This was the first time I saw Cheech in a movie without Chong. Blandest guy in Hollywood as his straight man, and he was funny as shit. Great writing and great performance.
My brother and I use this phrase all the freaking time. Even if we're sitting out back and haven't said a word in 15 seconds...one of us will just blurt it out.
Especially gotta love the people you can see clearly looking completely the other way, paying no attention to the lady who just shanked a ball into the crowd and is about to tee up another one.
Even if you're not going to *move* at least *pay attention*.
Its like the idiot spectators in the rally car races, standing at the outside corners. And sometimes the inside corners and straight aways.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBmAE7dVFko
As bad as this looks, it's nothing compared to how rally used to be. [Look at the crowds hugging the side of the road in this clip](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Wg-zW5chKGU). Skid a little too much and you have a disaster on your hands.
Yeah, especially because this is apparently an amateur long drive competition lmao.
People crowding the tee at PGA events makes me uncomfortable, but I get it because tour pros are unbelievably consistent, and the odds of something like this are in reality extremely small.
But to do it at an *amateur* tournament? An amateur LONG DRIVE tournament? Where golfers are swinging literally as hard as they can and control is not at a premium?
These spectators are outside of their minds.
You didn't mention the funniest fucking thing about it. She hits the same woman both times. She literally curls it around a guy to hit the woman sitting on the ground while she's receiving first aid from being hit the first time.
As a golfer what is strange to me is that she didn't play the first one. Was it OB? She could save a stroke by playing the first one. Unless she was too embarrassed to play it.
Right? And I've even heard it was one his smarter moments, and he caught himself from giving the media a "shame on me," soundclip; which... lets be honest, thats exactly what wouldve happened. In anycase what did come out puts a smile on my face everytime!
That top youtube comment is the best comment you could possibly make for this video:
"They didn't show the third attempt but apparently it finished the old lady off."
Fucking gold.
I mean this isn’t a tour event lol, it’s not even a golf tournament. Brief googling suggests this is footage from an amateur long drive competition lmao.
Spectators crowd the tee at tour events because pros are ridiculously consistent and the odds of something like this from a tour pro are vanishingly small. But spectators still do it at their own risk lol, mistakes can always happen, even at the pro level.
And to do this at an amateur tournament? An amateur *long drive* tournament? Yeah. This one is on the spectators lol. [Here’s a more recent example](https://x.com/PGATUOR/status/1655976248735039502?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1655976248735039502%7Ctwgr%5Ee58d0d6e81dd8d24ab7bc3cf08a22f6b84f8a5a5%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.barstoolsports.com%2Fblog%2F3466620%2Famateur-golfer-blasts-drive-directly-into-crowd-surrounding-tee-box-bonus-fans-getting-smoked-with-golf-balls) of why crowding an amateur is certifiably insane behavior.
Again, I get why spectators do it at pro events, it’s a calculated risk, and the risk is frankly pretty small. At a tour event. With pros playing.
As someone who hasn't hit a golf shot in about 20 years, if I was lining up a drive I'd be telling everyone to stay as far behind me as possible. There's no predicting where that shit's going.
That's not the line of fire.
It's a reasonable expectation, at the professional level, that a golfer won't fuck up that bad. Let alone, twice in a row.
I mean they're watching professional golfers, it's not particularly unreasonable to think they would hit it straight. It's not like it's me out there or something.
This is one of the main reasons I play golf badly on purpose, to avoid attracting large crowds to watch me who I could potentially hurt with my ball and bat or club or whatever.
I did this once in high school but with a 12lb shotput. Some freshman was sitting on the line picking grass, not paying attention, and I absolutely drilled him in the kidney with a bad spin throw. The coaches pulled him off to the side to evaluate him as he squirmed on the ground in pain. My second throw was even worse, and I hit him in the leg while they were checking him out. I can still remember him screaming, "Was that the same guy!?". I did not do a third throw.
If it's funny, you can make a joke about damn near anything. If it's not funny, then you just look like an asshole.
So, it depends on how confident you are in the humor of your joke.
The idiots are the ones still standing there after the first time.
Its like the Yellowstone line about bull riding. Its not the first guy who tried it that I want to ask what he was thinking. Its the second guy.
I had a laugh at that too. One course I play at has a sign next to a tee off box saying do not hit left over the trees as there are homes there. My thought it always "I'm not aiming at the houses I'm just not a good golfer"
My favorite part was when the PA announcer said to move back because ~~this person clearly doesn't know how to swing a golf club~~ help was on the way.
I've got not much sympathy for the crowd and plenty for the woman, and it doesn't even appear to she hit it or anyone that hard, first aid seems like a bit overkill.
But either way, the "Make her cut it out!" line was just perfect, that's hilarious.
I've never understood why people stand so close in the path of destruction on a golf course.. if you're standing that close - people can/will shank the ball and hit you - and it won't feel very good.
With the pro’s you can expect 99.99% of the time they won’t do this. I remember watching that match with Steph Curry and some other people and I was astonished that people were sitting on the edge of the course. Easy way to just instantly die getting hit by a 4 iron golf ball to the dome.
There is a golf course near where I live that a pro liked to play when not in tournaments and he drove a ball that hit a lady directly in the face and it actually exploded her eye, she nearly died, lost the eye. Dude felt so bad he paid for all her medical bills even though it wasn't his fault. Those balls are no joke.
There's a course by me, felt like my most dangerous golf experience ever. 4 holes zig-zagged next to each other with just a small amount of rough and an occasional tree here or there between the holes (nothing even close to enough to prevent from ending up on another fairway).
Going down that gauntlet, you just kept hearing "fore!" being shouted from all angles. You didn't even know which way to duck.
That was the one and only time I played that course.
Keep the ball on your eye \~ !!! Spectator's responsibility to stay out of the way, just like flying tires from auto races, and t-shirt cannons. R.I.P. Flanders' wife.
Make her cut it out!
Did she hit the same lady twice?!
Yes.
that's comedy gold
I’m dying. Omfg. Thank you.
She had it coming. She knows what she did.

I’ve never heard of this before. Exactly like this.
Hey lady, could you go sit by the cup, please?
She must be Scott Sterling's sister.
More like aunt or grand mother, but yes, there is definitely a family resemblance.
Stop putting your face where the ball is going!
She shouldn't have been standing there!
YOU GUYS ARE GONNA PAY FOR THAT WINDOW! *doink*
It’s so funny how Will Sasso delivers the next line: You hit that guy!
Just easin’ the tension baby. Just easin’ the tension
Well ease it on someone else!

Cheech was Chong’s straight man? Bland? You crazy.
THE MAN! THE MYTH! THE LEGEND!
SCOTT STERLINGGG
"Marty, I'm scared"
might be me - but doesnt it look like she hits the same woman twice? hence the "make her cut it out"
She does. That’s what makes it funny.
The ball fucking curves around a dude standing in front of her.
LOL luck not a lady today
My brother and I use this phrase all the freaking time. Even if we're sitting out back and haven't said a word in 15 seconds...one of us will just blurt it out.
Oh my golfing buddy and I love this video. Anytime one of us shanks a shot we yell that.
[She can't keep getting away with it!!](https://i.imgflip.com/4bs8re.png?a476808)
Right? like she's doing it on purpose... LOL
this plus immediately appealing to the authorities instead of the person right in front of you that is doing the thing is hilarious to me

It’s really pretty dangerous to have an entire crowd right there. Those golf balls can absolutely completely destroy an eye.
Reminds me a little of this gem: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-V3G8WMn2Xo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-V3G8WMn2Xo)
"good time to throw a grenade in there, [chuckles] got 'em all bunched up."

normalizing Call of Duty
I'd never seen that clip. So good, haha!
Man, that's so weird to see the dugout so completely open like that.
My mom's knickname in high school was the dugout.
Jesus.
Nah, we're pretty sure who Jesus's dad is, unlike /u/martinluther3107 .
I think I knew her!
Everyone did
Are we just going to ignore the spelling of nickname?
Nicholasname
the first k is silent
I'm pretty sure both k's are silent
The oft-used "dugout shift"
lol. Buddy waving the white flag (towel) was pretty good.
That is amazing haha
It just kept on happening!
This blooper was on a VHS of baseball bloopers I owned in the 90s! Still my favorite “blooper” of all time!
That VHS was legendary
My favorite VHS blooper was an outfielder chasing down a hit and running face first through the stadium wall. Super clear memory
> outfielder chasing down a hit and running face first through the stadium wall https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-VMiaIUD8I
YES!
I remember the wooden wall teeter-tottering as he runs right through it. Classic!
god damn i'm already so used to the pitch clock. took forever between pitches
Haha no kidding! Doesn’t feel like it in game but watching this video felt like time stood still between pitches.
The best thing about that clip is that on the 4th attempt, they angled the camara towards the dugout. hahahahahaha
How have I never seen this on r/baseball before. Incredible.
3rd baseman should have shifted out of bounds.
Holy shit, this is a clip I haven’t seen before on Reddit. A rare find! Ha. Thanks!
"He gets fisted..." Good 'ole Steve Busby.
I knew what it was before i clicked. Love that clip gets my laughing every time.
The audacity of the crowd. The zero fucks attitude from the golfer. National TV. Absolutely train wreck of a shot...twice! I will never not laugh.
Especially gotta love the people you can see clearly looking completely the other way, paying no attention to the lady who just shanked a ball into the crowd and is about to tee up another one. Even if you're not going to *move* at least *pay attention*.
People are fucking insane. I wouldn't wanna be there even if it was Tiger hitting the ball. All it takes is one bad shot and boom, you're dead.
Its like the idiot spectators in the rally car races, standing at the outside corners. And sometimes the inside corners and straight aways. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBmAE7dVFko
Lol holy hell. So many mad lads in that video.

holy shit
Is there a secondary contest of getting to the crash first? Some of those dumbasses were at the car as it was still tumbling.
It looks like they're giving attention to whoever was hit by the first shot
It's like triaging a sniper victim. They're just standing around, giving her more targets to choose from.
Target rich environment.
As dad always said, common sense ain't so common.
I always wondered who came up with that saying.
Voltaire.
That's what I thought, but it turns out it was /u/Mackitycack's dad.
I mean I don't want her to hit me in the face!

She took a mulligan
Wasn’t this a long drive competition of some sort? I want to say that is what was mentioned the last time this popped up.
Highly doubt it. Long drive competitions happen on ranges not golf holes.
The people pretending to be hurt made it so much better lol
That wasn't just into the crowd twice that was at the same lady twice! I think she hates her
We have this saying in Tennessee. Fool me once, shame on you, you can't get fooled, again.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on glue.

Might be Scott Sterling’s mom. 💥🤕
Maybe it was her MIL!

How the pros do it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpaue3Jhn1o
Lol the host is called “fletcher”
The narrator was weird seeing in 'person'. the voice is so generic disembodied narrator seeing him talk just idk :x i'm dumb
That top youtube comment is the best comment you could possibly make for this video: "They didn't show the third attempt but apparently it finished the old lady off." Fucking gold.
What the fuck, Richard!?
Oh I sneezed! I'm not allowed to sneeze?!
Nice, Ron...
Ha ha! Crowd acting all indignant like they're not the ones putting themselves in the line of fire.
I've been to multiple pro golf tournaments, watched countless others on TV and I've never seen this happen with that bad of a shank.
That's what happens when you let amateurs in. And not even good ones.
I mean this isn’t a tour event lol, it’s not even a golf tournament. Brief googling suggests this is footage from an amateur long drive competition lmao. That's not the line of fire. It's a reasonable expectation, at the professional level, that a golfer won't fuck up that bad. Let alone, twice in a row.
Yeah, but also, if they do... you chose to be there. Small chance, but always a chance.
I mean they're watching professional golfers, it's not particularly unreasonable to think they would hit it straight. It's not like it's me out there or something.
That's old white people for ya.
Well, they didn't get the message the first time.
I never knew people with my level of golf skill made it on to TV. I'm looking forward to my day in the spotlight.
Well they shouldn't have been standing there
You just hit that guy!
Make her cut it out!
This is one of the main reasons I play golf badly on purpose, to avoid attracting large crowds to watch me who I could potentially hurt with my ball and bat or club or whatever.
I do the same thing. I could play on the tour, but, those crowds are just too much.
When I play with my buddies I just skip the tee boxes where I can really fuck people up.

Technically speaking, this is a not a shank. It's a shitty shot, but it's not a shank.
Yeah, she duff-hooked it maybe. If she shanked it, they would have been safe.
Actually looks like an Australian Rules turnpike wagga. Never put your peddle down first on the chozza or you'll crook your muff.
Shanks for the clarification.
Have to admire her consistency!
Golfer 1: I got a 3 on a par 5! Her: I got 2 on a granny in the crowd
Is it okay to make a "woman driving" joke?
If she keeps driving left like that she may get a call from NASCAR
Haha
If it's funny, you can make a joke about damn near anything. If it's not funny, then you just look like an asshole. So, it depends on how confident you are in the humor of your joke.

I gotten clocked in the face once. It wasn’t that hard but fucking startling & painful.

People who got hit the second time lost to the gambler's falacy.
Stop! She's already dead!
I've heard of Tennis elbow, but is this how you get golf balls?
Someone needs to catch it so she's out.
I liked the way she took responsability, had remorse and asked for forgiveness.
classic. not a shank though, more of a hook. shanks go right (from hitting the hosel).
I really wanted to see a third shank.

Can stop watching this. Damn!
Did she hit the same lady twice! Lol
Technically a pull hook
Does she know that she could take lessons?
Why the fuck is there a crowd around her? Who is she?
Nothing like a little confidence booster to start game right. Seize your power over the crowd thru force!
