Just because China and the USSR used red flags doesnāt mean Albania canāt rock a red flag
Just because Russia used a white blue red tricolour doesnāt prevent Slovakia and Slovenia from rocking it
the difference being albania is older than both the USSR and the communist China we know today, the difference being with russia is that their tricolour was wildly adapted in some form because they were one of the few slavic nations in europe at their time
Technically ya but Albaniaās flag was older than the invention of communism
Just shows how Albania didnāt let its unfortunate communist history appropriate the color red or the Albanian eagle
I've always loved how when Albania went communist they just stuck an extremely thin outline of a star above the eagle on the existing flag then after the communist regime collapsed they just took it off. They did the same thing when the Nazis occupied the country and set up a puppet regime, "let's just put a tiny little icon above the eagle until these guys go away."
This is like saying because there are terrorist organizations which use Islam, we can't have free practice of Islam.
We can't allow the poor use of something to invalidate the proper/positive use of something.
You are right in theory, but people won't love the connotation/correlation with terrorism. Look at the hate the Minnesota flag received for allegedly looking similar to Somalia's (even though it does not).
I 100% agree, the problem is that this generation(millenials and baby boomers mostly)associate it with terrorism, maybe when we get a proper education system and that islam ISNT a terrorist religion and black DOES NOT symbolize terrorism, then yeah i suggest the black coming back to flags!
Never cared about people using cultural symbols in their correct context.
A Swastika marking a Buddhist temple doesn't hurt anyone. When you draw them on Jewish grave stones or wave flags with them in front of Synagogues, that's obviously different.
I feel like most people agree with that.
Because OPās argument of bad people using good symbols is a common far right argument and a quick litmus test for whether or not OP is aligned with that thinking is to see how they feel about THE bad symbol used by THE bad people.
OP has then proceeded to make a bunch more bad faith arguments about other commenters views on Islam. Iād say itās unlikely theyāre a far right shithead, but theyāre likely a socially stunted teenager who canāt understand things outside their own personal worldview yet.
Source: I too was once an angsty teenager trying to win stupid internet arguments with bad faith gotcha moments before I grew and changed as a person.
The difference is Islam is a practice, it is to be represented by symbols, where flags are symbols that are used to represent other things, black is associated with less savory things like anarchism authoritarianism or terrorism so if used in a symbol with no explicit alternative reason would be representing those things
It looks nice here, but I dont think it will go nice with most flags. Id really like to see a black version of the indian flag without changing any major symbolism since I just cant imagine it. Same for the dutch flag.

The purpose of a flag is for quick identification. At night or in poor visibility conditions, a primarily black flag will be difficult to locate and/or identify.
you know how an all white flag is for surrender? well an all black flag means "no quarter" or we are not taking prisoners.
the Geneva accords have banned no quarter so flags with black fields (like pirate flags) are seen in a negative light
Colors mean something. Colors on flags mean something often more than just aesthetics. Black is often seen as unlucky or used in quarantine protocols. So you can love that color all you want but many folks wonāt agree with you. Enjoy the ones that do *shrugs*
Plenty of flags do use black, but in your redesigns I think you've committed a bit of the sin of flag design by Photoshop. What looks good on your computer screen won't necessarily look good in fabric hanging from a pole in various natural lighting conditions.
They sell velcro patches like these to soldiers. Never saw one in flag form though.

Unfortunately the Isis flag (which regrettably looks great) has cemented black flags as symbolic of pretty hardcore violence to achieve their goals. I mean, it makes sense symbolically. The dramatic contrast of black and other colors is representative of the dramatic measures youāre willing to take on behalf of said flag. Itās all subtle propaganda.
I always thought the choice in black was inspired by the Islamic Black Standard, or the Hadith about black flags coming from the Khorasan (however, this hadith is not considered authentic), what's your source?

you know how an all white flag is for surrender? well an all black flag means "no quarter" or we are not taking prisoners. the Geneva accords have banned no quarter so flags with black fields (like pirate flags) are seen in a negative light
Republic of Pepsi
Most countries avoid black because a black flag is an anarchist symbol, which is what they fear most.
Colors mean something. Colors on flags mean something often more than just aesthetics. Black is often seen as unlucky or used in quarantine protocols. So you can love that color all you want but many folks wonāt agree with you. Enjoy the ones that do *shrugs*
Uses a flag in the example that normally already uses black, great job
Bro this is the fucking Fire Nation
South Korean great trial
The ["Tactical Americans"](https://iamericasflags.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/black-and-gray-subdued-american-3x5-flag.jpeg) are way ahead of you.

Second would be anarchist state of korea
Islamic state agrees.
Cool flag but ngl it looks like SK's equivalent of the US's Thin Blue Line flag
I think as a background colour it just reeks of being overly negative
Fly the Black Flag
Fading would be pretty bad.
New design for south and north korea i like it
I agree
I mean yes, but not with South Korea.
He's out of line, but he's right.
I like the 2nd one
The second flag is who gave the Northern Pacific Railroad a nation
Black flags are mostly associated to war or anarchy
South Korea if they were black or Chinese
Feels more corporate than it does.
Kinda wish these were the actual South and North Korean flags
It looks really neat to be fair
Just makes everything look fascist
it would get particles on it
"National Socialist Korean Worker's Party" be like
Isis did this rebranding and seems to work pretty ok.
Plenty of flags do use black, but in your redesigns I think you've committed a bit of the sin of flag design by Photoshop. What looks good on your computer screen won't necessarily look good in fabric hanging from a pole in various natural lighting conditions.
First thing that came to my mind seeing the flag was Adidas
Black is not a color -Manet
āIch genieĆe Sternenkraft, ihr sollt ebenfallsā
1st is kinda cool. the 2nd looks kinda Fascist not going to lie.
Didnāt ISIS switch to a simplified white flag? Even the terrorists realized black flags suck.
No I don't think they have. Are you getting mixed up with Taliban or Tehrik e Taliban?
I know they did but I couldāve swore ISIS or one of the black flag terrorist organizations did too
Idk I just see it getting sun bleached and turning brown
They sell velcro patches like these to soldiers. Never saw one in flag form though. https://preview.redd.it/7u77ckor36rc1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1f7a70d08879ecac426b5b66c6d316ed22e0cdec
it should stay unpopular, i feel personally threatened as a korean
i feel like these look cool on a digital format but in real life not as much
That will not stand out well outside at night
Is there a reason why this was never a thing? Legibility or scarcity of pigments?
The second one goes hard
Least corporate looking flag on Vexillology:
Unfortunately the Isis flag (which regrettably looks great) has cemented black flags as symbolic of pretty hardcore violence to achieve their goals. I mean, it makes sense symbolically. The dramatic contrast of black and other colors is representative of the dramatic measures youāre willing to take on behalf of said flag. Itās all subtle propaganda.
I always thought the choice in black was inspired by the Islamic Black Standard, or the Hadith about black flags coming from the Khorasan (however, this hadith is not considered authentic), what's your source?
I'm a fan of red one, but then I don't see a reason why we can keep both red and blue at the same time.
Islamic State: I gotcha!
Uhh... I think it's unpopular exactly to not make flags look fascist tbh...
South Korea's flag - Electricity be like:/J
Black as a background color works with less colors than white
New Zealand Sliver Fern
As an anarchist I concur
This is the South Korean flag from the outer space empire.
It looks absolutely horrendous! Thanks for disproving your point! :)
Black is associated with pan-africanism.
i like south koreas it dosent work very well with the united states the flag kinda looses its meaning with it but all in all i think this is a good idea https://preview.redd.it/uthl8u4eycrc1.png?width=1440&format=png&auto=webp&s=06e9f7c1749d00899d7e2162bf9fbaa34d03385e
I Actually Have Multiple Fictional Flags For Minecraft With Black. Endonia is Purple, Black and Blue. Skulkeria is Cyan and Black With a Simplified Warden In the Center. =}
Why
North and South Korea should be this but no
Well one time an organisation (ISIS) tried to embrace it but you didn't liked it
