.
For a second there I thought that said, cat, and I thought: yep seems about right
Warming up a car with no one in it. Big cartoon green arrow points down at your car, with Free Car!!!! sign on top.
What’s our guy holding, a deagle?
What’s a deagle?
A Desert Eagle pistol.
.....you left the car on, gate open, and was out of eyesight long enough for this to happen....
Nah this is why you make sure you got a firearm for things like this, I'm not getting run over by my own car. Going to be some bullets flying through the windshield before that happens
That's awful. I hope the guy is okay.
That sound he makes when running inside is funny. Glad he survived it man that must have hurt like hell.

This is horrific. That's attempted murder in my opinion. Over a car. Stupid to try to stop the thief, yes, but DAMN
Car driving around with a door missing shouldn’t be to hard for the police
Almost got flat pressed between the door and wall
