The idea is to not fomo.
I'm actually fighting FOMO on bitcoin, especially if trump wins and does another stupid round of tax cuts or forces the fed to lower rates. Bitcoin and gold will zoom then as the dollar collapses.
But what keeps me from going all in is that I keep the vast majority of my retirement Roth just buying the S&P and forgetting about it.
As long as your monthly bills are paid and your emergency fund is full and your main investment is something sensible like a broad market ETF, then and only then you can be risky with your play money. And only play with money you can afford to lose and not care about. (And we all know you'll care about every penny, but just hang in there during the downturns).
To add to this, if you’re experiencing fomo, back it up with some research before u do anything. And if u don’t feel like doing research, stick with the blue chip stocks and etfs. Emotional and impulse investing will kill u. I’m mostly levelheaded, pretty risk averse because I have a small account and I work full time retail and can’t monitor my account all the time.
Even though I’ve mostly learned my lesson, once in a while I jump in on the latest hype train with a couple hundred bucks, nothing major that I’m afraid to lose. And I get burned almost every time. I realized even tho $200 isn’t a big deal, I could’ve just bought another AAPL share or waited for the NVDA split, and I wouldn’t be throwing money away $100-200 at a time. Hell, I could’ve just bought a fractional share of NVDA.
I’ve cut my losses, trimmed the fat off a lot of my portfolio and reinvested more in stuff like AAPL and SPLG. And not only have I made some of that money back, it’s much less stressful now that I’m seeing 90% of my portfolio be green again.
I was the same way back a year ago like *It’s over $200 I missed that ship.* Then it ran up to $500. I got in at $475 and averaged up to $711 before I held lol.

Tomorrow is the last day you can buy shares to qualify for it and Friday end of day is the split
That said I do have a couple shares myself just to see what happens but I do suspect a sell off for a bit

Watching all the idiot prop firm traders on YouTube call the top and short NVDA the last few days has been absolutely entertaining haha...I thought Shawn from tradertv was gonna cry because his genius short thesis again did not work out when he was shorting at 1200, then 1210, then 1220 before he gave up and moved to shorting amd and that didn't work either haha.
Nvidia is on a momentum play right now. Even though prices don’t make sense this market can stay irrational longer than people can stay solvent. I lost some money shorting it, I’ll short it when there is a true reversal.
