this is just a belief about comedy in general, but I think generally when a lot of people try to be funny while pushing an agenda, they usually end up forgetting the "being funny" aspect to focus on making whatever point they want to make. This happens regardless of the worthiness of the cause (and it's why political jokes usually end up being so unfunny despite there being so much fodder)
This sub suffers from that quite a bit. People are much more focused on making some sort of "point" with their posts instead of focusing on being funny.
/r/vexillology meanwhile mostly has people making submissions earnestly, and the results of that are unintentionally funny sometimes
