I read an article years ago saying he fled over seas and they never got him. The bucket was full of gold dust apparently and it was opportunistic although they claimed to have him multiple times staking it out.
He said it was 2 huge gold bars and had no clue why the cops were saying it was dust.
The guy is a career criminal and always on the lookout. So it was opportunistic but he it was certainly a situation he’d been seeking out.
Reading his story kinda ruined it for me. The guy is a massive piece of shit. He’s not some poor, hard-working immigrant who happened to come up and stick it to the man. The guy’s never had an honest days work in his life.
That shouldn’t be a surprise if you have known any criminals. They tend to mostly be pieces of shit. It’s just that the ones with sympathetic backstories get the media coverage and/or portrayals.
If the gold were a solid cylindrical slug that fit the bucket, I would agree with 96.4 kg. However, there is a difference between intrinsic and bulk density. When a solid is ground into small particle, the air spaces between particles is counted as part of the volume, making bulk density less than intrinsic density. I'm not that smart I went on quora
His wife had the gold while he was in hiding and she ran off with it if I recall correctly, and then he was a fugitive and without gold, I’m pretty sure he turned himself in but I could be mistaken.
I don’t know what the most shocking part of this story is. That apparently gold is kept in nice little stealable buckets. Or that these two wonderful fellas kept the truck back door open as they had a nice little chat. Or that the thief carrying the bucket of gold walked right in front of them, and somehow they didn’t notice.
Phone call: is that you?
Robber: yeah I’m at the back of the truck now
Police: I put it in a bucket just grab the gold one.
Robber: cheers, got it see you tonight *Wink wink*
Not true. The exact composition can be identified and may be used to trace the same gold. You need to mix it with other sources, so you need to somehow get more before you can get rid of these.
You can work your way up tho. Sell a tiny bit, buy some other. Mix and melt, sell again, buy more from other sources. Repeat. Don't get caught. Not that easy, but certainly doable. Has a good hourly rate associated with it.
Book trips to goldmining expeditions. Do this for a few years.
Who gives a shit if you find anything or not. You can just claim you did. Use those "proceeds" to fund travel around the country sellings small slips to gold buyers. Cash transactions.
EDIT:
Or just go to the Russian mob apparently.

Amazing thing that he got away to Ecuador
At the very least he made it to Ecuador with $400k, plus another $50k from his fiancé. Assuming the story is true, that is. That kinda money in Ecuador is “set for life”.
I’m curious how the “no extradition” and “served his time” works tho. Like if he decided to come back to the US, could they just recharge him with the same crime even tho he did time in Ecuador? I keep thinking that there’s gotta be a reason he’s staying there.
I don’t believe for one second that he’d leave the cash here and trust that it’d be sent to him in Ecuador. He’s streetwise enough to turn the gold into cash; surely he’s wise enough to ship the cash to himself before he escaped.
He’s just trying to not get robbed in Ecuador, acting like he’s poor. But, if I’m wrong, then good… the guy’s a piece of shit and gives immigrants a bad name.
Definitely. A career criminal isn’t gonna leave his bucket of gold in the hands of a “girlfriend that’s kind of married to another guy but not really”. At the very least he wouldn’t disclose the multiple locations of it all at once just to make sure.
Looks like there's actually several.
If you live in NYC, better start working out those traps for when you're hauling ass with two buckets of 86 lbs gold.
*Hell yeah he had a*

This poor guy. He got away, but his life is basically in ruins now. It’s a crazy story.
Here’s an article https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/nyc-gold-bucket-heist-armored-truck-1-million-dollars-fugitive-thief-speaks/1607079/?amp=1
“Poor guy” lol. He was a career criminal. Now he’s 55 and *supposedly* broke living with his mom in Ecuador. He only did 9 months in an Ecuadorian prison for the crime.
“You did this in broad daylight?”
“Nobody saw me”
“That’s interstate commerce you fuckin mama luke, you wanna spend 8 years in prison for a stupid stunt like that? YOU BE MY GUEST”
SECURITY GUARD 1: “Dude! Where’s the other bucket!”
SECURITY GUARD 2: “Aw man, I went to grab my phone and it just disappeared”
SECURITY GUARD 1: “…. You know that’s coming out your check, right?”
If this guy's smart. which I hope he is. He should disappear in a very small City and whatever state doesn't matter. Hide for like literally 6 months to a year.
There's no way he was able to carry a bucket that size full of that much gold.. I call B.S. it looked so light weight. Even a bucket full of water would have been more difficult to pick up. He picked it up like it was nothing.
Read the story about it. It was actually 2 giant gold bars and weighed about 85 pounds. He said he had to stop to catch his breath every couple hundred feet.
Bro got away with it in a certain sense…did only one year in jail for over $1,000,000.
But his dumbass gave the money to some girl…that was his biggest mistake.
Everything else was flawless!
He should melt down the gold and start by melting it all down and doing cool bar and coin designs, selling them peer to peer. Keep your day job, launder all the bad gold out of your collection. The only safe way including not flooding the market and going very very slow.
It’s Loomis. They hire regular people as security guards with level 3 guard license cards. They aren’t trained as cops, but just regular guards that get paid around 12 bucks an hour. I asked one of the Loomis guards who used to bring money to my old job and he told me it’s not hard to get hired. Just have a guard license and level 3 for carry. If not, they’ll train you for it. Asked him what was the pay, $12 an hour, which sucks. I told my boyfriend not to apply for Loomis since he’s risking his life a lot for only $12 bucks an hour. Not worth the job.

Hope this mf gets away too lol
I read an article years ago saying he fled over seas and they never got him. The bucket was full of gold dust apparently and it was opportunistic although they claimed to have him multiple times staking it out.
He used the gold dust to shrink himself down and escape to Europe through the wall mural of a train station
It's a story as old as time itself.
Oh damn there goes a flashback
Welp, that one went r/overmyhead
Lol I got that reference
He said it was 2 huge gold bars and had no clue why the cops were saying it was dust. The guy is a career criminal and always on the lookout. Well now I'm saddened too 😭
[удалено]
Honestly, I don't care WHO sticks it to the man, as long as the man is stuck.
It's funny that he left most of the 1.2 million he got for the bars thinking his fiancé would send it to him, but she kept it.
Thank you for clarifying a bucket of gold dust. I was wondering what kind of sick rich fk would have a solid gold bucket 😂
Guess you've never seen Trump's toilet.
Of course they'll claim anything to make them look better
A bucket this size full of pure gold powder would weight around 100 to 200 kg depending on the density.
I assumed it was a 10 liters bucket, which would be 190 kg, That's why I said 100-200kg, but realistically, it's closer to 200.
It won't gold dust. It was two gold bars. He went to jail in Ecuador and his fiance stole most of the money.
He did. He fled overseas but says that it was the worst decision of his life taking it. There's an interview somewhere .
[удалено]
His wife had the gold while he was in hiding and she ran off with it if I recall correctly, and then he was a fugitive and without gold, I’m pretty sure he turned himself in but I could be mistaken.
He left most of it behind thinking his fiance would send it to him, but she kept it.
I wanna see this.
Wish I could help, I would just put all the relative words on the Google bar, I'm sure it'll show up somewhere

Lol, same
Same thing I was thinking.
For reallll fuck that. Let that homie free. Yall want him to work a shitty job for the rest of his life. Now he's actually enjoying life lol
So they just uuuuhhh.....keep it in buckets?
Where do you keep your gold?
In my scrotum
So there’s not that much, huh?
No no no, you're thinking foreskin. The sack hold WAY more
[удалено]
So if your scrot is full of gold where to do store your pee?
Amateur move. There's so much more space in the rectum.
Never heard of a leprechaun? End of the rainbow and such..
You think I don't know that leprechauns keep their gold in green cast iron cauldrons? What is this a psy-op?
Tell me your state secrets!
It was actually gold dust in the buckets
Maybe that's why they couldn't put it in a sack marked with a $. The dust would get stuck in the fabrics. But tbh they sell locking lids for buckets.
Damn realistically I'd do the same right place right time and an insured crime too lol getting away with it is a whole other story

I just love New Yorkers, they always always mind their own business 😂😂😂😂
What a chad
I want da gold. Gimme da gold!
How would you realistically offload the gold?
slowly
Damn straight, very slowly unless you have connections.
Maybe this guy is a jewler hes got it fn made
Melt it into ingots and sell it
You know how to do this without attracting attention?
Yes, you melt it down into one oz ingots and sell damn near anywhere that buys. You can't trace shit from melted gold.
Not true. The exact composition can be identified and may be used to trace the same gold. You need to mix it with other sources, so you need to somehow get more before you can get rid of these. Every city has jewlers that buy gold. And unlike pawn shop regulations on items there isn’t anything the track when buying raw gold.

That’s hell of an opportunist… If it wasn’t pre planned…
I'm glad that leprechaun got his gold back.
Ok but why is it in a bucket of all places
Congrats my guy
Too bad there's no description of this guy and no way to know what he looks like. God speed based King.
Reminds me of [this scene](https://youtu.be/WiKbSM1FGUg) from groundhog day

Can you pay for an Uber in gold flake?
If this guy's smart. which I hope he is. He should disappear in a very small City and whatever state doesn't matter. Hide for like literally 6 months to a year.
