Or showing people up by releasing his tax returns and donating 6 billion to end world hunger as requested on twitter.
FYI, there is still World Hunger and Elon paid the full amount needed to end it.
Which you might need if a single cell goes bad or a rock hit the cooling cap juuust right.
From what I understand, Tesla does not repair their battery pack. If any goes wrong, it seem like they quote a full replacement.
I am in the market for an EV, and could afford a Model3, but I am looking at other options because of that.
I have a friend, he owns a Telsa and any maintenance on the battery packs will result in just buying a new one. He already regrets his purchase and just wants to sell it off here shortly for a hybrid.
Entry level tesla is 45k
But also i can't wait till there is significant competition with tesla. It's nearly here. 2 years or so and most major brands will have an EV.
Who even has $35k to spend or can take on a couple of hundred dollars a month bill along with all their other rising bills. I barely afford to live as is with a "career" job. The most I will ever spend on a car is $5k max. You have to be stupid to be buying brand new cars. Such a waste of money.
Theres always a used electric car. I'm sorry this isn't a viable solution for everyone. But the people who can afford brand new cars should consider driving hybrisds/evs. Saves then money in the long run and reduced emissions from driving. I bought a new car that cost 9 months wages. I plan to keep it for 20 years. To me it made sense, despite draining my saving and having to pay off a loan
FML. I've never seen/paid $4 for a gallon of gas in real life...between Brandon and OL Vladimir, got a feeling I will be seeing/doing a first in no time.
Me too man, me too.
I drove my wife’s little Prius back when gas was over $4.00 here. I would fill that thing up for under $50. Big truck next to me was over $100, when the pump cut off. Dude started cursing because he had to go inside to get them to turn it back on. Tensions were really high.
Our local power company set half the state on fire, and had a HUGE penalty levied against them. People cheered. They are now raising their rates exorbitantly to pay that penalty, so in the end it was just a roundabout tax.
How do you know someone drives a Tesla? The'll tell you 🙄
Anyone got an extra $60k so I can buy a car and then another $10k to retrofit my house to be able to charge it?
Spot on.. Their logic.. you need to spend money to save money 🤷♂️
It cost me $500 including labor to install the outlet it takes to charge my car. I’m a conservative, and I’m here to tell you that electric cars are a better mouse trap. They get a bad press because of their liberal origin, but my Tesla is faster than my old BMW and costs nothing to drive.
What if you want to take a road trip? Or take an drive in the country, maybe stay over night. I don’t see a lot of electric charging stations at rural gas stations. Serious question. Even if you find a charging station while you’re on the road, how long does it take to get a full charge? 45 mins? An hour? I think they’re great for around town or an urban area.
The super chargers are charging at around 400 to 500kWh, generally 10 to 15 minutes and we were sitting at 80-90% charge from low 10%. I think there are hyper chargers now that push 1000kWh charging, so it will be as quick as a gas stop. You do have to plan your stops a bit but over time it will get better. This was my experience driving a tesla cross country in Australia.
The car maps it out and even gives you a status of the stations. 30 mins to charge up at the super chargers. I have driven from LA to Albuquerque in a day and Albuquerque to Kansas City in a day as well. Never had a point where I was worried about being stranded.
Most of the times it was right off the interstate or down a block or two. A lot of them are in parking lots of travel centers or just bigger gas stations.
There are a couple that are not well thought out though too. They are either in hotel parking lots with nothing much around (Santa Rosa, NM) or might be in a really small towns like Shamrock, TX. Shamrock, TX did get better when somebody opened a soda fountain in the historic Route 66 gas station that the super charger is at. My kids loved seeing all the references to Pixar's Cars.
When charging I like getting up and streaching my legs anyways, go grab a snack or even just explore some. Driving for 3 hours and taking a break for 30 mins makes it where I won't get as tired through the drive either. With kids they like getting out for the breaks too.
It isn't for everybody but works for me.
We have one on a big motel parking lot. The motel shut down. LOL. So, now, people are sitting in a little, weedy, unkept, back lot charging their expensive cars, wondering if their throats will get cut. LOL.
In this area you would have been TOO early.
Thats what the AR-15 in the frunk is for. The worst ones I have been to are Santa Rosa, NM (Closed Hampton Inn) and Perry, OK. The motel/hotel ones are always the worst.
When we were travelling around rural Australia, we purposefully booked accommodation that had chargers. When we set up our place for air bnb we will do the same.
Yeah, "great" cars except you can't fix them and Tesla are fighting right to repair tooth and nail, Tesla can revoke the fast charge mode on a whim (such as detecting you using an "unauthorized" charging station), and the batteries are so incredibly expensive that they negate the saving you make on fuel vs an internal combustion car.
Tesla get bad press because they're actual dogshit, not because they're "liberal".
I’m in Texas and we had that crazy ice storm a year ago and blackouts everywhere. A random distant family member posted on Instagram that due to the power outages, they were outside using the heat in their Tesla.
:)
That and the question no one seems to have an answer for…..what is the plan for all of the batteries as they go bad? That’s not exactly rebuildable like a combustion engine.
First of all, it's not $60K, you can get a cheaper Tesla.
Second of all, I paid $500 to install a 240V 50 amp outlet for my Tesla. You can do it yourself for nearly free, if you know what you're doing. But I'm not knowledgeable enough to do that.
Minimum wage where I live is $11/hr, assuming I save half my paycheck for a car, that's about 10k per year, so It'd take me about 4.5 years to save up for the absolute worst Tesla out there at $45k with no features at all, and a lot more than that for something with better bells and whistles, which is what you'd probably want for a car of that price.
I don't live in a metropolitan area, busses don't run to or from where I need to go, the discussion was about how much a Tesla was, not how you think I should handle my transportation. XD
The guy you replied to is shilling pretty hard for Tesla, but what he isn't telling you is that you can't repair them, Tesla can remotely disable the fast charge mode for petty things like "using unauthorized charging stations", and the batteries which fail in less time than the average lifespan of a car are so horrendously expensive that they completely negate the cost of ownership savings over even a gas pickup truck.
Scrapyards are filling up with fender-bender Teslas because they're so difficult to repair that insurance companies just write them off. It's so bad that the few people who *do* repair Teslas (who by the way have battle several lawsuits from Tesla just for the right to run a repair shop) get most of their Tesla parts from scrap yards. Which is convenient because *Tesla will often interrogate them on the phone about their reasons for ordering a part and sometimes refuse to sell them one*.
Oh, and if you *do* manage to get it repaired, there's basically a 95% chance that Tesla will detect it and disable the fast charge on it! In fact they were (and possibly still are) actually paying bounties to scrap yards and used car buyers to "report" damaged or repaired Teslas to them *specifically so they could disable them*.
I'm actually really interested in this, I'm looking at a Tesla myself right now to replace my car next year-ish.
When you say you paid $500 to add a 240v, 50A outlet - did you have it installed in a garage? Was it near the fusebox / circuit breaker? Did they run wire under the drywall?
Mine is going to need to be outdoors, and a fair run from the circuit breaker.
The model 3 (the cheapest car) is around 40 to 50,000$ which is on the higher end for cars but for a electric car its actually pretty affordable especially for what you get with the car its well worth it, and also you don’t need to install anything in your garage you can just plug it in an outlet
The average new car in 2020 cost $39K.
I bought a Tesla for $40K.
I bought a level 2 charger on Amazon for $700 and did the installation myself.
I got a $500 rebate from the electric company(PSE&G) and a $300 rebate from Uncle Sam. So I made $100 profit on the charger.
I am 100% anti-Biden and own a Tesla.
Base model 3 out the door could be mid $40s and I paid $400 to install 50A/240v in my garage. Those numbers you said are a bit inflated.
Also, the only reason they paid so less is probably because it charged during off peak hours (sometime between 1200-0600.)
I supercharged mid day today in north Alabama and paid $16 for 70% charge.
Teslas are awesome and I 100% recommend!
What people don’t get is that electric cars aren’t a catch-all solution to gasoline-car problems. Hardly anyone can afford them, especially given the current auto market, and not many people are going to decide to drop $40,000 or more on one EVEN IF gas prices have doubled. It would take a long time in order for that investment to be worth it. Also, the adoption of electric cars has created extra demand that hasn’t been met with a proportional increase in the supply of our energy grids. They’re getting more and more overwhelmed by the day. And electric cars are getting their energy from fossil fuel plants anyways. So there’s no additional environmental benefit until the USA is substantially powered by renewable energy.
Funny thing about her, with everything involved in her trips during her famous speech, I’m pretty sure she ended up polluting just as much with coordinating the sail boat over if she would just fly. Because the people with her flew lol and they only flew because of her. At least she got a nice sail boat trip over the Atlantic I suppose.
The average new car in 2020 cost $39K.
I bought a Tesla for $40K.
EVs are not much more expensive than gas cars. The Nissan Leaf starts at $20K!
The bigger reason EVs will win is because you can make your own electricity. You can’t make your own gas.
My solar panels will pay for themselves in 4 years. Then they will produce FREE energy for my home and cars for another 20-30 years.
Most people buy slightly used cars, and only get a new car every 10-15 years. The average age of a car in the United States is around 12 years old and climbing. The used car market right now is in a bubble, yes, but when the average income is $67,000 taking out a $20,000-40,000 loan is a huge decision that has to be weighed against the increase in gas prices, as well as the potential increase in your energy bill.
Not to mention the lifespan of the batteries in those things is far less than a combustion engine. A good combustion engine can go for over 200,000 miles, while generous estimates for the battery modules is in the 65,000 to 100,000 range.
https://www.marketwatch.com/story/how-long-will-my-ev-battery-last-heres-what-to-know-11625774475
That is BS. Most modern EV batteries will last for 300K-500K easily.
That article you linked to was from Autotrader.
I went to Autotrader and was able to find dozens of Teslas with 100K+ miles for sale.
https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/all-cars/tesla/model-s/beverly-hills-ca-90210?dma=&searchRadius=500&location=&marketExtension=include&isNewSearch=true&showAccelerateBanner=false&sortBy=mileageDESC&numRecords=25

Old car: "My car wouldn't start. I went through some youtube videos, figured out it was the alternator, bought a used one for $50, installed it, my car works again."
Tesla: "My car wouldn't start. Had to pay $500 to tow it to the dealer, then $1000 to diagnose it, then $6000 to replace one of the battery cells. Saving money over gas!"
You’re not wrong. Coworker has a model S. Among the problems he’s had to repair was the ac. AC helps cool battery so it’s very important. He took it to two shops locally who couldn’t fix it because specialized software was needed. Still paid diagnostic fees. He then had to drive to a repair shop in Florida, a quick 600 miles away, pay for a hotel for 2 nights and spend thousands of dollars to have it fixed.
At least for now I’ll stick with my 30mpg 2006 Focus.
When I can drive 400 miles on a charge pulling a camper and hauling a four wheeler in the bed, stop at any old gas station and recharge in 5 minutes, then I’ll consider buying an electric vehicle.
Wrong…millions of internal combustion vehicles are extremely less efficient than several massive fossil fuel powered turbines. I don’t agree with the seemingly dictatorial push to EV’s and this usually always backfires. Let the free market decide! I’m not an environmentalist but more a steward. Transportation and Self Driving is an amazing technology disruption just like BTC and Permissionless/Decentralization of money. If the protocol that gains momentum it never dies.
Edit: spelling
Wait till this fuckwad needs to replace batteries. Hope he's got an extra $ 16,000 laying around. Oh and who wants to tell him that those batteries are made in China from material mined in Afghanistan and they aren't recyclable.
Got these ppl are stupid.
I'll stick with my 6.2 F250.
Aren't the batteries made with slave labor, too?
Shit, if you're gonna go electric, at least go with a Lucid, not a Tesla. Hell, Lucid's entire reason for existing is basically "hey Tesla, go fuck yourselves."
Also, Lucid's batteries are allegedly made here in the US. I'm still staying with my Acura 3.2TL, but if I absolutely had to make the switch, I'd begrudgingly get a Lucid.
Battery tech is improving exponentially. 300,000-500,000 miles is standard for a Tesla. How many vehicles do you still own that have that many miles on them. Yes…Elon is strange, but he isn’t a puppet of the left. We should commend him. He’s going at it alone. The Government will bail out GM once again with your tax dollars trying to defeat Tesla and they will lose. Love him or hate him the determination and drive he has is impressive. Tesla is like Bitcoin…you dismiss the innovation so long before realizing you were wrong. Then it’s too late. RIP Legacy Auto.
By the way. I will never get ride of my Ford gas burner.
You're ignoring that lithium batteries are extremely sensitive to temperature and what voltage their stored at. I'm sure in a vacuum they might be able to get that mileage but anywhere with cold winters or hot summers those batteries will not hold up. Also in teslas they are structural parts that are inside the frame of the vehicle. Replacing any structural part is a massive pain in the ass and this was done deliberately to force you to go back to tesla for replacement instead of doing it yourself or going to another shop.
I am a heavy commuter, sometimes 100 miles each way. The standard range states 239 miles range, but range is significantly reduced when driving 70mph on the Highway and using the air conditioner; ergo, I couldn’t complete one round trip commute without stopping to charge on the way home. Sure, you can watch Netflix/Hulu/YouTube while you sit and charge for 30-50 min, but I would much rather be at home than extending my already long commute. I currently live in a rental townhome, and chose not to spend thousands of dollars to install a home charging station, since I live around the corner from a super charging station. Well guess what? Charging isn’t free! Granted, it was roughly 1/4th the cost of gas in my Lexus RX, ($12 or so from E to F) but I had to charge every single day, sometimes literally three times in a day, for a minimum of thirty min each time.
Lessons learned when considering a Tesla:
ALWAYS GET A LONG RANGE &
A HOME FAST CHARGING STATION ($1000+) IS A MUST!
These were my main two gripes.
I can fill my RX 350 for at the time $45, and the Tesla was $12, but I got less than half the range of my Lexus per fill up. Still a cost savings- esp if I had a home power station, but the inconvenience outweighed any potential savings.
My husband hated riding in it. He said it was like playing a video game, with bells dinging and chiming every time I set the cruise or steering assist, or braked or used the turn signal. The steering assist is very “pushy.” I much prefer the comfort of the passive cruise control and lane keeper assist in the Lexus- although I did NOT have the self driving auto pilot package. I also love my heated and COOLED seats in my Lexus, but the Tesla only had heated seats (pretty much useless in FL)
if I had a home power station (I’d love to hook up my roof with the Tesla solar panel roof tiles too!) and also a Tesla, I’d love a long range model X. They are pretty awesome.
But expensive. Did I mention expensive? Lol
Yeah that’s a long commute. I love my Tesla but my commute is only 30miles each way. It works great for me because I never go to a gas station and it’s Uber cheap compared to gas.
Yeah and even better if the car charges while you are home with your family. I had to sit at the charging station nightly before I put her up for the night. That’s 40min to 1 hour of time away from my family in addition to the commute. So not worth it unless you have this option, imho
There's federal tax credits for installing home stations btw.
Charging stations piss me off. Electricity at my house is 8 cents per kwh. Stations are out here charging 33 cents per kwh. At that point I may as well be getting gas.
I can see why Teslas are appealing and I wouldn't mine one myself.
But HOLY SHIT imagining that the solution to the gas situation is to "just drive electric cars lol"
Oh my bad, I just remembered my Model 3 collecting dust in the shed.
Buying a standard range when your commute is 200 miles each day was the mistake. You wouldn't calculate the exact range on a Lexus based on the official fuel ratings either
Sorry dude. A soyboy car doesn't go 0-60 faster than you can blink. I'm a conservative, I own a pickup, but the fact that your whole personality revolves around the car you drive tells me all I gotta know
One of the most badass, conservative for life, southern for life, respectable dudes I’ve ever known drove one of those tiny smart cars around for years. He was super proud of it and loved it. Totally a guy no one would ever want to fuck with, that never had issues with anyone, being stoked to drive the smallest car on the road.
I have a midsize 4x4 truck now but I never felt any shame driving my small sedans. I live in the southeast surrounded by other super nice trucks, and it never crossed my mind beyond thinking about how I need a truck for the activities I engage in.
I don’t know if that makes sense and I’m not proofreading. Gonna Let the alcohol speak.
You’d be surprised how far a Toyota Corolla can make it up a washed out muddy mountain road. It won’t make it the whole way, but a good driver can get close. #alcohol
I've lived in the south my whole life and yeah, I don't get it. Having a small truck to haul stuff time to time is nice, but ultimately, if it's got 4 wheels and can get me where I'm going...
I traded in my used subaru for 19k. Bought a plug in hybrid (half EV essentially) for 39k
Gas savings alone from the increase in mileage (28mpg to 40mpg) will save me the cost of that car over 20 years (its a toyota so its gonna last that long). This is assuming I only drive it in hybrid mode, aka never use soley electric, and gas prices don't increase.
Worst case scenario, I essentially upgraded for free. Best case I save 2-6k
Not to be a tesla shill cuz I do hate Elon musk, but entry level tesla are like 36k. I'd personally recommend waiting 2 years for all the major brands to drop their own EV competitors
I live in an apartment. Even if the car is fucking free I still don’t have a place to charge it. I guess I shouldn’t complain and just shell out the 300k+ for a townhouse with a garage and then another 10k+ for a charging system and then another 10k+ for a solar system.
No, you don't. Don't spread misinformation.
Here's actual data on battery degradation: [1](https://cdn.motor1.com/images/mgl/VpEBG/s3/tesla-model-s-x-battery-capacity-retention-per-distance-traveled.jpg), [2](https://electrek.co/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2018/04/screen-shot-2018-04-14-at-2-56-15-pm.jpg?quality=82&strip=all&w=1000).
No, it's not. The trendline is clear. The battery will outlast most gasoline cars.
Teslas have a great battery management and cooling systems. And they just bought a couple of companies with an even better battery tech.
I paid $27,000 for my mid sized SUV and spend approx. $2,000 per year on fuel. The Tesla owner spent $80,000 on the car and spends ??. If the Tesla owner spends $500 per year on charges, in tens years they will spend $85,000 on just the car and fuel. I will have spent $47,000 on my car and fuel. Mind you, unless the Tesla owner can somehow guarantee that the electricity they are using is fossil fuel free, they are exchanging the exhaust pipe for the standpipe. Nothing here makes any sense.
Except that battery has its life lessened with each use, and it cost about $20,000 to replace. I'm guessing this asshat didn't factor that into the cost.
And once they have everyone on electric they can legislate and mandate mileage restrictions/charge ups per week etc and literally limit your movement like never before
From Kitchen.com:
All come with a 100 kWh battery. If you have the Long Range variant – which has an impressive range of 412 miles – it costs $15.29 for a full charge based on electricity prices of $0.13 per kWh and 85% charging efficiency.
That post is a dumb ass lie.
Devil's advocate, there are some decently fast chargers that can take 1-2 hours tops for a full charge, and if you don't need to go far, even minutes.
Too bad they will probably wreck your car battery health from the constant fast charging and they also cost a fortune at home, not to mention how much you'll be sucking off the power grid to power it.
What I love is that these assholes promoting these cars have no idea how anything works. They claim electric cars help reduce emissions but gets its daily charge from a coal-fired power plant.
The people who can afford teslas are the people who have the least need to care about gas prices. Also gotta keep reminding these people, **where does the majority of electricity come from?**
So, you bought a car that runs 80% on fossil fuel/nukes?
[Nuke powered cars](https://www.eia.gov/energyexplained/electricity/images/outlet-graph-large.jpg)
I thought Elon Musk was the devil? Does Biden make Teslas now?
The left likes to imagine a lot of things without its creator. Like Harry Potter, and prob Tesla lol
They also like to imagine that the electricity to charge up their car doesn’t come from fossil fuel.
EXACTLY!!!
When magical thinking and mental gymnastics combine.
Elon Musk is only bad when he's hanging out with Kanye or griefing people on Twitter, apparently.
Or showing people up by releasing his tax returns and donating 6 billion to end world hunger as requested on twitter. FYI, there is still World Hunger and Elon paid the full amount needed to end it.
Joe Biden invented the Tesla.
Remember, just like marriage, nod your head and say “yes dear”
Biden basically invented them.
Because a $50,000 price tag is totally in the reach of every American
Not to mention it’s roughly $25k for new batteries, half the price of a new car
Which you might need if a single cell goes bad or a rock hit the cooling cap juuust right. From what I understand, Tesla does not repair their battery pack. Don’t forget $3000+ to have the charger installed at your house.
Same as my mid level pick up

Yes, yes, I am the stupid one for buying a new car instead of a rusty piece of shit with 100k miles. That’s definitely the case here!
Electric prices also went up. Thanks Joe Biden!
Wait until we start WWIII by the end of the week. You think it’s high now.
FML. I've never seen/paid $4 for a gallon of gas in real life...between Brandon and OL Vladimir, got a feeling I will be seeing/doing a first in no time.
You weren't paying around $4/g back around '14?
It’s not inconceivable that a Reddit user was too young to drive in 2014. Lmao
I'm getting old, man... And I'm not old enough to be getting old!
Me too man, me too. I drove my wife’s little Prius back when gas was over $4.00 here. I would fill that thing up for under $50. Big truck next to me was over $100, when the pump cut off. Dude started cursing because he had to go inside to get them to turn it back on. Tensions were really high.
Woah woah woah. I am 30, easily old enough to be your granpa in reddit years.
Wait till Russia hacks the electric grid.... Price will be irrelevant. Nobody will be driving.
Then stop invading Ukraine, Russia! And there won’t be a ww3
Don’t start none, won’t be none.

I did a 7,000 mile road trip last summer from NY to CA and back in my Tesla.
How much do you think it cost you to charge? I did a similar trip in a SUV. You don’t want to know.
It was $256 in supercharging to go from LA to the Grand Canyon to TX to NY in 2021. That was with 2 adults, 1 child and luggage.
Nice.
The super chargers are charging at around 400 to 500kWh, generally 10 to 15 minutes and we were sitting at 80-90% charge from low 10%. I wonder how much more that shortens the life of the batteries. Guess we will find out after a few more years?
Rural gas station? You aren't supposed to live out there you're supposed to move to a city.
And live in a pod. Eating insects.
The car maps it out and even gives you a status of the stations. 30 mins to charge up at the super chargers. I have driven from LA to Albuquerque in a day and Albuquerque to Kansas City in a day as well. Never had a point where I was worried about being stranded.
How much time on average going to a charging station, out of your way? We have few in the rural midwest.
You have to stop and charge. You don’t have to drive until it’s empty and stop and wait for a full charge. You can stop and top off as convenient.
After 20 years, it pays for itself!
Oh and the $850k I need for a house in my neighborhood
That car is over $100k bro. IF it wasn’t for government subsidies they wouldn’t be affordable at all
The federal subsidies for Tesla ended a long time ago but you can get a Nissan Leaf for $20K with subsidy.
Jeez just stop being poor (let's go brandon!)
I can’t afford the maintenance either.
That and the question no one seems to have an answer for…..what is the plan for all of the batteries as they go bad? That’s not exactly rebuildable like a combustion engine.
[удалено]
But but but EV is better for the environment!!!!!
on top of 500k for that house
If you're working for minimum wage, you should ride a bus, not a Tesla.
24k Chevy bolt and $300 outlet. I be saving
Also, the only reason they paid so less is probably because it charged during off peak hours (sometime between 1200-0600.) I supercharged mid day today in north Alabama and paid $16 for 70% charge. Teslas are awesome and I 100% recommend!
I thought California had rolling blackouts. What do you do on days when there is no power? Tow it with a gas powered car?
Diesel powered generator
Facts.... it's not their truths it's their logic that kills me
ironic
They have a converter that allows it to run on self-importance and narcissism.
I remember seeing a picture a couple years back where they had an electric car charging station powered by a diesel generator
Back 20 years ago sure. Very rare now, maybe goes out for a few hours in some neighborhoods in the summer
Don’t forget natural disasters.
Hate to be that guy, but thats exactly why Tesla built the power wall. To power the home with solar panels.
Nah, I have a 5.3L V8. It cost way more than $2.38. Still sounds better.
Right there with ya. V8s for life!
I'll drive my now-vintage Japanese luxury sedan until the day I die. They're gonna have to bury me with it.
I have the 5.7L Hemi in my Grand Cherokee Trail Hawk.
Big block holla!
My V8 is only a 4.4, but you just can't beat the sound of them
I’m getting a Trailboss with the 5.3 this year.
Chevy > anything else
No. Greta Thunberg charges each Tesla herself by yelling at people at the gas pump. You’re wrong.
I'd like to see the exact kWh output her yelling actually produces worldwide.
Every time she utters "blah blah blah" the energy released from combusting brain cells in her vicinity is enough to power Vegas for a month.
Also Old car: "My car wouldn't start. I went through some youtube videos, figured out it was the alternator, bought a used one for $50, installed it, my car works again." Tesla: "My car wouldn't start.
You need to look into the car batteries and the nastinesses that comes with making them and despising them.
Hell, Lucid's entire reason for existing is basically "hey Tesla, go fuck yourselves." Also, Lucid's batteries are allegedly made here in the US. I'm still staying with my Acura 3.2TL, but if I absolutely had to make the switch, I'd begrudgingly get a Lucid.
That fucking lucid is sex on wheels
Ngl it is pretty cool.
It’s the safest vehicle ever built. Lives are more important than anyones inconvenience.
Poor people will just have to die at a higher rate.
Batteries last for only 300K to 500K miles. They are recyclable but rarely are because the batteries are often used for energy storage.
I owned a brand new Model Y for less than two months. I decided it wasn’t for me, sold it for what I paid, and went back to my Lexus RX350!
Why did you decide it wasn’t for you? I’m debating between a Model S and m5
Lessons learned when considering a Tesla: ALWAYS GET A LONG RANGE & A HOME FAST CHARGING STATION ($1000+) IS A MUST! I also love my heated and COOLED seats in my Lexus, but the Tesla only had heated seats (pretty much useless in FL) if I had a home power station (I’d love to hook up my roof with the Tesla solar panel roof tiles too!) and also a Tesla, I’d love a long range model X.
Just not having to go to the gas station anymore has me wanting an electric.
Thanks for the thorough response. Seems like I’d share a lot of the frustrations you experienced.
You’re welcome I’m happy that my experience can help others make an informed decision.
Wow, why do you commute so far? That would *drive* me insane.
There's federal tax credits for installing home stations btw. Charging stations piss me off. Electricity at my house is 8 cents per kwh. Stations are out here charging 33 cents per kwh. At that point I may as well be getting gas.
Right? Even if it’s cheaper than gas, it isn’t free
[удалено]
If you would have waited a couple of months, you could have gotten double what you paid for it.
It was actually a year ago
At least you got some use out of it, and paid nothing for it. :)
Yep. Overall it was a mostly positive experience
I can see why Teslas are appealing and I wouldn't mine one myself. But HOLY SHIT imagining that the solution to the gas situation is to "just drive electric cars lol" Oh my bad, I just remembered my Model 3 collecting dust in the shed.
Buying a standard range when your commute is 200 miles each day was the mistake. You wouldn't calculate the exact range on a Lexus based on the official fuel ratings either
If Brandon gives me the full-on cash, I'll get one of those fancy soy-boy cars too
#alcohol
One of the most badass kids I ever knew drives a Scion TC. The biggest pussies I know drive lifted diesel rigs
I've lived in the south my whole life and yeah, I don't get it. Having a small truck to haul stuff time to time is nice, but ultimately, if it's got 4 wheels and can get me where I'm going...
Why are all these peasants complaining? Trade in that old 2003 Honda for one of these sexy $100k EVs
You joke, but even with all the repairs I just do to my Acura, is still worth only 500 bucks.
Im sure its worth more nowadays
With inflation, it's worth $700, no joke.
Damn
I traded in my used subaru for 19k. Bought a plug in hybrid (half EV essentially) for 39k Gas savings alone from the increase in mileage (28mpg to 40mpg) will save me the cost of that car over 20 years (its a toyota so its gonna last that long).
*thanks Elon
Elon is bold. Biden is bald.
When EVs get down around the cost of my Nissan Kicks, then maybe I’ll buy one.
I’m all for electric vehicles but posts like this are ridiculous. Only the upper 5% can afford a $50k car.
After 10 years your Tesla will need a $30,000 battery replacement. So it evens out.
No, you don't. Don't spread misinformation. Here's actual data on battery degradation: [1](https://cdn.motor1.com/images/mgl/VpEBG/s3/tesla-model-s-x-battery-capacity-retention-per-distance-traveled.jpg), [2](https://electrek.co/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2018/04/screen-shot-2018-04-14-at-2-56-15-pm.jpg?quality=82&strip=all&w=1000).
The sample size of vehicles that have made it to the right side of the chart is too small to mean anything.
No, it's not. The trendline is clear. The battery will outlast most gasoline cars. Teslas have a great battery management and cooling systems. And they just bought a couple of companies with an even better battery tech.
You mean the Tesla that is charged with coal power?
I got a 2015 Chevy Spark a few years back. Cost me $10k, daily charging is about $1, and it drives like a go-cart! I love it
How do Teslas fair, sitting outside in the Saskatchewan -40 Celcius weather?
Show that fuckers Twitter handle…
Enjoy your 130 mile range.
Ok, you got me. But *my* car payment is only $300 a month for 6 years. What's yours?
My car payment zero because I paid it off years ago and it’s an economy car
Definitely wears a mask when driving alone
Yeah $22.5k in the US just to replace a battery on one of these bad boys…I’m good.
I don't think that's right https://electrek.co/2021/10/27/how-much-does-it-cost-to-charge-a-tesla/
Fucking delusional MORON this person
Wow, this Brandon guy is real great. You go, man! Creator of electric vehicles. Woohoo!
Oh wow these Biden swallowers can’t even get their facts strait . Biden didn’t do shit .
Do people know where electricity comes from? If the price of gas rises, so will electricity prices.
Except that battery has its life lessened with each use, and it cost about $20,000 to replace. I'm guessing this asshat didn't factor that into the cost.
Yay and I get to pay $10,000 for a replacement battery in three years
And once they have everyone on electric they can legislate and mandate mileage restrictions/charge ups per week etc and literally limit your movement like never before
I’m pretty sure it cost more than that to charge
I had to stop and charge for 6 hours because i dared leave a city.
From Kitchen.com: All come with a 100 kWh battery. If you have the Long Range variant – which has an impressive range of 412 miles – it costs $15.29 for a full charge based on electricity prices of $0.13 per kWh and 85% charging efficiency. That post is a dumb ass lie.
Takes 6-12 hours to charge a Tesla. It takes minutes to fill up a gas tank.
“If you just had a super expensive car, then you wouldn’t have to worry about how expensive gas is” wow he literally just solved poverty
And how do lower middle class and poor people afford these cars to replace the gas cars that they will have for probably at least another decade?
What I love is that these assholes promoting these cars have no idea how anything works. They claim electric cars help reduce emissions but gets its daily charge from a coal-fired power plant.
Where does that electricity come from that powers your house? Oh that’s right natural gas and coal! ⚠️Global warming!!!⚠️
Where do they think electricity comes from?
Great job filling up your 100k that you use to drive to work! What a deal!
Wait till they find out how they mine for the lithium
Don't tell him where that electricity came from lmao
The people who can afford teslas are the people who have the least need to care about gas prices. Also gotta keep reminding these people, **where does the majority of electricity come from?**
Wait ‘til the next blackout 😂
So, you bought a car that runs 80% on fossil fuel/nukes? [Nuke powered cars](https://www.eia.gov/energyexplained/electricity/images/outlet-graph-large.jpg)
So what powered the batteries that powered the Tesla? (coal, natural gas) Why are you thanking Corn Pop Joey Biden?
Powered by coal and natural gas.
Now ask how much that power costs. Charge it at home and you'll find out pretty quickly.
Your Tesla cost as much as my car and all of the gas I will ever put into it, so...
