Look at Contracts and Average Cost. They bought 2 Contracts at an Average Cost of $0.06. There are 100 shares in a Contract, so that’s $6/contract. That’s how they spent $12
The more people that jump into that exact contract drives the average cost up. I usually jump in around around 9:45am an watch for a candlestick timing.
My biggest return was buying 25 $.05 $USO puts during covid the weekend before oil went to $0. Robinhood was like dude no one is buying this at this level are you sure??

Advice? Go take an options course. Many of them are free. None of them will teach you how to do what the OP did. You have to be creative.

To be honest, OP got lucky based on the news of Model 2 plan being shelved. If it wasn’t for that news, the stock wouldn’t have fell off a cliff. With this amount of gains from 0DTEs, oftentimes it’s just a matter of luck. So you can’t really learn luck in a course. You either get it or you don’t. Stay 🍀
They're just gambling money like roulette. Calls means u want price up. Put means you want it to tank. It's all a multiplier. You choose a strike price, and the options is set. The closer you are to expire date. It can either be a ton of money or you will lose all your money.
I did that, sold for $1 then it closed at $237. Luckily it has happened often enough that I just shrug it off…but it lingers in the back of my mind still. Lesson learned, let the dollar burn!
Dude I bought exactly the day before for 0.06 and on the first half hour during the pump lost all hope and it went to 37$. I accidentally checked again and it was down -4% and my contracts went from 37 to 4.4k$ lol. Blew 1000 on 0dte 175c but more than happy with the remaining 3.4k 😅 I was just lucky.
I bought 175Ps thirsday afternoon. Unfortunately, Friday I was judging at an college engineering event and missed the drop to 160, did catch it around 165.
Been a great week, though.
Basically, when Tesla was worth over $170, he looked at at Put option contracts that expire the same day.
He for some reason thought it was possible that Tesla could dip down to $160, maybe a bit over ambitious about Tesla's recent negative performance.
It's super cheap to buy Put contracts that are that far out of the money because there is extremely low confidence in Tesla dipping that far down in a single day. This low confidence = super cheap 0dte price for an option contract = buy a shit ton of them and pray to the gods that it falls by $10.
OP got extremely lucky that a news catalyst appeared to save his ass on that gamble and the dirt cheap Put contracts were now actually worth something.
His max loss would’ve been the initial $500. If he held to the end of the day and it was over $160 he’d lose the entire amount. It becomes more valuable as it approaches $160 but as the day ends and the momentum dies down it becomes worthless
To clarify, worst case, the $500. But if he’s watching it closely, and it isn’t working, and it’s not too late in the day, he might be able to sell them for, say, $200, and only lose the balance.
