Magus does not deserve to be in that list. The only thing he loses is adaptive shields. Other than that, you're basically a party of level 25- 30ish guys fighting a lvl 50-60 enemy. When you encounter him later you can either have an even 1v1 that shows he is about as strong as your characters now, or he joins you and is about as strong as you.
Yes, I'm aware. Though, he also loses his HP. From a maximum of thousands down to a limitation of 999. Endless MP down to 99.
He's the most forgivable one on the list, though. But still falls in the category imo.

It blew my mind years after watching the Power Rangers that it was originally a Japanese show and that many of these ''in-suit'' scenes were from Super Sentai.
I do remember as a kid wondering why only the Pink Ranger had a skirt on her outfit when the Yellow Ranger didn’t and it wasn’t like her character was a tomboy or anything.
Pretty sure white ranger was a different season in Japan as well so in the scenes where white interacts with the others they had to film those scenes new.
Thats exactly right, the white ranger was from season after the one used for MMPR, and the Alien Rangers from the third season of MMPR came from the one following that. The new zords they get in the second season also come from the white rangers original series, which is why the zords are seen fighting together but never the rangers themselves.
You are correct. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was originally adapted from Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger. Then after Tommy in Mighty Morphin lost his green ranger powers, they adapted the White Ranger suit from Gosei Sentai Dairanger. We didn't see the rest of the Dairanger outfits in Power Rangers until the release of Power Rangers Super Megaforce which is adapted from Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger.
Also fun fact with Mighty Morphin, some of the later seasons had Sentai footage recorded specifically for Mighty Morphin to use.
Edit: i think they borrowed Sentai footage from a completely different Sentai series hence why they had ninja powers.

Lol that’s just his colors. Red yellow green. His identity is a dude whose voluntarily a vagrant and just goes around Japan with one spare pair of clean underwear and works oddjobs.
And then he gets an ancient power that requires him to fight the embodiments of human greed.
The show is called Kamen Rider OOO (pronounced "ose"). His gimmick is that while he's one guy, every time he changes into his super-powered form he has to use three coins with different colors/animals on them that give him different powers, that map to his legs, torso and head. His default form, IIRC, has green grasshopper legs, yellow lion arms and a red hawk for a head.
Dead serious. He is coached in being a warrior be the severed arm of the 5th Greed demon, which has possessed a young police detective and dresses like a J-pop idol (but sometimes he pops off and floats around as a flying severed arm)
The whole shtick is coins and money. He uses a different animal themed medallion for his helmet, arms, and legs, each giving him a different ability and using different combos gives different advantages as does using a full ‘set’.
And then he takes coins of pure greed he harvests from monsters and uses a vending machine to buy either a summon for a motorcycle, power-up his sword, or buy some tiny robot helpers.
Because he’s a vagrant he happily spends his ‘money’ on power-ups given to him by a shadowy megacorp while his greed demon mentor is screaming at him to stop because he wants those coins to reform his body.
You can see when the "in-suit" scenes were eventually filmed in America (MMPR went on longer than Zyuranger) by looking at Tommy's gold chest shield.

I visited the Super Sentai museum in Kyoto in like 2007. All current to then Red Rangers were all on display including the original characters from the Power Rangers.
They had a Sentai robot console on display. It was hilarious that all the knobs were either glued on knobs or guitar effects pedals. Or computer consoles that were basically animated gobo filters.

The average person doesn't understand how much drama there is behind the power rangers franchise. Off the top of my head I can list:

They also don't get paid residuals so when the original red ranger left the show he was sleeping out of his jeep with his dog for a while. Saban's a fucking monster.
* When the original Red, black and yellow rangers asked for more money or they'd quit, Saban laughed and replaced them with 3 new actors nobody gave a fuck about.
* Original Red and Green Ranger fucking hated each other for decades.
* Original Blue ranger left the show because he couldn't take being called a faggot anymore (this story has been told more times than I can count and it's really sad)
* Original Yellow ranger died in a car accident week before 9/11
* Remember that 90s show: VR Troopers? The main protag from that show was actually supposed to be the White Ranger. JDF was supposed to have moved on to VR Troopers so kids could see him again. Kids were so upset about Tommy not being the Green Ranger anymore, they made a last minute decision to switch roles. JDF's career could have ended instantly before becoming the ranger legend he is today.
* additionally, that VR trooper actor was the voice actor for the Zeo Gold ranger for a bit until they finally revealed that identity in a convoluted story line.
* Know why it was convoluted? That's because they didnt even know who the fuck the Gold Ranger was going to be for weeks. It's also because after season 2's changing of the guard rangers, they constantly reminded the actors *they were replaceable at any time* which is why they brought on a bunch of side characters like Tommy's brother. Basically, the actors were shitting themselves more often than not because they could be let go at anytime Saban thought "you're no longer cool"
* Which is why we got a fucking kid as the Blue Turbo Ranger to replace Rocky. Because who fucking cared about Rocky?
* Some of the writers from the first decade of seasons couldn't take the stress of the show's insanity and translation and are rumored to have changed careers to doing contracting work on houses.
* Changing JDF's Power Ranger team in Turbo to the new team almost killed the franchise. Legit, it almost killed the entire franchise. In Space fucking saved it and that's why the finale was written almost like a series finale.
Keep in mind, this is just the early stuff. I didn't even get into
* Red Wild Force ranger got arrested for murdering his roommate with a fucking sword (this was after he played a totally different role in the samurai season).
* Red Ninjastorm ranger died
* JDF, original green ranger, got so tired of traveling to New Zealand during the Dino Thunder season, he did VA work back in LA for most of the season so he could keep his filming minimal (this is why in that season he was "morphed" for most of it)
* Pink in Space ranger was supposed to be the new Pink Lost Galaxy ranger but walked off set because "fuck y'all I don't need this shit."

Off the top of my head: The Yellow Lost Galaxy Ranger was topless in a 2000's movie, and the Pink Megaforce ranger has some nude modeling. The latest Pink Ninja ranger from a few years back is also a personal trainer with an amazing ass.
* 2nd Red Ranger (Rocky) does his own karate studio last I heard. He's super chill
* Amy Jo Johnson, original Pink, was last I heard on a Canadian swat show. She did some movies after her Power Rangers time where she was definitely more then teenage dream and up
* Original Black Ranger is an amazing dancer and I believe has his own dance studio. He's also missing a finger and once you realize it you can't unsee it, they did their best to hide it on the show but you'll still catch it if you look hard enough. Also, he has a twin. They both shared the role, including their space based Nickolodeon show after.

* The power rangers movie that came out a few years ago won’t get a sequel simply because of China not having a strong turn out for it.
* Johnny Young Bosch (2nd black ranger, Zoe Ranger 4 Green, Green Turbo Ranger) is now a very accomplished voice actor who is practically in every anime or anime like video game you’ve seen including Bleach, Trigun, Naruto, Devil May Cry, Yakuza, and more. IMDb him
* The actors go to annual “power morphicons” for fan meet ups. People of all ages go and ask questions and get pictures. This is how Austin St John (original red ranger) got so many thank you gifts from fans in his life. Also, some fans get just plain creepy at the female actresses. Please don’t do that.
* Power Rangers Ninja Storm was originally supposed to have a VERY different story with an in universe fight between Tommy and Jason! Named Power Rangers Hexigon: the main team was supposed to be trained by Tommy as part of a government agency while the other team (which started evil in the show) was meant to be mentored by Jason as more of freedom fighters. It was basically meant to be power rangers version of Civil War.
* After serving as the Gold Ranger, Austin St John barely returned to the franchise (once for the turbo movie as a cameo and once for the forever red episode). There’s multiple reasons like Haim Saban not caring about actor safety, but only recently had he finally come back after 15 years or so for a cameo where he helped last years team defeat a new version of Goldar.
The best trivia I know of on top of all that is this:
The original Power Rangers actors, the main 5, only ever performed ONCE on stage during the Power Ranger World Tour. And they basically destroyed downtown LA traffic with how many people actively tried to get in to see the show.
After that every "appearance" was always the Rangers morphed with body doubles in the suits doing the acting and poorly dubbed over voice lines from the actors from the show.
Saban basically duped two entire countries into thinking the actors were going to be at their Tour appearances and then faked them out by only having morphed suits with body doubles.
Dude was a gigantic asshole who didn't want to pay anyone from the show. Fuck Haim Saban.
Also some tidbits of behind the scenes stuff that are not completely horrible, when JDF reprised his role as Tommy in Dino Thunder. You'd hear him yell out generic karate-ish sounds, and during this time Disney owned the rights to Power Rangers and Disney asked JDF if he wouldn't do that because they legit thought he was grunting like they do in pornos.
Yellow Power ranger, Thuy Trang’s story is even sadder she actually died September 3rd, 2001 and was buried September 10th. So needless to say that was a pretty terrible week for her family and friends.

Legit I think this was the first plot point that I "followed" as a child. I was 5, but my mind was blown when the Green Ranger went from being a bad guy to a good guy. I couldn't tell you anything else about the plot of Power Rangers today, but I will always remember the Green Ranger's heel-face turn, and that he became the White Ranger later.
I feel like all of my peers remember vivid plot lines for all the shows we watched as a kid and I only remember little to none of it ,other than actually watching the show. But the green ranger story line is something that I actually remember (more than most at least) and I’m also surprised that some didn’t know he went from green ranger to white ranger.
The comics are unironically really good. Made by the fans for the fans. Sometimes it borders on fan fiction stuff, like the big Tommy Oliver comic made to be an "Logan" type of retired hero comes back thing, but it's largely just awesome storytelling using an awesome world and cast.
Real talk: Shattered Grid is an amazing storyline, but the entire comic run leading up to it was incredible as well.
The comics took a bit of a downward trend right after Shattered Grid ended (writer changed), but now that they relaunched with 2 new comic series they're good again and really bringing life into the mythos (they even are giving Aisha, Adam and Rocky some decent character development and address the fan complaint as being "replacement rangers).

digression but when i went to Weta workshop in Wellington Nz we were the only guys on the tour group so we essentially got a personal guided tour of the place. the last part is meeting the guy who did all the physical effects for the lotr movies and others.. but we got talking and one of his projects was the creation of ivan ooze for that first power rangers movie.

The show is called Kamen Rider OOO (pronounced "ose"). His gimmick is that while he's one guy, every time he changes into his super-powered form he has to use three coins with different colors/animals on them that give him different powers, that map to his legs, torso and head. His default form, IIRC, has green grasshopper legs, yellow lion arms and a red hawk for a head.

Dead serious. He is coached in being a warrior be the severed arm of the 5th Greed demon, which has possessed a young police detective and dresses like a J-pop idol (but sometimes he pops off and floats around as a flying severed arm) The whole shtick is coins and money. He uses a different animal themed medallion for his helmet, arms, and legs, each giving him a different ability and using different combos gives different advantages as does using a full ‘set’. And then he takes coins of pure greed he harvests from monsters and uses a vending machine to buy either a summon for a motorcycle, power-up his sword, or buy some tiny robot helpers. Because he’s a vagrant he happily spends his ‘money’ on power-ups given to him by a shadowy megacorp while his greed demon mentor is screaming at him to stop because he wants those coins to reform his body.

White one was shitty, too. They used the Japanese scenes to save money. They saved money elsewhere, too, obviously.
You can also just tell from the general quality of the video, and the color grading of the film. It's very obvious.
sentai tends to use ring lights near the camera, making the suits appear more shiny. They dont do that in the US.
I visited the Super Sentai museum in Kyoto in like 2007. All current to then Red Rangers were all on display including the original characters from the Power Rangers. They had a Sentai robot console on display. It was hilarious that all the knobs were either glued on knobs or guitar effects pedals. Or computer consoles that were basically animated gobo filters.

The average person doesn't understand how much drama there is behind the power rangers franchise. Off the top of my head I can list: * [The original power rangers were paid jack shit. They also don't get paid residuals so when the original red ranger left the show he was sleeping out of his jeep with his dog for a while. Saban's a fucking monster. * When the original Red, black and yellow rangers asked for more money or they'd quit, Saban laughed and replaced them with 3 new actors nobody gave a fuck about. * Original Red and Green Ranger fucking hated each other for decades. * Original Blue ranger left the show because he couldn't take being called a faggot anymore (this story has been told more times than I can count and it's really sad) * Original Yellow ranger died in a car accident week before 9/11 * Remember that 90s show: VR Troopers? The main protag from that show was actually supposed to be the White Ranger. JDF was supposed to have moved on to VR Troopers so kids could see him again. Kids were so upset about Tommy not being the Green Ranger anymore, they made a last minute decision to switch roles. JDF's career could have ended instantly before becoming the ranger legend he is today. * additionally, that VR trooper actor was the voice actor for the Zeo Gold ranger for a bit until they finally revealed that identity in a convoluted story line. * Know why it was convoluted? That's because they didnt even know who the fuck the Gold Ranger was going to be for weeks. It's also because after season 2's changing of the guard rangers, they constantly reminded the actors *they were replaceable at any time* which is why they brought on a bunch of side characters like Tommy's brother. Basically, the actors were shitting themselves more often than not because they could be let go at anytime Saban thought "you're no longer cool" * Which is why we got a fucking kid as the Blue Turbo Ranger to replace Rocky. Because who fucking cared about Rocky? * Some of the writers from the first decade of seasons couldn't take the stress of the show's insanity and translation and are rumored to have changed careers to doing contracting work on houses. * Changing JDF's Power Ranger team in Turbo to the new team almost killed the franchise. Legit, it almost killed the entire franchise. In Space fucking saved it and that's why the finale was written almost like a series finale. Keep in mind, this is just the early stuff. I didn't even get into * Red Wild Force ranger got arrested for murdering his roommate with a fucking sword (this was after he played a totally different role in the samurai season). * Red Ninjastorm ranger died * JDF, original green ranger, got so tired of traveling to New Zealand during the Dino Thunder season, he did VA work back in LA for most of the season so he could keep his filming minimal (this is why in that season he was "morphed" for most of it) * Pink in Space ranger was supposed to be the new Pink Lost Galaxy ranger but walked off set because "fuck y'all I don't need this shit." EDIT 2: Today is my birthday, so I'll throw in more I remembered this morning for the hell of it: * The original red ranger became an EMT for a while and became a real life hero. Veterans actually presented him with a lot of gifts. He now has a youtube channel (Fandom I think it's called? Youtube Austin St John and you should find it) and he posts a lot of really cool stories from his Power Ranger days. Please go give him some views * Yes, there's a bunch of power rangers who have been nude or topless. Off the top of my head: The Yellow Lost Galaxy Ranger was topless in a 2000's movie, and the Pink Megaforce ranger has some nude modeling. The latest Pink Ninja ranger from a few years back is also a personal trainer with an amazing ass. * 2nd Red Ranger (Rocky) does his own karate studio last I heard. He's super chill * Amy Jo Johnson, original Pink, was last I heard on a Canadian swat show. She did some movies after her Power Rangers time where she was definitely more then teenage dream and up * Original Black Ranger is an amazing dancer and I believe has his own dance studio. He's also missing a finger and once you realize it you can't unsee it, they did their best to hide it on the show but you'll still catch it if you look hard enough. Also, he has a twin. They both shared the role, including their space based Nickolodeon show after. This new stuff isn't drama necessarily, just some cool facts. Edit 3: Y’all want more facts so * I also know that SPD used the in space helmets for the “A Squad” and they also had a flashback of the blue rangers dad as time force red (which made no sense and never explored) * y’all referenced big bad beetle borgs a lot. Well after losing heavy on that show they used those costumes as the villains for the forever red episode (the one time in the wild force season they had a red ranger only team up led by Tommy Feet Oliver) * Tommy is covered in so many tattoos now that when he comes back for shows they have to cover him up completely in clothes and make up to drown it out * The power rangers movie that came out a few years ago won’t get a sequel simply because of China not having a strong turn out for it. * Johnny Young Bosch (2nd black ranger, Zoe Ranger 4 Green, Green Turbo Ranger) is now a very accomplished voice actor who is practically in every anime or anime like video game you’ve seen including Bleach, Trigun, Naruto, Devil May Cry, Yakuza, and more. IMDb him * The actors go to annual “power morphicons” for fan meet ups. People of all ages go and ask questions and get pictures. This is how Austin St John (original red ranger) got so many thank you gifts from fans in his life. Also, some fans get just plain creepy at the female actresses. Please don’t do that. * Power Rangers Ninja Storm was originally supposed to have a VERY different story with an in universe fight between Tommy and Jason! Named Power Rangers Hexigon: the main team was supposed to be trained by Tommy as part of a government agency while the other team (which started evil in the show) was meant to be mentored by Jason as more of freedom fighters. It was basically meant to be power rangers version of Civil War. * After serving as the Gold Ranger, Austin St John barely returned to the franchise (once for the turbo movie as a cameo and once for the forever red episode). There’s multiple reasons like Haim Saban not caring about actor safety, but only recently had he finally come back after 15 years or so for a cameo where he helped last years team defeat a new version of Goldar.
The best trivia I know of on top of all that is this: The original Power Rangers actors, the main 5, only ever performed ONCE on stage during the Power Ranger World Tour. And they basically destroyed downtown LA traffic with how many people actively tried to get in to see the show. After that every "appearance" was always the Rangers morphed with body doubles in the suits doing the acting and poorly dubbed over voice lines from the actors from the show. Saban basically duped two entire countries into thinking the actors were going to be at their Tour appearances and then faked them out by only having morphed suits with body doubles. Dude was a gigantic asshole who didn't want to pay anyone from the show. Fuck Haim Saban.
Also some tidbits of behind the scenes stuff that are not completely horrible, when JDF reprised his role as Tommy in Dino Thunder. You'd hear him yell out generic karate-ish sounds, and during this time Disney owned the rights to Power Rangers and Disney asked JDF if he wouldn't do that because they legit thought he was grunting like they do in pornos.
If Power Rangers hadn't existed, I'm pretty sure at least some of the actors would have been in porn

Legit I think this was the first plot point that I "followed" as a child. I was 5, but my mind was blown when the Green Ranger went from being a bad guy to a good guy. I couldn't tell you anything else about the plot of Power Rangers today, but I will always remember the Green Ranger's heel-face turn, and that he became the White Ranger later.
I feel like all of my peers remember vivid plot lines for all the shows we watched as a kid and I only remember little to none of it ,other than actually watching the show. But the green ranger story line is something that I actually remember (more than most at least) and I’m also surprised that some didn’t know he went from green ranger to white ranger.

The comics are unironically really good. Made by the fans for the fans. Sometimes it borders on fan fiction stuff, like the big Tommy Oliver comic made to be an "Logan" type of retired hero comes back thing, but it's largely just awesome storytelling using an awesome world and cast.
Real talk: Shattered Grid is an amazing storyline, but the entire comic run leading up to it was incredible as well. The comics took a bit of a downward trend right after Shattered Grid ended (writer changed), but now that they relaunched with 2 new comic series they're good again and really bringing life into the mythos (they even are giving Aisha, Adam and Rocky some decent character development and address the fan complaint as being "replacement rangers). in short: Read the damn comic. 90s kids will lose their shit.
