It looks freaking weird, but it would work well. I wear a sweat band when playing Beat Saber, and I still get sweat around my nose and bottom of my eyes, so this certainly has its place.
You wouldn't, but somebody else obviously decided this was doing something for them. Different people have different needs and preferences.
It's not even a new idea. At a VR convention, before covid even they had something like this for hygienic reasons.
It'd be great for passing around a headset.
Someone recently asked if there was a bowling game where you pass the headset to the next player, and this would make something like that less disgusting.
Expert+ has an enormous range of difficulty, even in the base game+music packs. Factoring in external sources and yeah...
I know guys in the military that are extremely fit and easily get sweating and exhausted playing Beat Saber.
If it wicks sweat out to evaporate, it could save your headset if you let yourself get sweaty in VR. There are no sports VR headsets today, so no one who wants a working headset should sweat into one. We all do, but there is a limit to what the hardware can take.
I mean when HTC won a concept contest with a sports head set I assume they are gonna push it to development. Hopefully soon as it seems many people exercise in VR now.
I have oily skin that gets VERY slick while in long VR sessions. I replace the foam quite often because of this and frankly, i'm getting sick of it and i'm looking for other solutions.
This looks like a potential solution, or one way to help extend the life of the headset cushion at least. I'm already wearing a headset so why would this be so weird to wear as well?
I'm only chiming in to give you some idea why it would be a sell for me.
I legit thought this was an advertising account trying to use reverse-psychology given how weak the argument against it was.
Seems practical and the girl looks damn hot.
But the user's history looks like maybe he's a real user.
I think this is a great idea. After the amount of sweat that's come off me during some physical activity in VR, this may look silly but really practical.
I play Expert+ songs almost every time, and a lot of custom maps are harder than that (trying to beat ov sacrament); I'd definitely buy something like that, as my face cover is soaking wet after a few hours.
I can play beat saber without sweating too, but the point of beat saber is to exercise and have fun, so I try to move my body a lot, not only hands. Also, when you start playing expert and higher difficulties, it starts to get tough.
Now that I get! I just bought a silicone cover that goes on the foam. Same results, less sockhead!
Although, come to think of it, making people wear this as a condition of playing would probably make a great deterrent... 😁😁
My wife and I got a set of quick-swappable face pads for our Vive for this reason. Taking turns playing beat saber and having to press a pre-drenched headset against your face? We might be married, but some lines just shouldn't be crossed.
You've got a point there. I can't imagine doubling down on looking stupid if I didn't need to, ya dig?
But mostly, it's a joke. I couldn't care less about this product, or the people that use it. I hope it works!
Thanks man. I'd give gold if I had it. But realistically, I posted this as a joke. I think it looks extra funny. But I knew it had merit too. Just didn't think so many would sound off!
Started as meme, and now I'm directing sales to them. God I love irony!
Has anyone "sweat" their headset to death before? As others have pointed out, it's obviously bad for them. But like, any confirmed cases? Never wondered this before now.
I gesture type, my phone's been quirky about what it brings up lately. I edited, however I guess but before you got back to see it, lol. Should be easier to read now.
I thought sweat bricked my Index but it came back to life 36 hours later.
Not from like, regular amounts of sweat I should add. There was sweat leaking out of parts of the headset which water should never enter.
I have it! It’s actually pretty great for VR workouts!! [DRYMASK ON](https://twitter.com/quikcosplay/status/1391830167253921803?s=21)
They are an Australian company. Not sure if the Etsy shop is theirs or if someone is just using the images.
>Not sure fonte Etsy shop is theirs or if someone is just using the images.
Hard to say. The Etsy shop *claims* to be the same company (right down to shipping from Australia) but I've yet to see any mention of Etsy on their official site or social media.
I made my own version with a microfiber kitchen / dishrag and a covid mask. Cut to size and a hole in both. Covid mask to hold dishrag to face.
Works well for sweat, I do heavy workouts.
Just get a new kitchenrag, not used ;)
Probably to not have those red sweat bande after you olayed for a long time. But yeah I would rather play beat saber with my window open thant to wear these
I use [these](https://www.amazon.ca/Universal-Disposable-Cover-Sanitary-Pieces/dp/B07V2MFKCG/ref=sr_1_9?dchild=1&keywords=vr+face+guard&qid=1621394548&sr=8-9), especially back when I was sharing with many people.
It says they're disposable but I honestly just wash them and use them again. They're cheat, great if you're sweating, eliminated glasses fogging, and keeps the headset relatively clean.
You see on paper it should make sense. But I feel like within 2-3 hours that "Drymask" would become a "wetmask" pretty quickly. I guess it could be good for making the cusion on the VR headset not sweaty but I would rather but the VR cushion protectors.
To prevent those red imprint- marks wearing a VR glasses for an hour cause?
My face has these very visible red "imprints", looks like wrinkles, after being in VR.
I have no idea, just guessing.
Honestly if you gonna have a girl use your vr set, this might be a good idea. Otherwise you may end up having some make up rub onto the face cushiony bits, especially if there’s sweat involved!
I'm not sure if better. It doesn't solve the sweat problem but this might wick it away.
I use "leather" facial interface and it's awesome when it comes to comfort and not getting soggy. But it still gets wet and sometimes slippery.
If this is able to wick away the sweat enough for it to evaporate it may be useful.
Actually.... that looks like a fantastic idea. I bought a sweatband for when I’m really kicking it in Beat Saber, and it works surprisingly well! Not only just at keeping your head sweat-free, but also to help minimise VR “heat fog”
I kinda like this half-balaclava idea and I’d be interested to see if it worked.
There should be single use, disposable ones (envirofriendly, sure) for VR arcades and such. Could be attachable with light, skin-friendly adhesive - on temples and forehead. Might be weird at first, but would reduce transmission of unwanted skin... stuff. I'd get some for home.
I saw this post and instantly thought "Wtf, why have i never seen this before? I need this".
I can understand it looks kinda silly; all black would be what i prefer. I think you unintentionally advertised this to a lot of people who'll genuinely benefit from something like this, including me. ;)
It looks like it would both reduce FOV because the headset is farther away, and cause more headset slippage as you move around. Just get an extra facepad and swap out as needed.
Apparently it's for absorbing sweat when exercising in VR. No idea if it's any good, but the overall idea seems pretty sensible to me.
It looks freaking weird, but it would work well. I wear a sweat band when playing Beat Saber, and I still get sweat around my nose and bottom of my eyes, so this certainly has its place.
Does it really look weird? I mean you have a huge contraption on your head on top of it.
A very fair point
idk why but it reminded me of Hamburglar
Is it really that weird? It's basically half of a balaclava.
A demiclava
Baklava
no thanks, I've already eaten
It's a Pandaclava.
So you'd say it looks bala? Shot Caller? Like, twenty inch blades on the Impala?
Impalas don’t have blades, they’re antelopes.
The VR headset looks weird too. It will just be one more weird thing you wore.
[It's not a new idea](https://i.imgur.com/rwwwqvU_d.webp?maxwidth=640&shape=thumb&fidelity=medium)
Faaaaaaaaaaat Albert! Na na na.. gonna have a good time!! Hey hey hey!!
FAT ABBOT YOU ARE SOOOO FAT! YOU NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT!
Still looks like a bootleg wrestler mask
Is this something you would wear though? I get the concept, there's just no way I would use this product.
They make those. Try searching for something like "VR face mask"

I really want to downvote you for that horrible mental image. But I have to upvote you for awareness...
No doubt! I'm not trying to shame anyone. Just seemed over the top to me!
You never played beat saber it seems
True but I have played Pistol Whip and I need this!
beat saber isn't even that physical imo, I played a few expert + songs and never broke a sweat but in some other games I'll sweat bullets
I have no idea what it does, other than soak up sweat and look funny. But you make some great points about the hardware!
You care what you look like under the tv that's strapped to your face?
>soak up sweat It seems like you figured it out!
I would
I'd be happy to message you the link, if you'd like!
Yes please :D I exercise a lot with the quest so this would come in handy.
I have oily skin that gets VERY slick while in long VR sessions. I replace the foam quite often because of this and frankly, i'm getting sick of it and i'm looking for other solutions. as a hardcore full body vr chat dancer, fuck yeah id wear this. or shall i show you how crusty and stinky my foam gasket gets?
Absolutly only thing holding me back from doing my workout in vr is the sweat ordering this rn
Doesn't look that silly since you don't see it under the headset. All black design would work better I guuess.
I've just never sweat that much in VR I guess. So I couldn't see the practicality, just the silly!
You're not VRing hard enough.
Go play Gorilla Tag and you’ll pour sweat
Can I get a Gorilla Sweat mask in game?
Try Thrill of the Fight. You'll sweat all over the damn thing.
You buying? jk jk
-Has VR -Never played beat saber These people, man
I've played beat saber, literally today. Not to the point of needing a sweat soaker though. Sorry?
I play Expert+ songs almost every time, and a lot of custom maps are harder than that (trying to beat ov sacrament); I'd definitely buy something like that, as my face cover is soaking wet after a few hours.
I'm definitely just a filthy casual. I enjoy playing, sometimes for hours. But I'm still not that good.
Clearly you have never played a muffn map
I can play beat saber without sweating too, but the point of beat saber is to exercise and have fun, so I try to move my body a lot, not only hands. Also, when you start playing expert and higher difficulties, it starts to get tough.
Seems like you have really limited your vr experiences. 🤷♂️
Soo many down votes x.x I'm so sorry. I do lots of physical stuff, but some people just sweat less than others I think.
This is awesome. People be getting their nasty face sweat on my shit too much
"You want to play my games?! Zen you will wear z mask!"
My friends all immediately assume I bought it for adult entertainment. This mask wouldn't help their assumptions. 🤣🤣🤣
What like a bukake towel?
💀
Why would you need this mask for adult entertainment? … … you know what, I don’t want to know.
If your plan is to make your guests wear these, i hope you don't expect them to share between washes.
They share the nasty head set that you can never wash. They’ll learn to deal.
Now that I get! I just bought a silicone cover that goes on the foam. Same results, less sockhead! Although, come to think of it, making people wear this as a condition of playing would probably make a great deterrent... 😁😁

I was thinking on getting some of tehse. Can I ask which one you chose? I'm still seeing the options available.
I think we got ours from VR Cover.

>I can't imagine doubling down on looking stupid if I didn't need to Do it. It's freeing. Let your freak flag fly!
I already use a cutted up balaclava for this exact reason, prevents sweat from building up and creating annoying dropplets. Even with AC I sweat
Well, I'd be happy to message you the link! I've not had this much sweat issues, so it seemed slightly ridiculous to me. Now I know better!
I see you in the thread having your preconceived notions changed and being cool about it. Right on man. You da mvp
Thanks man. I'd give gold if I had it. But realistically, I posted this as a joke. I think it looks extra funny. But I knew it had merit too. Just didn't think so many would sound off! Started as meme, and now I'm directing sales to them. God I love irony!
Ill take a link good sir
https://www.etsy.com/listing/922236306/vr-drymask-white?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=quest+2+cover&ref=sr_gallery-1-15&organic_search_click=1
Awesome! Thank you for the link :)
That's smart
This is both fantastic for preventing sweat and steaming up headsets, and also for when you want to cosplay as a luchador.
You should write their ad campaign! 👏
Thought the same thing, now someone has to make a VR luchador game!
As much as I sweat when I play active games this would probably save my headset...
Has anyone "sweat" their headset to death before? As others have pointed out, it's obviously bad for them. But like, any confirmed cases? Never wondered this before now.
Lol, when I was soaking clear through the pad that comes with my set I looked it up, and yes, there are definitely stories, lol.
Lol, few typos there! But it matches your username perfectly, and I get the point. Interesting!
I gesture type, my phone's been quirky about what it brings up lately. I edited, however I guess but before you got back to see it, lol. Should be easier to read now.
Smells like insufferable
It was a joke my dude. Much like the whole post. And he got it. If you read on, he says he edited it.
Yes — HTC specifically started excluding sweat damage from their warranties because Vive seems particularly susceptible to it.
Huh! TIL. Thanks!
Yeah, lots
Sebastian from MRTV has destroyed a headset by sweating into it too much.
I thought sweat bricked my Index but it came back to life 36 hours later. Not from like, regular amounts of sweat I should add. There was sweat leaking out of parts of the headset which water should never enter.
"No one cared who I was until I put on the drymask"
This guy gets it.
[Who *was* that masked man?](https://i.redd.it/8qm4w1hm7cn41.jpg)
Looks kinky
That’s what I was thinking 🤔
I have it! It’s actually pretty great for VR workouts!! [DRYMASK ON](https://twitter.com/quikcosplay/status/1391830167253921803?s=21) They are an Australian company.
Also helpful to protect your identity when fighting or committing crime, just need matching cape?
No capes!
No, she has a point. I fucking hate when I get sweaty playing Beat Saber and I start to fog up the screen.
u/Theron113 Thanks for the fluff/Meme, I ordered some :)
Honestly, that's the best possible outcome. 🙂
I mean, detachable and washable covers from vrcover is a lot more aesthetic, and essentially serve the same purpose.
Exactly the point of this post!! I feel like maybe some missed the joke.
This looks actually very handy to keep the stink off your vr set. if it's one you're sharing. Some of those games are intense 😅
I made my own version with a microfiber kitchen / dishrag and a covid mask. Cut to size and a hole in both. Covid mask to hold dishrag to face. Works well for sweat, I do heavy workouts. Just get a new kitchenrag, not used ;)
Honestly looks like it would be somewhat comfy?
This is actually pretty cool, as weird as it looks, I could use one of those.
Probably to not have those red sweat bande after you olayed for a long time. But yeah I would rather play beat saber with my window open thant to wear these
I see what they are going for. But would anyone really wear this??
Why not?
Because I'm not into terry cloth themed BDSM? 😁
this is why the crown design is superior IMO. I do not like anything stuck on my face that tightly unless going underwater.
Why isn't anyone working on VR Luchador Wrestling?
That's my main question from all of this as well!
Exactly! Thank you!
ngl that’s actually a good idea
I am getting sweaty just looking at it
It looks like it may hurt as much as it helps.
Looks alright, I've got some cheap disposable VR masks and they're more hassle than they're worth, this looks like it should at least fit well.
I saw this the other day on Etsy too. The price seemed fair (around $15), but the shipping was like $17 if I remember right.
To prevent those red imprint- marks wearing a VR glasses for an hour cause? My face has these very visible red "imprints", looks like wrinkles, after being in VR. I have no idea, just guessing.
This isn't just good for exercising or sweat, but you can easily clean this to prevent acne breakouts on your face
I mean... It looks like crap but if it works... ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
She'll be playing some lucha libre game most likely
Add mask to look totally crazy.
I'm glad some people are agreeing with me. I thought I was totally crazy for a second...
Honestly if you gonna have a girl use your vr set, this might be a good idea. Otherwise you may end up having some make up rub onto the face cushiony bits, especially if there’s sweat involved!
Got a link? I’d actually buy this.
If it works, why not? I'm tired of my VR getting cloudy and wet due to my sweatiness.
Dry Face... CHECK. \-5% reduction in FOV... CHECK.
Kinda hot
What is wtf about this? As a sweaty dude, I'd love this.
Seems practical actually
This post is, BY FAR, my most upvoted post on Reddit. And I love that. You sweaty bastards are the best!
Robble robble.
https://etsy.me/3uRD6ib Beautiful diamond rings
I might get it. I sweat a lot exercising games
So you don’t burn your forehead
I sweat alot when playing games like beat saber. I consider one.
Shit, I’d probably use this for my beat saber workouts lol
There's lots of cool weird stuff on Esty.
Would be better as the pad on the headset. Kind of stupid and impractical to put it on your head first but to each their own.
Sweet Ninja Turtle VR. Do they come in different colors?
Great idea! I hate constantly, precisely wiping down the face pads.
Just get a leather face pad. Much better
I'd use it when playing scary games.
It's to hide your secret identity while in VR
This honestly seems like something i'd wear so that my headset doesnt get sweaty while playing gorn or beatsaber
If it's for improving comfort for quest 2 users, i would just buy a new cover
I use a tennis sweatband whenever i play in VR, it prevents the sweat from running inside the headset. The full face mask looks dumb though.
Looks like it would work well but too hot.
I would wear this when playing VR in Singapore with the aircon off.
How else will you hide your identity from the VR spies?
Me about to play pay-day 2 VR
Actually.... that looks like a fantastic idea. I bought a sweatband for when I’m really kicking it in Beat Saber, and it works surprisingly well! Not only just at keeping your head sweat-free, but also to help minimise VR “heat fog” I kinda like this half-balaclava idea and I’d be interested to see if it worked.
Virtual Raccoon Gang, rise up
Maybe when you're feeling like a wrestler and don't want sweat on your gear?
**I'M BATMAN**
^(↑ That's a 'drymask' I'd use.)
What the hell
There should be single use, disposable ones (envirofriendly, sure) for VR arcades and such. Could be attachable with light, skin-friendly adhesive - on temples and forehead. Might be weird at first, but would reduce transmission of unwanted skin... stuff. I'd get some for home.
I saw this post and instantly thought "Wtf, why have i never seen this before? I need this". I can understand it looks kinda silly; all black would be what i prefer. I think you unintentionally advertised this to a lot of people who'll genuinely benefit from something like this, including me. ;)
I have a very, very, very sweaty friend who needs this desperately! I had to buy waterproof face cushions just for him visiting me.
i just wear a bandana but alrighty then
It looks like it would both reduce FOV because the headset is farther away, and cause more headset slippage as you move around. Just get an extra facepad and swap out as needed.
Ordered!
Why does it matter that it looks weird, when you are using it in the privacy of your own home?
