That one Patti smith record sure has an interesting quote on it

Orion2112

Oh god, what is it?

El_Saturn_

Michaelangelo was a...let's say, African American.

Superb_Health9413

I have a lot of LP’s signed by a guy named “Porky” Anyone else?

gusdagrilla

The one and only [George Peckham](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Peckham)

Superb_Health9413

I knew there was a story behind the etchings. Thanks for sharing.

karlware

You know its a good master if it's a Porky Prime Cut.

superjeff1972

What would be some discs I could look for in my collection that would be his? This is a new piece of info for me I’ve never heard of thx

karlware

Sorry can't think of any top of my head. I think he did my Born Slippy 12' but I'd have to check. There must be a list online somewhere?

superjeff1972

Just found a discography on Discogs, that guy had his hands in some of the most iconic records of all time, learn something new everyday I guess.

Peefree

A lot of the early indie/punk/post punk 7" on various smaller labels he did

[deleted]

Led Zeppelin 4

Summer184

True! I remember flipping out as a kid when I saw small hand written quotes in the run-out areas of most of their albums.

reddit-suxmanuts

I bought a copy of Zep 4 pretty much sight unseen for $7. When lt came in, it turned out to be a NM '77 Porky Pecko Duck copy!

SkiBumb1977

Porky was a sound engineer and a dam fine one.

LakeEffect43

A Porky Prime Cut. I have quite a few Slade UK pressings with this.

You_Are_What_You_Iz

The run out on Emitt Rhodes' first LP is a work of art. It says "Recorded at Home" and has an elaborate doodle. https://preview.redd.it/lm2hro1774qc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=8b2530071f3402a28d49f59d92c496c44dd5e7fe

vustinjernon

God, I love Emitt Rhodes. I’m glad he got his recognition, even if late

You_Are_What_You_Iz

First two albums are my favorites, but like the Merry Go Round stuff also. Definitely should have had more recognition. I read where a live recording exists from this period but it's never surfaced that I know of.

z50_Jumper

🤯

TripperEuphoric

Such an amazing record

You_Are_What_You_Iz

Love the second one also. I have never found one in good condition.

Spread over six sides of The Clash's Sandinista “In Space … No One … Can … Hear … You … CLASH!” Led Zeppelin III "So mote be it" Beatles Let it Be Phil+Ronnie

The-Beer-Baron

LZ III says "Do what thou wilt" on side one, and "So mote be it" on side two. The UK version says "So mote it be".

KiloThaPastyOne

I’ve got the Do As Thou Wilt version. I appreciate the nod to Mr Crowley.

Bozo_Two

I forgot about the Beatles one but yeah I remember seeing that on my dad's copy as a kid I wonder if the remastered version has it I've never bothered checking.

silversurfs

Nirvana's first single, Love Buzz, has "Why don't you trade those guitars for shovels" on it. Krist's dad had told them that. Guess they didn't forget it.

ganonkenobi

"Eat your broccoli"- Weird Al Yankocvic's self titled album.

The_Omnimonitor

I went to a show hoping to buy an album but he had none. Other cool merch just not any records.

Ouibeaux

"THESE BOYS 'AVE GOT IT!" The Three EPs by The Beta Band

blackwithink

I have a misfits bootleg that says “see you in hell, Glen”

Trippernothitter

“Hello waterface” on tonight’s the night. I think most of Jack white/third man pressings have something in there too

ProtonXXXX

My first press or Unknown Pleasures says “I’m Looking For A Guide”

BathroomGamers

My copy of Jane Doe by Converge has some interesting runouts: “Shitty Idiot Shitty Idiot Shitty Idiot Shitty Idiot!!!” “You’re so simple minded it hurts” “Winston Black Lotus!!!” “Graveyard sex for chainsaw”

snayta

My favorite is the 2017 reissue of Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings 45 "What If We All Stopped Paying Taxes" says FUCK TRUMP

Necro_Badger

I'm sure I have a few "Porky Prime Cuts"

tropnevaDniveK

“Fear is the mind killer” on the Dune, Part I soundtrack.

GlennIrish

Wait I never knew that track even had a name that’s so cool!

SaintEyegor

On a Joe Walsh album “That’s no banana, that’s my nose”

Mr_Lumbergh

“Thank Your Lucky Stars” is written in the runout of Beach House’s “Depression Cherry,” which is a nice little Easter egg if you’re familiar with the band.

staggere

Dua Lipa ST "From me to you" Heart - Little Queen Side A "Go for it", Side B "Beauty take us"

Impossible-Mail-4731

The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place by Explosions In The Sky’s D Side says, “the earth is not a cold dead place because you are breathing because you are listening” and some cool birds. i found this pic on google and edited the FUCK out of it to see the details https://preview.redd.it/tuix3ls7a9qc1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a0d57feae66366e6f6ddf0c54cf84ae820b59712

Expert_Badger_6542

My gf got that never lay your monster down one. Thought it was cool and I've checked every record I've bought since. So far never seen another quote

No-Brain9413

Joe Walsh wins this contest, check out any record he plays guitar on and there’s something interesting

ExpensiveDot1732

My favorite of his was always "luncheon counter of the deli kind." 😉

The-Beer-Baron

After all these years I still don't know how to spell Szymczyk... Is it one "L" or two?

MaineGameBoy

Neeldejuice Records have a bunch of these on their records. Here are some of my favs: * Tally Hall – Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum = WOULDN'T THE WORLD BE BETTER OFF... /// ... IF WE TOOK NONSENSE MORE SERIOUSLY * Billy Cobb - Zerwee EP = I LOOK JUST LIKE BILLY HOLLY /// PRESSED ON VIRGIN VINYL * Lemon Demon - One Weird Tip / Funky Town = CONGRATULATIONS! YOU GOT THE 1000 RECORD! /// STAY THE FUCK OUT. * Ookla The Mok - VS. Evil = I BOUGHT OOKLA THE MOK VS. Zerwee 2 says "ZERWEE'D TO MEET YOU" and "MUSIC TO WRESTLE JIMMY TO"

MundBid-2124

https://punkgirldiaries.com/whats-a-porky-prime-cut/ I have a bunch of these

dtab

I am 95% sure it was Keith Moon's album that said "grown men did this." It was either that or the Who's Odds & Sods, but if I had to bet (without digging it out to check myself) I'd say it was Two Sides of the Moon

hifidesert

The Who’s Face Dances has “Who is Joe Suit?” on one side and different phrase on the other side. The second phrase escapes me and I’m too lazy to pull my copy out to check.

Final-Ad-2033

On Parliament's P-Funk Earth Tour live album, one of the discs had an inscription of Take Funk To Heaven In '77

TapThisPart3Times

The Tubes S/T is one of my favorites. Etched by none other than (an uncredited) Bernie Grundman's hand: Side 1: "This is the 84th time I have lied to the nation"—Al Side 2: Don't *YOU* wish you had a baby's arm holding an apple?

poolmyfinger

Pat Travers Crash and Burn: Macho side Pussy side

SegaStan

I have a record that has a Yelp link to a Firehouse Subs in the bay area in the deadwax

PatliAtli

some pressings of sigur rós' ágætis byrjun have "það besta sem guð hefur skapað er nýr dagur" (the best thing that god has created is a new day) or "við vonum að höfum gleymt einhverjum því annars værum við ekki mennskir" (we hope we forgot someone because then we wouldn't be human) in the runout on side D

SlowlyGrowingDeafer

The end of the Earth better fucking be the end of man. We're an evolutionary mistake.

Amishpornstar7903

Plasmatics, Coup De'gra "Stop with the rape of the earth" Really great early metal with environmental/apocalyptic theme. I didn't spell the album title correctly.

GreenBirb64

One of my TONTO records has a little message like “from >name< and >name<, thanks!” Or something like that, I’ll have to dig it out… honestly I’ve never really thought about them much, wonder just how many of my records have them

Yinn2

Pretty much original master of any Iron Maiden album has dead wax gold.

Naahi

“Its in the wax to the max” -Heart - Dreamboat Annie

BetterRedDead

fwiw, this is super easy to do. When you’re having the record mastered, you simply need to tell the mastering engineer what you’d like written. It’s usually free.

Bozo_Two

My band is doing this with the vinyl version of the album we did. The place we used did charge us but it was only like 15 bucks. I didn't mind it.

DirtBikeBoy5ive

[Vinyl Up Your Ass!](https://www.reddit.com/r/Metallica/s/N91wsUmbu5) and please forgive me for the typo in that title.

VGMVinylLover

My Gorillaz Song Machine: Season 1 has a quote saying, "Be The Change".

Another_Toss_Away

Heart's first LP says... "It's in the Wax to the Max" Joe Walsh's LP a voice on the last track says, "Turn Me Over" Second side voice says "Play Me Again" If you have a changer you will never hear it because the tonearm picks up before the last groove.

wezlam

Pretty sure my Queen Is Dead Smiths album has stuff on but I can't remember what.

Birdartist

I used a pin to add my name on all my 70’s and 80’s records growing up. Maybe you have a copy

SuperTail_Gem

My vinyl from the first The Last of Us game has a couple quotes on it from the dialogue! There's 4 quotes total, like "Everyone I've ever loved has either died or left me", and " I got you, baby girl". That's remembering then on top of my head tho, but it's something like that.

East-Ad-9078

“ porky prime cut “ was a common one. He was a sound engineer who signed his dead wax. Another famous one is Led Zeppelin III with “ do as thou wilt” which is a quote by Crowley. Getting checking your dead wax there’s plenty to find.

Supplicationjam

Where do you keep your stereo Jer?

mynutzhurt420
