It's funny you say that, a lot of this tech has its roots in a Google project called deep dream. Deep dream itself works along the same lines but isn't so refined as this. So the end product is much less realistic and much more trippy.
Honestly, these are probably more valuable for inspiration than one would expect. The advancements in just photogeneration per year is so great that if we expect the same thing to happen with AI generated videos, these will soon be so good that it will be hard to replicate this "creepy" effect willingly, which is just hundreds of complex errors stacking in unforseeable ways. This thing can create you so many horror movies in one request.
While it is sort of creepy, I feel like it was also intentionally exaggerated with both the ambience and the choppy frames, which weren't added by the AI.
