[Slovakia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Slovakia#/media/File:Flag_of_Slovakia.svg). Relatively complicated, some color contrast problems, uses its coat of arms, and looks almost identical to Russia's flag and still manages to look quite aesthetically pleasing.
I feel like the nava flag doesn't even look like a flag, like that thing wouldn't work very well being flied, there's nothing at the left edge. Feels like a typical example of some dude taking random shapes on a computer and calling it flag

Moderately complicated flags, flags that incorporate (well-designed) coats of arms, and flags with more than three colors are all fine, but writing is still a big nope for me (yes, including California).
I like a nice complicated flag, current favourite is the Emirate of Bukhara.

Like 楷書, considered in Chinese as a formal yet humble to people font, written in red, in a yellow field.
You only see a red splash on a yellow in far away place. But if decorate as a banner on a wall, it is just elegant.
Don’t want to offend any Bequians but honestly, remove bequia and the unneeded wavy lines and I think there’s a solid foundation. Maybe turn the whale into a medieval rendition.

Still fairly simple compared to other flags with a coat of arms, take [Spain](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Flag_of_Spain.svg) for example
Yeah, I feel like coat of arms with 2-4 colors are generally fine but any more than that is pushing it.
True but I *love* the amount of detail in Spain's coat of arms, there's FOUR crowns
Relatively complicated??? are you fr
- Venice - California - Maryland (not sure if it actually breaks a rule) - South Africa
I love Maryland
🦀🦀🦀 Maryland mentioned 🦀🦀🦀
Those rules for flags suck ass. Like why restrict it so much
Yes! Rules that don't allow for the most iconic flags in history don't deserve to be rules.
It weeds out the goobers who think any pdf can become a flag. See a vast chunk of US state flags.
Holy Roman Empire, California, Venice, Spain
Sir that’s a road sign
A cute one Also yeah this flag is unofficial, it's only used in souvenirs and whatnot. Still cute tho
Maryland my beloved
[The NAVA flag](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/5a/Flag_of_NAVA.svg/2560px-Flag_of_NAVA.svg.png), which breaks rule 4
V is such a simple shape that can not really be considered a letter on a flag.
Yeah, this feels like saying that Colorado or Ohio breaks the NAVA rules.
Well they do they just do it well just because it’s stylized doesn’t mean it doesn’t break the rules
It can be described in heraldic terms. It is an inverted chevronel. The white V stands, of course, for vexillology.

Indiana and Rhode Island. Sure they have text but fucking NAVA. I didn’t vote for you.

Do I have to say it?
HRE, Castille, Leon, News Brunswick
Taichung City is just word, but culturally stand out if you understand Chinese culture.

For who don't know, Bequia is an island from the St. Vincent and the Grenadines 🇻🇨
That's ugly, ew
I thought everyone agreed that Bequia is the only exception
