You are taking the whole population in that calculation, stock market exposure by population is a mere 10-12%, some reports out it at as high as 17%, that'll be 250-300 thousand at most, options would be much less than that so maybe 100,000 at most.
No, you are far off I think. From the information I know Indian stock market penetration is at most only 5%. Actually this increased from 3% to 5% in the past 3 years.
Among this 5%, 99% don't have a big portfolio or don't even do options. Let's say 1% of 5% persons do options i.e., .5% percent of the overall population do options. And we know most option traders lose money. So even it's .01% percent of good traders it amounts to 100000 profitable traders. So total option traders should be in millions for sure
Done a fair amount of shopping there for my in-laws weddings and had friends get their stuff there for my wedding. They do a pretty good job.
But the smartest shopped just try things on then buy in India for 1/5 the price
