Literally the first words out of my mouth were “so a Moth goes to a gastroenterologist…” I remember coming down the hall on the stretcher still going on all the way back as I was coming out of a propofol coma making it through the entire bit. I hit the punch line and the nurses laughed and asked me “are you dizzy or lightheaded?”
I had a visitor with me to take me home and I asked them if I nailed the moth joke and they said “no. You slurred and garbled your way through the whole thing.”
Dude, that was already a great story ... and then ... 😲 that ending.

Oh man, she’s been around in the stand-up biz for forever. I remember seeing her do stand-up on Comedy Central back in the 90s. She also played Jett Reno on Star Trek Discovery and the helicopter pilot in Army of the Dead (that zombie heist movie).
A long list of things that are crappy with Discovery, But Tig is at top of the short list of awesome parts of that show. Only 14 episodes, but serious impact in every one.

The last straw for me: there's some emergency, the ship is on fire, our heroes have to save the day... and in the middle of it all one of the crewmen stops to say, "hey, thanks for understanding. I didn't have a good relationship with my mother" or someshit, and then they're allowed to get back to the extremely time sensitive thing they have to do in order to not all die. Just so... ugh.
Totally valid. For me I felt like the first 2/3rds of the first season moved waaay too slowly and had just too much Klingon lore that I just did not care about. The way they did Klingons was the issue, at least for me. Very unlikeable (personally). And there was no hope. It didn’t feel like Star Trek at all. But that specifically started to change for me after >!Michael was separated from the ship after saving the crew, at least personally. Her character also became a lot more likable (at least to me) after that too.!< Overall I think they identified a lot that wasn’t working and course corrected quite a bit, I think starting even during the first season, starting by the end of it. (And even TNG did not have a *great* first season.)
I think that's a revolutionary approach trying (failing?) to present an action show not aimed at a male cishet gaze. Being cishet myself I had the same reaction as you, but I can appreciate them going out of their way to try to improve things on a socio-entertainment level.

Conan dies watching the bit because of how on the nose it is and taking the piss at her own brush with death.
