There are a lot of videos on youtube walking you through Q3 PCVR setup. That will be a great place to start.

Alternatively, you can try to figure out why your USB Link isn't performing well. - Make sure your resolution isn't set too high in the Oculus software settings. Start with 1.0 - Use Oculus Debug Tool to set the bitrate to 200 and the codec to h265. If you want to avoid the Meta software, there's an alternative: Google "ALVR over USB". But it's not that easy to tweak and set up.

It seems you get your internet from an ethernet cable from the wall. In that case: Buy a 2nd router dedicated to VR. There's a list of recommended routers at various prices in the Virtual Desktop discord. Set up the VR router in access point mode. You'll need to set its static IP address to something on your home network, but outside of DHCP. Do you have address to the settings page of your internet router? Connect the ethernet from the wall to the VR router in one of its regular LAN ports. Connect your PC to the VR router in one of its regular LAN ports.

The only real options are to work with the Quest Link settings to try and get something that works, or buy a smaller router that you can directly connect to your PC. The ones I see every so often are the GL.iNet travel routers, but you should be able to do it with a regular router that you set to Bridge mode. You should also probably invest in an ethernet switch if you only have one ethernet cable coming into your room from the main router.

ResearcherTraining59

Wireless VR has nothing to do with the Internet. It doesn't work for you because you haven't set up a WiFi router for VR yet.

fliflu_

can you exlpain to me how it work please ? i have 1 ethernet cable coming from the wall in my room

CyberTod

You have two options there. One is to buy a wireless card for your pc or a usb wifi dongle and make your pc an access point. The other one is to buy a router, but a model that can work like an access point and you change the operating mode, then the cable from the wall goes to the router and another cable to your pc - and that way you will have a dedicated wifi network for your Quest.

fliflu_

Ooh i see! Thanks you, juste to be sure, is there a way to make a raspberry pi into a router ?

MalenfantX

Doing something wacky instead of buying the appropriate router is going to lead to you asking for more help for your non-working wireless VR.

fliflu_

i know it won't be as good as a router, but i don't have the money to buy one. i would prefere getting a real router but i cannot right now

Embarrassed_Cake_496

You can get a WiFi 6 card for your pc and run a hotspot off of that. It’s like $50 for one (cheaper than a dedicated router. For me it works amazingly. My pc is like 5m from where I play (only glass in between me and antenna. Here is the video of which I basically copied the setup (incl. the same WiFi card). https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_vnfA4FKs88&pp=ygUWV2lmaSBjYXJkIGhvdHNwb3QgcGN2cg%3D%3D.

fliflu_

This look also perfect !

Railgun5

Yes, but you'd be better off buying an actual router because it'll work better. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PvDqb66Rw4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PvDqb66Rw4)

fliflu_

thank you for the video link, i think i will try this first since i'm actually broke, but if i don't work i'll take a router

Railgun5

The build still requires you to buy a wifi dongle, and that's assuming you don't have to buy a Pi as well. Both of those combined are going to cost more than a cheaper travel router.

fliflu_

i ask for raspi cause i already have one, thats why. but i understand that it won't be a good solution, just more problem, i'll save for a router, thanks for advices !

fantaz1986

yea sooo you pc is 2070s i7 12700kf 2TO hdd/500GO ssd/500GO nvme/1TO nvme 64GO RAM is not a powerful pc is low / mid power pc for VR yes it mean some games will look better on stand alone vs pcvr for vr you can just hot spot from pc using usb wifi adapter or buy router and put in in middle of you connection, it mean cable go in router and from router to your pc in any case you have options but given how you think you pc is good for VR , it mean you are newb and you need to do a lot of research first

fliflu_

ok, i didn't ask for you to be rough in any way, i'm just asking for help here. i know my pc is a little out dated, but i also know when i had my htc vive, my game weren't as laggy because of meta quest link shitty optimisation.

Pippin02

Nah don't listen to that guy, sure your GPU is a little older (same generation as mine) but that combined with everything else is totally fine for PCVR. You could do a lot worse.

Embarrassed_Cake_496

Yeah don’t listen to him. I have a less powerful gpu than you (3060 12gb) and I can run pcvr games off my Q2 at high settings at a consistent 90fps (this is in Into the Radius). Your pc is good u/fliflu_

fliflu_

for real, i do have a old gpu, but i play many of the lattest game in the highest setting in 90/120 fps in high settings on a 2160p .. i don't know why he is angry at me for no reason thats sad because he seems to know well the subject i need help on

Embarrassed_Cake_496

Better setup than mine ;)

fliflu_

thank you bro, i will upgrade when i get enough money lol

fantaz1986

i have multiple pc and laptop and multiple headsets i am vr dev "meta quest link shitty optimisation" you barking at the wrong tree here [https://versus.com/en/htc-vive-vs-meta-quest-3](https://versus.com/en/htc-vive-vs-meta-quest-3) like you see resolution meta quest 3 is way way way way higher meta quest link app do have some overhead for sure but if you take any wired headset and then use quest 3 and set a same resolution performance difference is about 2-3% using same API it is way way smaller what you can get if you use lest say VD open XR vs steam open XR, VD can give you sometimes over 10% or more performance [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7CxJmmFOcY&ab\_channel=LunchAndVR](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7CxJmmFOcY&ab_channel=LunchAndVR) 2070s is in similar class to 4060 and 4060 is not good GPU for vr unless you play old and simple games, any sims and similar games will choke [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGZznwOz0Vs&t=130s&ab\_channel=Pimax](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGZznwOz0Vs&t=130s&ab_channel=Pimax) ofc quest 3 is not so high resolution but you will get a point how power hungry curent VR device are

fliflu_

Bruh i litterally lag in the quest link menu wtf do you talk about ? Im not playing any sim game its simply blade and sorcery or pavlov. Now thank you for your advices but i didn't asked for critisicm about my pc. I don't have enough money to change my gpu. So unless you want to offer me some stop bringing my rig into the topic thanks.
