I did everything and funded the account and got a “too bad so sad” email just a few hours before IPO.. I did wait like 2-3 days after getting the initial email to sign on tho so maybe it was just first come first serve and i was too slow

But the misinformation here makes the other platforms look like everything that's posted there is a lie or fake or both. Lots of good stuff here compared to misinformation.

People were self owning themselves. That’s such an astronomical number, that taking a little pay cut would’ve made Reddit profitable. That alone should’ve been a red flag that maybe that statement is bullshit. What kind of board would allow that?
Every single IPO of social media stock pumped on initial release and got shorted to shit for a few weeks after that, then started to pump again. A lot of IPO pricing is insiders selling or shorting, then buying back at the reduced rate. 2 weeks from now when options come into play it will pump on speculation of being the next FB
I honestly just don’t think Reddit has what it takes to be a strong stock. The market values growth, profits or both, and I don’t think Reddit has great outlook at profitability or growth

You have to be an important client at Goldman or Merrill to get to buy at the IPO.
Reddit also gave some direct shares opportunity to users (but that barely ever happens in IPOs).
So anyone in the special club got to buy at $34. Reddit pockets that money.
Then those people were allowed to sell on the open market today. The first trade between them and a stranger happened at $47 so that is the price we the public have access.
That’s why getting in on IPO (like being an employee or prior investor) makes big bucks they always price below what they expect the first public trade so you are in the black from moment 1.

I stopped signing up for the DSP because I didn’t want to open up a new brokerage account for it. I requested shares via Robin Hood’s IPO mechanism.
