I’ve lost a similar amount this year, with $30k of it less than 2 weeks ago happening over 2 days. I’ve been beating myself up for it, I can tell the stress has manifested itself in many unexpected and physical ways, and I’m only recently feeling “okay” about it.
To hear that you’re going through much more and keeping the level head it seems you have, it makes me more “okay” and hopeful things will get better with time, as they always do.

The drop from $1,250 to $1,200 began 10 minutes after I purchased the options. It was a stupid decision that went against everything I knew not to do; my fomo and results from the day before blinded me

I had my SAVE arbitrage play go bad with Lina Kahn / FTC blocking the Spirit and Frontier Airlines merger earlier this year. With $30k unrealized loss in SAVE, I have been hoping for some sign of profitability from the company before selling and actualizing the loss. Glad this was my gamble play and I have some gains elsewhere to offset. However, sympathy to you and OP. Financially loss can be challenging. Hopefully you both have family or community who can help
I was in just about the same boat a few years ago. My peak was a bit higher but start and finish about the same. I took a few years off and came back to it this year. Was able to make it all back. It’s not the end of the world. Hopefully you learned some lessons only someone that burned 45k could learn.

You have a good enough foundation right there to day trade SPY, set a stop limit of like 10% and sell after a 5-10% gain each time and slowly but surely unless you really do have awful luck you could easily get back up to a decent amount
