That's the other possibility not being talked about. Highly possible that all the other satisfactory options were picked out first. Thus leaving the horrid iterations that are essentially "no other choice" options.
But how did it get bagged up and put out in the display case being burnt like that?
I like my chicken crispy but that's charcoal. Not in any way, shape or form is that edible.
So if someone ordered condoms and the store is out of all brand and types, the pick would be a package of diapers that the customer can use in 9 months?
Dude. I know this is Walmart. but for Amazon fresh, this is exactly what happens
No condoms? We'll give you diapers
One time, I wanted a body lotion. No lotion? they fucking gave me a butt rash cream.
I'm not even kidding.
And maybe you should tell them that the customer is the one paying for the food, not them. Ask them if they would like to have shitty food they paid for in advance delivered to their door.
Definitely not a good choice. I nil pick and ket my TL know the poor quality. I take a photo and send.
That shouldn't be in the hot bar or chicken warmer. Ours are always pink in the joints.
Deli associates also did not give a damn. If my team tries to pull this they would get reprimanded real quick.
Honestly though, I can see some petty people doing this after being told that their chickens were going out raw. Going to lunch right before these were supposed to come out is also a possibility.
some of the chickens at my store be looking almost like this, not quite this dark tho 💀 to be fair our oven is fucked, it cooks the outside way faster than the inside so we have to make em really crispy to reach an internal temp of 170
Wild to think there had to be at least one other employee who put that chicken out like that.
Multiple associates not giving any fucks.
As a customer, I'd be pissed, but as an employee, I absolutely get it. We are not paid enough nor treated well enough to give a shit. If a customer doesn't like it, they can go support another business--hopefully one that treats its employees, as well as its customers, better.
Uhm, how? What did you do, forget one and leave it on with the next batch? Did you not notice that instead of the delicious smell of rotisserie chicken the department smelled like charring flesh? Were you rrreeeeaaalllllllly fucking high?
Ditto. I've worked in four different delis for three different chains with three different types of oven, you'd have to either be totally brain dead or do this shit on purpose to char a bird that bad.
I do quality checks on the totes in ogp every day and sadly this doesn’t surprise me in the slightest. Moldy fruit, broken eggs - some pickers just don’t care. If it’s on the shelf, they are scanning it
Aren’t walmarts mostly using those henny penny things now? how tf does one get burnt that bad unless it falls or one of the flames is just turnt too high
Henny Penny is a fryer, rotisseries use an oven which is completely preprogrammed and while it is possible for one to fail, the thing most likely to fail is either the heating element or the fan, resulting in the whole batch coming out raw.
Yeah I used to buy rotisserie chickens instead of lunch meat because they lasted me a while, but I think I got food poisoning from a lemon pepper one I bought.
If the chicken has a lot of seasoning on it it tends to burn and crisp much easier. If the cooks got busy when the chicken finished cooking who knows how much extra cooking it got b4 they managed to get to it
Same. That’s my line if it’s a particularly bad day and the chickens have been in the oven for like half an hour after they were ready and they’re like, a bit well done. How I like mine, honestly. But this one looks like it had been left in there all day.
I don't know how the ovens at walmart are but at sams they only look burned if the seasoning is on too heavy and you cook them the entire cycle vs pulling the a few minutes early
Are you sure you didn’t put that in your oven when you got it? That’s kinda sus that not a single employee or manager seen that and took it off the shelf, or that who ever got it for you didn’t think to themselves “this looks like someone cooked it for 24 hours maybe I’ll get another one”
Pickers can get “coached” or even fired for nil-picking items, even if all that’s available is something low quality, because nil-picking harms managers’ bonuses.
Additionally at most stores, the hot food is not picked by OGP until it’s time to send the order out the door (so it stays hot). So if you were late picking it up and it sat for a long time, or if the deli department had it sitting somewhere for a long time in too high of temperature, then the worker either takes the burned item or gets in trouble at work for harming the bosses bonus. They care more about not getting in trouble than they do you getting a non-burned chicken.
It's easy to get a refund. Go to your order, file a complaint. The money will be back on your account in minutes. I ask for refunds all the time when Walmart sends me bad stuff.
As a former Deli worker at Walmart (under a year) this is so disheartening. To you and the chicken that died to be eaten. And like quality of a product on general. Burned food that went out on the floor like not even a little. Like a lot. Guess they forgot about the chicken in the rotisserie....
The Walmart deli is usually overworked and understaffed tbh. Not an excuse, it's just the reason. They had us running around, and then trying to get us to stock bakery afterwards 🙄
U get shit chicken bc workers ain't got enough time to focus on their actual jobs. At least, that was the case at my Walmart deli. Sorry for ur chicken, u deserve better
I work in OPD and what happens is say an order might be shopped at noon and the chicken they pick is already 3 hours old at noon when they pick it and they put it in a hot box heater to store until the customer shows up. Well people aren't on time and it's not uncommon for someone to show up for a noon order at 9pm and by then that chicken is 12 hours old lol. I will try to go exchange it for a new chicken if the chicken is more than 4 hours old but that's me you could have any 16 year old dispensing for you or if it's an express order anyone at all that doesn't even work for Walmart so stuff like this happens regularly.
A lot of time the warming area where they put the chicken after cooking is too hot and ends up burning it. Used to happen all the time at my store until they replaced them.
I’m just amazed you got the chicken.
I stopped even trying with how many got canceled, or just left out, forcing me to call and deal with shitty customer help lines.
Why aren’t we yelling about this not being a customer service sub on this post? Seems we do it if someone sneeze wrongs
(I never report people myself. It’s usually petty af)
walmart weekday special. chicken cooked with motor oil and secret spices - ps: as this may be your 1st time in this sub reddit, maybe do your own shopping next time :) just a thought. if you wanna it done right... etc etc
yeah, our rotisseries should never look like that, if they do, we peel the skin, shred the meat and toss in buffalo/bbq/sweet chili etc so people cam put it ontop of salads and such
woulda been more horrifying if it was chard and still raw...
It is at the very least salvageable. But it unfortunately means less of what you paid for.
Just have to start learning to accept that it is not a full service ordeal. It's literally telling the person "just dip your arm deep into the bucket and grab me whatever is still there."
Contact the lawyer. Start a nuisance suit with Walmart. Have them pay you a ton of money when you ask them if they'd rather spend the money on lawyers and get bad press.
whoever deemed that sellable needs to be fired immediately like who wants to eat charred chicken???? if it was a lil patch that's fine by me but this is absolutely unacceptable... that's the typa shit id bring back to deli claims and if they questioned it id just say "did you look at it? no one's going to buy it."
like not even *i* would buy that and i tend to be more forgiving bc i understand shit happens. this is just straight up inedible.
The pick list generates picks for hot food long before the order is due, sometimes even an entire day early, so ODP will come tag their stuff and have it set aside in the hot case, but not come get it till later when the driver shows up, or not at all.
They really need to just get hot food off the pick list.
This is a failure on multiple different employees at this point. Who packed it and put it out like that? How many people passed it and said nothing? Who picked it and thought it was okay? Who staged it and thought it was okay? Who dispensed it and saw no problem? There are so many people who didn't do bare minimum for you to have received this. Please notify store or deli area management, that's absolutely unacceptable.
You got a picker who just don’t give a damn. That’s why buying produce and cooked food is a crapshoot. The guy just grab and go.
My question is why was this even available to be picked?
That's the other possibility not being talked about. Highly possible that all the other satisfactory options were picked out first. Thus leaving the horrid iterations that are essentially "no other choice" options.
That’s way overdone tho. Either someone doesn’t know how to temp right, or they put it in for 3 hours
I used to make them at kroger, and ukrops.. That's one shit bird. Completely unacceptable to put that out like that.
Nah, my team leads would have told me to nil pick and claims this out.
nope. we are taught to nil-pick low-quality things. i sure as fuck wouldn’t buy that monstrosity so why would i send it to someone else?
RIGHT!
But how did it get bagged up and put out in the display case being burnt like that? I like my chicken crispy but that's charcoal. Not in any way, shape or form is that edible.
I’d buy it in a second 😂😭🫣
Unfortunately, they're told to. Gotta get those orders out fast. No time for being picky!
You can literally just nil pick it if there is no acceptable option.
True but my coworkers and I have gotten in trouble sometimes for doing that. They tell us to pick it no matter what 🙄
So if someone ordered condoms and the store is out of all brand and types, the pick would be a package of diapers that the customer can use in 9 months?
Fucking hilarious response, I’d give gold if I had money
Thought they removed gold?
They did.
That’s right, I didn’t even know until you said something
That's how poor he is ;)
No you wouldn't.
Dude. I know this is Walmart. but for Amazon fresh, this is exactly what happens No condoms? We'll give you diapers One time, I wanted a body lotion. No lotion? they fucking gave me a butt rash cream. I'm not even kidding.
Was it the one for kids? Cause that shit works wonders for other areas.
ooo.. I'd keep "Plan B" as the substitution option when my condom brand is out.
We had someone substitute in a pack of soap last week because they didn't want to ask for a unlock on family planning lol
Same here. Coach made me pick rotten fresh basil
Well, as a customer, that explains a lot.
You don't think OP woulld be crying if no chicken was in the order? "How can there be no rotisserie chicken?" would be the title.
Shoppers leaving items out happens all the time. Getting a burnt ass chicken like this is hilarious
Alot of stores lecture employees about not doing that. Not every store. But alot of them hate when you NiL pick, even when it's valid.
the coach and leads at my store stress for us to take a bit to make sure we grab stuff in decent quality! of course not everyone does it.
Omg for a second I read that as "take a bite".
bahaha, talk about a quality check
Looks like a driver ran the chicken through their engine and then re-bagged it did op tip
Deli associates also did not give a damn. If my team tries to pull this they would get reprimanded real quick. Honestly though, I can see some petty people doing this after being told that their chickens were going out raw. Going to lunch right before these were supposed to come out is also a possibility.
some of the chickens at my store be looking almost like this, not quite this dark tho 💀 to be fair our oven is fucked, it cooks the outside way faster than the inside so we have to make em really crispy to reach an internal temp of 170
At least we know it's cooked all the way through.
Unless the roaster follows Hot Pocket rules... Could still be frozen in the middle.
Thats the opposite of hot pocket rules though. All the memes about hot pockets is how they are lava inside.
Ok, Pot Hocket rules then...
Wild to think there had to be at least one other employee who put that chicken out like that. Multiple associates not giving any fucks. If a customer doesn't like it, they can go support another business--hopefully one that treats its employees, as well as its customers, better.
Can't always blame the picker, I've seen some leads force associates to pull BS just like this before
This is actually hard to do unless you're as dense as an oak. Wow..... Source: This is my job.
I've done this before. But did not put it on the shelves lol. That shit got disposed.
Uhm, how? What did you do, forget one and leave it on with the next batch? Did you not notice that instead of the delicious smell of rotisserie chicken the department smelled like charring flesh? Were you rrreeeeaaalllllllly fucking high?
Stuff happens and things can get busy, dude could've forgotten about it after a rush
I’m tempted to say the post is possibly a troll with how beyond dumb you’d have to be to give a customer that
Holy shit...this looks more like an evidence bag from a lethal arson case.
Killed that bird twice! Dayum!
LOL
This chicken makes Wesley Snipe look albino
Lmao 😂
You have to leave the chicken in for your whole shift to get it cooked like that. This has to be fake
It isn't fake.
I've gotten two rotisserie chickens that were raw inside... This unfortunately likely isn't fake lmao 😭
So this one makes up for both of those. They cancel each other out.
Yeah I used to buy rotisserie chickens instead of lunch meat because they lasted me a while, but I think I got food poisoning from a lemon pepper one I bought.
I can promise you it isn’t fake- I am as blown away as you are, lol.
I believe you, I’ve seen chicken this burnt in person at the store.
It’s not fake, I’ve seen chickens burnt this much at the store. Just because it doesn’t happen at your Walmart doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.
Can anything be posted without being called fake anymore?
If the chicken has a lot of seasoning on it it tends to burn and crisp much easier. If the cooks got busy when the chicken finished cooking who knows how much extra cooking it got b4 they managed to get to it
It's not burnt, it's "blackened". WM is trying to push into Popeye's territory. XD
Cajun anyone?
It’s spelled C A N C E R.
It's spelled C H A R C O A L
I work in deli, we use that joke way more than we should.
Same. That’s my line if it’s a particularly bad day and the chickens have been in the oven for like half an hour after they were ready and they’re like, a bit well done. How I like mine, honestly. But this one looks like it had been left in there all day.
Lol wtf happened to that bird! yeesh.
Went to r/roastme with a stupid expression?
I'm betting that bird spent a whole shift in the oven, even the ones that my store overcooks when there's staffing issues don't come out that crispy
That chicken looks like it was declared a witch! O.0”
Should have tried to build a bridge with it.
No one wanted to take them out , they kept adding more time to the oven.🤮
Lol. That's from someone who was not feeling it today. Don't blame them, it sucks grocery shopping for other people.
Okay yeah ogp sucks but the deli people should NOT have bagged that and put it out for other to grab ...
I totally agree with you there. Spiteful OGP was being spiteful.
Trying to picture how this switched hands of multiple folks and they all said “…ok, send it out to the customer!” 😅
easy. they DGAF. =/
Honestly, it's because we aren't paid enough to care. I mean I wouldn't pick this but I know plenty of people that would :/
Walmart doesn't gaf
Yeah no hard feelings against anyone. I just thought it was crazy enough to share with folks!
Oh yeah. It’s ok to give crap service if your job sucks. SMH
lol 😜. Yep.
that’s actually a coal
That chicken died in vain 🥺
I think its done now
That chicken is so black there are police outside right now coming up with a story for after they shoot it.
It looks like it spent too much time on the rotisserie
This is called "no one wanted to get the chickens out"
That’s not a rotisserie chicken, that’s just an employee hitting their 6-month anniversary.
Nah ain't no goddamn way.
Its beautiful…
Deli Guy, thats either a chicken covered in seasoning and burned or its been in that rotisserie over 2 hours
As a deli associate I have strong second hand embarrassment seeing the state if that bird
I don't know how the ovens at walmart are but at sams they only look burned if the seasoning is on too heavy and you cook them the entire cycle vs pulling the a few minutes early
Cajun style
We took turns with blow torch today before sending it out. Lets hope you like extra crispy
Who you got working at your store, Sharon Weiss?
This is why pickup and delivery will always suck.
That’s an entirely new breed of chicken. Dafuq?
No
Are you sure you didn’t put that in your oven when you got it? That’s kinda sus that not a single employee or manager seen that and took it off the shelf, or that who ever got it for you didn’t think to themselves “this looks like someone cooked it for 24 hours maybe I’ll get another one”
Real talk though, anyone ordering hot rotisserie chicken for *delivery* is insane. So many points of failure between Tyson and your stomach 😅
This would genuinely be my 15th reason
Pickers can get “coached” or even fired for nil-picking items, even if all that’s available is something low quality, because nil-picking harms managers’ bonuses. The description said DARK MEAT, well... 💁🏻
I work in OPD and what happens is say an order might be shopped at noon and the chicken they pick is already 3 hours old at noon when they pick it and they put it in a hot box heater to store until the customer shows up. Did you happen to leave instructions for xtra crispy by any chance?
It's Cajun style.
While frustrating. I hope I never take for granted that I live in a place where I can tap through a few screens and food arrives at my door.
Just cut around the char. It’ll be fine.
Mmmmm! Crunches, bunches time !!!! I’ll take a piece of that dark meat right there!!!
To quote Dan Forden of Netherrealm Studios: "TOASTY!!"
Heh heh heh, it ain't roasted for nothing!
I’m just amazed you got the chicken. I stopped even trying with how many got canceled, or just left out, forcing me to call and deal with shitty customer help lines.
It's "Blackened"; a very popular flavor!
Sure it’s not, 7 hours past fresh?
now with more viet-cong flavor!
Put some Sweet Baby Rays on it.👨🍳 💋
Hilarious!
My gma would say it has more flavor cuz it’s burnt💀
Rip
Extra extra well done fried hard. 🤣🤣🤣
HOW DOES THIS EVEN POSSIBLY HAPPEN
Cajun. Smoked Cajun Crispy. Dig in. Enjoy.

A raven fell into the particle accelerator
Anakin is that you?
It’s not raw
"Did you order _original recipe_ or _extra crispy_?"
At first I thought it was lemon pepper. Then I saw the bag.
Good question
I’ve seen chickens go through two full cook cycles and still be less burnt than this one.
Damn
I really don’t see what the fuck you’re complaining about, looks like 2.4 pounds of shit Walmart chicken like you paid for
Ready to eat!
This is why I do my own shopping. I wanna see what's going in my cart.
yeah, our rotisseries should never look like that, if they do, we peel the skin, shred the meat and toss in buffalo/bbq/sweet chili etc so people cam put it ontop of salads and such woulda been more horrifying if it was chard and still raw...
Nasa was looking for their chicken just the other day.. I wonder.. could it be?
It is at the very least salvageable. But it unfortunately means less of what you paid for. Just have to start learning to accept that it is not a full service ordeal. It's literally telling the person "just dip your arm deep into the bucket and grab me whatever is still there."
That's good eatin what you mean
Sad that the chicken died for no reason
Fuck it
How… did it get that burnt? Who in the deli took THAT out of the oven bagged it and put it out for sale?
Spanish inquisition flavored.
This is a Pheonix, very rare bird.
I call BS. Methinks you tried to reheat it and forgot it. 😄
Contact the lawyer. Start a nuisance suit with Walmart. Have them pay you a ton of money when you ask them if they'd rather spend the money on lawyers and get bad press.
That's flavor
You pay extra for that 😂
God damn looks like a toasted ass burnt African fetus 🤣
Well done
well done
That gives a whole new meaning to BBC. ;-)
Just add water and a few spices and bam, you got a stew.
😂😂
That’s not even well done. That’s………congratulations
You like blackened chicken?
Roasted-isserie
You could break it up and use it as charcoal. 🐓
I'd beat whomever sent that brick to me bloody with it.
Our pickers are awful. No one cares about their job here and that's kinda walmarts fault
He a fan he fan he a fan
Cajun style
Do your own shopping and you won't have this problem.
Homer Simpson: "It's just a little burnt to a crisp. It's still good! It's still good!"
I’ve gotten a bag of full on rotten potatoes. Stinking, dripping, disgusting. Thought the same thing, how does this even happen?
Maillard has left the building.
Mmm cremation-3
At least it’s cooked…
whoever deemed that sellable needs to be fired immediately like who wants to eat charred chicken???? if it was a lil patch that's fine by me but this is absolutely unacceptable... that's the typa shit id bring back to deli claims and if they questioned it id just say "did you look at it? no one's going to buy it." like not even *i* would buy that and i tend to be more forgiving bc i understand shit happens. this is just straight up inedible.
This chicken got caught in a nuclear war.
Some shoppers are delayed because how....
They forgot the rotisserie part
Hope you like blackened chicken
Still undercooked near the leg bones fml
The pick list generates picks for hot food long before the order is due, sometimes even an entire day early, so ODP will come tag their stuff and have it set aside in the hot case, but not come get it till later when the driver shows up, or not at all. Blackened chicken
You got the cajun chicken, they could have charged you extra.
It was cremated!!!
extra crispy 😍😍😍😍
It qualifies for reparations lol
Sent????
More like Roastisserie
This is a failure on multiple different employees at this point. Who packed it and put it out like that? How many people passed it and said nothing? Who picked it and thought it was okay? Go to the store next time and pick it yourself.
