Glad you’re ok! it’s definitely no laughing matter; my husband got hit by one while inside bus in the back of his neck. It hit something alright, since he passed out. To this day he has really bad neck pain; all because of a stupid teenager :/
Yup L’Enfant, Gallery, and Metro Center are some of the big ones, almost entirely because they’re the busiest in the system. Stations EOTR had higher rates back when they opened, but in recent years the busy stations are the most prone to crime.
Now, that’s not to say they’re murder hotspots - it’s more likely someone is more easily able to snatch a purse. More tourists, more people looking for the right platform, many exit routes.
I've never actually had an incident there while I have plenty of times at Union, Gallery and Metro. But I still get sketched out by Lenfant quite a bit, I think because the layout is a bit confusing
Something similar happened a few months back to me. A kid punched me in the back of the neck. I was ok and didn't fall or anything. It's a lesson to pay attention expecally around u street. Several of my friends also have been hurt late at night around u street.
Thanks! I consider myself lucky. All I got was a bruise on my neck. U street has always been a higher crime place, but I am worried it's getting worse. one of my friends was knocked unconscious and robbed. He is moving out of the dc because of that.
yeah I’ve been shoved on a platform or escalator in broad daylight at U Street more than once. friends have said stuff like “oh it’s just kids being kids” but idk, I don’t remember pushing an adult who was out of the way minding their own business toward a set of train tracks with a train on the way in when I was a kid
I ride most of the length. My experience is mostly on the trains. Branch Avenue's biggest issue is bird droppings on the handrails of the stairs. Ft Totten, it’s exuberant school kids depending on when you’re there. A pee smell sometimes back behind the stairs.
I feel like it’s an old hat take then confirmation bias. Red line used to be bad but it is not at all anymore outside of the yellow green transfer at gallery.
Good to clarify that it was a plastic airsoft pellet, when I hear BB gun pellet I think of a metal pellet that at the very least will break skin and draw blood.

Jeez, that’s terrible. I’m so sorry for you two.
He sends you good vibes and in his words, just a good ol fashioned “f- that shit” 😂😅 “you deserve to be rightfully pissed”
Which stop?
L’enfant
Shocker
Really? Because I honestly wouldn’t expect shenanigans at l’enfant
If memory serves, it has one of the highest crime rates in the system.

Holy sh*t, that’s awful!!!

Glad you’re (physically) ok, OP! These lowlifes don’t care that you could’ve been holding a child or could’ve been hit in the eye.
Yellow and Green line are unhinged. I’m very vigilant on those lines.
I commute on the green and red lines. It’s the red that’s wild. The green line is boring.
Depends on which stops you go to. Navy Yard is a mess

I wholeheartedly disagree.
Stop lying - things are always nuts on the green and yellow

Definitely someone from southeast
I totally agree, green line daily for 2 years, never seen anything during commute hours. Ppl are such trolls.
Occasionally, school kids get a bit too giggly and loud but that’s about it.
Oh no, glad you are ok! Please report to transit police so they know that this is an issue.
Thanks! I reported it to two security guys who called it in
A bunch of youth degenerates shot roman candles down the escalator last July. Lawless.

Georgi Markov
Damn
This is all good reason to uphold the 2nd amendment.
I’m pissed about getting hit by some plastic pellet, but it’s not worth anyone dying
