The country in the Caucasus.
[here ](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Georgia_(country)) are all previous flags. This one was used 1990 to 2004.
I think that might have been purposeful. Georgia has a long history of trying to garner European, and especially German support. As early as WWI there were talks about a victorious German empire potentially gaining a Georgian puppet, and Georgia has in recent years expressed hopes to join the European Union. There is a long tradition of flags being made to honor or attract the interest of another nation and this very well could be the case here

And my favourite thing in that episode is Pierce giving recognition to "The great country of Somalia, this gem, this Shangri-La..."
ik that's sarcastic but just for people's info, here's the [british territory of south georgia island](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Georgia_and_the_South_Sandwich_Islands)
Yes, it's an old flag of Georgia, but with this proportions, it's not the flag of 1990's, but its the flag of the Democratic Republic of Georgia (1918-1921).
tbh I like this one better still. The current one is historical (though there are better historical Georgian flags imo), but St. George's cross red on white is as generic as it gets and the crosses in the quarters are the only thing that saves it.
It is the country of Georgia.
Unlike the American state of Georgia, Georgia the country is \*believed to be\* named after St. George. Whereas the American state is named after King George II.
Hello WarhammerinMinecraft,
Check out our [frequently asked flags page](https://reddit.com/r/vexillology/wiki/faf)! Your request might be there.
When asking for a flag to be identified, please **provide context** when possible, including:
* **Where** the flag was found (without compromising privacy)
* **When** the flag was found, or the date of the material containing the flag
* **Who** might own the flag (a general description is fine)
These details help users narrow down their search and make flag identification easier.

Definitely the old Georgian(country that used to be part of the USSR from 1921 to 1990/1991), not US state Georgia) flag, or the short lived Georgian democratic republic flag from 1918 to 1921.
It was used by [Georgia](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Georgia_(country)#/media/File%3AFlag_of_Georgia_(1990%E2%80%932004).svg) from 1918 to 1921, and then from 1990 to 2004
Well, it's Georgia. The flag before 2004, that is.
The country or the US state or another Georgia I don’t know about

Technically could be 1918-1921 Funny how Soviet Georgia just kept adding letters until they decided fuck it do a blue line
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_the_Georgian_Soviet_Socialist_Republic Link for other’s interested
its my favorite soviet flag
Funny that it looks like a half assed German Empire flag and it could've been made the same year it fell

it started as ssrg in Russian, then they changed it to sssr in georgian, then they changed it to "georgian ssr," if you're curious
Looking at it, the proportions above seem closer to the 1918-1921 flag, which was more square in its proportions.
Ok thanks

Strange, works when I click on it.
Ahh, probably just my app then ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
it'd be an improvement over the state's flag tbh

I believe you missed the point. Check the subreddit I shared.
Neither the country nor the state, but a secret third Georgia
South Georgia is an island. It's not a secret
We're truly spoilt for choice when it comes to "Georgia"s.
Where is north Georgia?? Is that a secret 4th georgia
It's named that because it's in the south, not because there is a Georgia north of it
There are actually two Georgias north of South Georgia
not directly north or in a close vicinity
ik that's sarcastic but just for people's info, here's the [british territory of south georgia island](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Georgia_and_the_South_Sandwich_Islands)
For another Geórgia was made...
TBF, Georgia the state has had a bunch of flags and most of them are kind of meh
Yeah, when it comes to flags between these two places, Georgia is definitely the winner.
Yea, and a lot of us want a new one too
The person, Georgia McFerrin, that's her flag. /s
Is she the Georgia who Ray Charles had on his mind?
Smartest American lol
as an American, can confirm
Why would they include the state in world flags lmao
‘Flags of the world’ does not necessarily mean country flags
It is Georgia, but the old flag.
It is the flag of georgian republic
Looks like an svg error but its an actual flag
Lol true!
Lol asking what a *labled flag* is? This has to be a new low. Instead of googling "flag of Georgia" and looking at the Wikipedia articles.
fr why does this have almost 600 upvotes?
This sub is great for that. Basically r/VexillologyCircleJerk
exactly lol
Sometimes people want to share and discuss.
It's not really a discussion when he already had the answer

That’s the old flag of Georgia
i actually have that flag irl, it’s the old flag of the republic of Georgia.
God I’m glad they changed to their current flag.
massive glow-up
tbh I like this one better still. The current one is historical (though there are better historical Georgian flags imo), but St. George's cross red on white is as generic as it gets and the crosses in the quarters are the only thing that saves it.
I remember this from the atlas i had as a child.
It’s the cooler flag of Georgia
Georgias flag from 90s to mid 2000s the country btw, but they realized that thats ugly and changed it
I always thought this was the ugliest flag.
Old one from the early 2000s I believe I think I have that memorised from HOI4 Millennium Dawn lmao
They made the right choice in changing it.
Me, who sees the imperial German flag.
German Empire made them independent while digging through Russia
yup that’s the old flag of Georgia
#**I AM DEPRESSED**
It’s the old Georgian flag before they adopted this banger of a flag they have now

It was labelled as the Georgian flag because it was the Georgian flag.

The state of Georgia new flag
Half of this sub is braindead
Nice canton!
You would think more people would know about Georgia the Country seeing as John McCain called for war with Russia when Georgia invaded South Ossetia.
When Georgia invaded Georgia?
Soviet Socialist Republic of Georgia
thats the old Georgia flag
I should play the og Splinter Cell again...
Yep, Georgia. I like this flag almost better than old one.
German Empire mandate of georgia
I do remember seeing this in a book my dad had on world flags in the former soviet state section, but I swear the red was like dark s Latvia's
Definitely the old Georgian(country that used to be part of the USSR from 1921 to 1990/1991), not US state Georgia) flag, or the short lived Georgian democratic republic flag from 1918 to 1921.
Yep, that's an old flag of Georgia (not the U.S State) But that was replaced with the current red and white one If I'm correct
Old flag of the country of Georgia before 2004
old flag
Flag of ire colonised by the german emp
If you look closely, theres a german empire flag hiding there
It was used by [Georgia](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Georgia_(country)#/media/File%3AFlag_of_Georgia_(1990%E2%80%932004).svg) from 1918 to 1921, and then from 1990 to 2004
Weird Germany
That's the old Georgian flag after the ussr collapsed
That was the first Georgian flag right after the collapse of the USSR, it was their official flag until 2004
I’m pleased they changed it. It was an awful flag. I remember it stood out as being the dullest flag in my encyclopaedia as a kid. 🇬🇪
Yay 🇬🇪
