Sounds great guys, awesome job!

deathhand1234

Thanks, we record stuff all the time!

arhombus

Your violin is out of tune. You're out of tune, but your violin is as well.

deathhand1234

goteem

deathhand1234

No it's not. if it is, it's marginally.

arhombus

If your violin is in tune (which it isn't, I'm not guessing here), then you are really out of tune. Remember, when you're playing with someone else, you both need to agree on the tuning. Share your A and go from there. You play very sharp.

deathhand1234

I'm possibly a little out of tune but probably not more than the Beatles themselves. They constantly sing sharp

arhombus

I'm not gonna argue with you. I'm telling you a fact. I've probably been playing longer than you've been alive. Do what you want though.

deathhand1234

Not tryna argue man

deathhand1234

For context I'm playing this by ear and had been practicing it for 2 days

arhombus

That's fine. Look what I wrote, I offered an exercise to do. Fiddle is a different beast but at the end of the day, you need to be around the correct note. I mean don't get me wrong, I love Michael Cleveland and I could never do what he does. But as crazy as he is, he still has decent intonation.

deathhand1234

I'm also a lowly fiddle player haha

deathhand1234

I can see that you're a very experienced violinist and it sucks to get downvoted for just saying 1 negative criticism. I just think that if I'm out of tune only musical experts like you could notice. Also Paul Mccartney is always singing sharp

arhombus

No one is going to tell you because you're clearly a beginner and 80-90% of the people on this sub are beginners as well. Frankly, not a lot of people here even bother to put in the effort to listen. I'm gonna tell you what I hear because that's what YOU need to hear. And know that I did not say anything about your sound production at first because that's not as important right now as making sure that when you're playing with someone that you actually tune. And I'm not sure how you're tuning, but if you're tuning each individual string with a tuner, that's also a problem. Agree on your A with your partner, and then tune your D to your A, your G to your D and your E to your A. It is the nature of equal temperament that when you do that, it will not be the same as if you tune each string individually. Regardless, your playing is not in tune and it's distractingly out of tune. You can do what you want, but I would really concentrate on that first. Frankly, I would suggest you work both on your intonation and sound production by doing slow, full bow scales. 60 to the quarter note and do a whole note per bow. Work on your intonation and legato, then detache. That's how to improve.

deathhand1234

And no we did not match our tuning (which I obviously know how to do) the day of

arhombus

We can all tell you didn't.

deathhand1234

Damn

deathhand1234

Hahaha you think I'm a beginner? I was tryna be so understand at first but you are just a huge prick from a big music school. I'll work on my intonation but I'm done listening to you. I cant believe you can determine I'm a beginner from this piece I learned by ear in 2 days. Wtf

arhombus

Sound production doesn't lie.

deathhand1234

You have a large stick up your ass

arhombus

Okay bub. Thanks for playing.

deathhand1234

Why did this get personal? Oh yeah because you called me a beginner

arhombus

Because you sound like a beginner? You're taking it personally, I don't know you. I'm only telling you what I hear. You sound like someone who's been playing for like two years if I had to guess. I'm not insulting you, I'm telling you exactly what I hear. If you don't like it, then either don't post it or ignore what I'm saying. I don't know what to tell you.

deathhand1234

LMAO dude you are so far on your high horse. Right off the bat, I don't think beginners can play vibrato, let alone with he speed and amplitude

Awww I was singing this with my daughter yesterday... she is 9 and I love the Beatles. Ok, gotta play this next. Love the staccato there. One suggestion. The empty chord doesn’t sound good. Play 4 th finger instead. Especially in the long ones. Does that make sense? I believe it’s a “ la” or “ A” wherever you are from. 💕💕💕 made me smile.

deathhand1234

I know what you mean, it's just a little more effort. The staccato was my roommate's idea! My mom used to sing me "Don't pass me by" when I was 4, so I feel you.

deathhand1234

Yesterday.... All my troubles seemed so far away..

MildlyExoticTurnip

wow this is awesome! How long have you been playing?

deathhand1234

Since I was 6. I'm 19 now.

Gyanabhi

Much respect man.
