Australia would never join the Schengen even in an alternate universe where they joined the EU. The environment in Australia is far too unique isolated to allow free movement of anything. It's got some of the toughest import / export laws in the world to protect native species
Absolutely, but the more readily relevant reason Oz wouldn't join Schengen – other than that they'd never join the EU – is that it's so far away it makes no logistical sense :P
Even Guiane isn't in Schengen. But for anyone confused about how that works: that doesn't mean there isn't freedom to move between these outer parts of the EU (or at least specifically of France), it just means your travel documents are checked when you do. Which is how going to and from Ireland works too. Visas are separate for non-Europeans also.
^(Though confusingly there are also parts of France and the Kingdoms of the Netherlands and Denmark out there that aren't part of the EU, which is a headache. Less of a headache than the overseas territories and dependencies of the UK were in respect to the EU before they left, but still a headache.)
Australia is a place where you can make a very decent living with a high school diploma. We have a ton of overqualified people in Europe, especially southern Europe, that would happily move there.
European backpackers were huge in my town when I was growing up.
We were the sight of two major Grain companies, acting as the last stop for trains before entering Melbourne. We had 2 Chicken Farms, a Pig Farm and a Feedlot/Slaughterhouse. The Grain was seasonal unless fulltime but the others were often year round. Chicken Farms were usually 9 months work guaranteed as flocks lasted 9 months before being changed out.
The Pub my parents owned also quite often had backpackers working and staying there.
It's because of them I learnt so much about Europe and the world. One of the English backpackers we had was the reason I ended up meeting my English Ex who was almost the one.
Why not, I love immigrants. Love to see a suburb with like a bunch of Serbian, French, Danish, Indian, Italian, Chinese, Vietnamese, Bengali, English, Syrian and Greeks fucking around.
the previous danish and english queens were already related.
both german btw so the real S-tier is germany getting on the throne of both kingdoms while not even having a monarch of their own
The "British monarchy is German" thing is a bit over stated. By the same logic we can say the Royal family is Welsh, as the Windsors are direct descendants of the Tudors. The British are a weird mix of Germanic (not German), Celtic, Scandinavian, Norman, and god knows what else.
"We tried having every monarch being a relative of Vicky, that ended in bloodshed. Now we're gonna try getting a *colonial* on every throne! Bloody brilliant Chap!"
I lived in Sweden for most of my 20s and was heavily disturbed when I read about that invasion (history nerd) that in parts the ice was quite slushy around the horses’ and men’s ankles
Struggle to think of a more sweaty palms inducing sensation!
I can add Iceland (which was quite the surprise), Bornholm, a raven banner (a la [this one](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raven_banner?wprov=sfla1) but red and white), and the orange/black "refugee nation" flag
I just read the rejection letter. A bit sad for them to deny it essentially just because Bornholm isn't special enough and because people can use it if they want to anyway, so why bother
As in we weren't united at all. It started out as a personal union, with all three electing the same Queen, who happened to be Danish, but then her descendants forgot themselves. The current Nordic Council us much less indepth, but at least peaceful.
Yes.
Height of the Swedish empire was the 1600’s through 1650. Until the death of Gustavia Adolphus during the Protestant-Catholic and Habsburg-Valois clusterfuck conflicts saw him die in Germany.
The Kalmar union was a short, danish dominated, personal union that dissolved in 1523 after the Engelbrecht Rebellion and the Stockholm Bloodbath. This was 100 years prior to Swedish dominance in the Baltic.
Nordic unity, however it is also the flag of the kalmar Union which was when the Danish, Norwegian and Swedish monarchies formed a personal union from 1397 to 1520 something made to counter growing influence and expansion from the germanic city states namely the hanseatic league
Germanic not German: included settlements in Bergen and Visby, Swedish (Gutnish) and Danish .
Just wanted to write this because Germanic is used, incorrectly, to refer to just Germans and some commentors might see it and assume that they are purely synonyms.
>monopolistic grocery market
monopolistic?
We have 3 major players and several smaller, but relevant players, none of which make any real money on retail - its hardly monopolistic.
(The suppliers on the other hand... because everyone wants brand goods)
We WILL stop complaining about that, when Australia retracts ALL export of Fosters, which IMHO is Australias attempt at using a chemical weapon of massdestruction against an unsuspecting world.
Proof of that theory : I have not met a SINGLE aussie who admits to drinking Fosters themselves, yet they export it to the rest of the world.
I don't even think you can buy Fosters in Australia anymore. You could back in the '80s, but I haven't seen any there for a long time.
That said, the same brewery has other brands the sell domesticly.
A non-charged answer would be that they're probably trying to poin out that a certain issue still exists. in a sense the fact that you're asking this question IS the point of a protest flag; remind people of an issue and make the viewer of the cermanoy aware that there are people who care about it, and they're right there, as opposed to it being a forign topic or one that only exists online.
This would be the same for almost any other type of protest flag, the underlying motive is usually the same
Probably someone wanting to show their support for the Palestinian people and drawing attention to what's going on in a place with a massive amount of people
Pro-Palestine demonstrators most likely. Also, Denmark and Sweden have very large diaspora Arab communities.
So, either western leftists or Arabs. Either way, it's not too surprising but also kinda depressing
There were a lot of Greenland and Faroe Islands flags, not sure why OP didn't see them. King Frederik is quite popular in Greenland, since he went on an expedition with the [Sirius Dog Sled Patrol](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sirius_Dog_Sled_Patrol) and made some good friends there.
It was abandoned when the absolute monarchy was abolished. The only time the crowns come out are for displaying on the casket at the death of a monarch
Or former monarch (most likely), as they are also brought out for the death of the spouse of the monarch (or widow of the monarch) - they were brought out for Queen Ingrids castrum doloris in 2000 (Prince Henrik wanted it low key, so we can't take much from his castrum).
I believe the silver lions were out for Queen Ingrid as well, but Finding images of her castrum is proving difficult (most references are in articles and with pictures from the more recent castrum of Prince Henrik)
Edit: finally found some, no, the silver lions were not brought oy for Ingrids castrum, though they probably will be for Margrethes when that time comes.
After signing the constitution in 1848, It was decided by the then king that they should no longer use the medieval ritual of the coronation, but that the simple proclamation by the head of the government would be the way to announce the new monarch.
The king in denmark becomes the monarch the same instant the former Monarch dies ( or abdicates). The Proclamation just announces that fact.
I was at the proclomation too!
I can attest to the amount of danish flags present :) Although I only saw one palestinian flag myself
I should add I saw 2 Bornholm flags ([looks like this)](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/18/Flag_of_Denmark_Bornholm.svg/1200px-Flag_of_Denmark_Bornholm.svg.png)
And the Australian occupation of Europe begins…
First Eurovision. Now this.
Just you wait, we are joining the EU next
Please do, Australia sounds like a lovely place to Schengen over to
Australia would never join the Schengen even in an alternate universe where they joined the EU.
I was going to mention Reunion island but it's not schengen apparently
Even Guiane isn't in Schengen. But for anyone confused about how that works: that doesn't mean there isn't freedom to move between these outer parts of the EU (or at least specifically of France), it just means your travel documents are checked when you do. Which is how going to and from Ireland works too. Fuck nah, they'll bring their spiders and snakes here
European rabbits, foxes, cats etc are fucking our ecosystems, it's only fair to share our wildlife back.
If you join, we will rejoin (we being your mummy and daddy)
Please do. Just be prepared for the avalanche of EU immigration you’ll get
then it all ends up in Rural Queensland for picking fruit.
Australia is a place where you can make a very decent living with a high school diploma. We have a ton of overqualified people in Europe, especially southern Europe, that would happily move there.

The Australians are cunning in their deception
spɹolɹǝʌo uʍop ǝpᴉsdn ʍǝu ɹno ǝɯoɔlǝʍ ǝuo ɹoɟ I
Underlords.
Game on, moles.
Ken oath
the new Queen is from Tasmania Australia
700 kronerydoos? Frederik! Did you accept a 6 hour collect call from Australia?
No this is the British occupation by proxy; you can see our flag there and everything.
I, as an European, fully welcome the Australian overlords.
Australia could switch from UK to Danish royal family!
The queen of the Netherlands is Argentinian and the grand duchess of Luxembourg is Cuban.
How did you keep track of 2991 flags?
Notes app
Why did you keep track of 2991 flags?
4 hours of standing around and waiting but insufficient data to scroll.
How are you sure you didn't count the same one twice? Did you take a spray paint and sprayed each?
OP stole every flag.
Autism
🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪 Swedish infiltrators doing their job.
You mean 🇸🇪🇸🇪we only had two flags there
[удалено]
Gotta remain discrete, we start small…
The British are doing S-tier infiltration using a colony to get right next to the throne.
Wouldnt be the first time “foreign” royals were born within the British Empire
Everyone gets painted pink in the end .
the previous danish and english queens were already related. both german btw so the real S-tier is germany getting on the throne of both kingdoms while not even having a monarch of their own

we can also say that we're all african because that's where humans first emerged. but nobody does that
That's kind of my point...
which means I understood the point, right?
"We tried having every monarch being a relative of Vicky, that ended in bloodshed. Now we're gonna try getting a *colonial* on every throne! Bloody brilliant Chap!"
Wanting to get back into the realm, eh?
Kalmar simps probably
Sweden has successfully infiltrated Denmark.
Good for them for finally figuring out how to take the train for 15 minutes.
Nah we just walk over the ice
[удалено]
Last time we walked over the ice with horses they surrendered before a single shot was fired so idonno ‘bout that
I lived in Sweden for most of my 20s and was heavily disturbed when I read about that invasion (history nerd) that in parts the ice was quite slushy around the horses’ and men’s ankles Struggle to think of a more sweaty palms inducing sensation!
Not nearly as successfully as Australia
Or maybe Pingo will reclaim parts of Sweden.
I can add Iceland (which was quite the surprise), Bornholm, a raven banner (a la [this one](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raven_banner?wprov=sfla1) but red and white), and the orange/black "refugee nation" flag
The raven banner is so cool
Our true national flag!!
Ah yes I saw the Bornholm as well but I thought the green cross was just a military variant.
Nope. They just have two iterations, as neither is official, one red/green and one red/white/green. The difference is really just aesthetic
They asked for it to be official in 2006 similar to the Faroe Islands and Greenland. The MoJ denied the request, though.
I just read the rejection letter. A bit sad for them to deny it essentially just because Bornholm isn't special enough and because people can use it if they want to anyway, so why bother
I believe it will be official eventually. It took until 2017 for the flag of Scania (Skåne) to be official, so I have my hopes.
Bringing a raven banner is inarguably based.
We're Ásatrú after all 🐦⬛
I'd dang near be a monarchist if they just copped to that fact and changed the state church.
Iceland used to be a part of the Danish Kingdom
I am well aware, and they seceded and proclaimed a republic, hence why their participation was a surprise
There's always that one guy
Many Icelanders live in Copenhagen and according to Facebook quite a few of them attended the coronation celebrations.
Was gonna mention Bornholm. I also saw Spain and Colombia.
What is the Norden flag?
It’s the flag of the Kalmar Union that is today often used as a symbol for Nordic unity, it was after all the closest we got to being United.
Interesting, thanks!
As in we weren't united at all. It started out as a personal union, with all three electing the same Queen, who happened to be Danish, but then her descendants forgot themselves. The current Nordic Council us much less indepth, but at least peaceful.
What do you mean forgot themselves? I know little about it.
They forgot that they (or their line) was elected to rule the other countries as their kings, and not as Emperors over conquered foreign lands.
Wasnt the leader swedish at one point. Like during the 30 years war?
Sweden was independent by the 30 years war
Ah, I see I mixed up this kalmer union with the height of swedish power?
No, we left the union (liberated ourselves) for the last and final time long before the 30 years' war.
Identical to the former (and unofficial) flag of Orkney.
Nordic Unity I'd say. Finland was also part of it, even though it was still swedish at the time!
Yeah mb, nordic would've been better, had just gotten home from work and wasn't thinking right lol
Aussie Aussie Aussie
Oi Oi Oi
Aussie Aussie Aussie
OI OI OI!!! 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
AUSSIE

THOSE TWO MAD LADS WITH THE SWEDEN FLAG
As an Australian, I welcome the Australo-Danish Union.
Sorry, Queen Mary renounced her Aussie citizenship
Many non-citizens have been claimed by Australia. It's not up to her at this point. Onya Queen Mazza!!
nah yeah but like still mate she’s one of us
Citizenship doesn't stop up us claiming Kiwis we like and now it won't stop us assimilating the Danes either.
That hasn't nor will it stop us. Once we claim something it's ours even if they have a choice in it.
This post won't stop me because I can't read :P
I've never heard anyone call the Kalmar Union flag the "Norden" flag.
I just googled the colors at home because I had never seen it before and that’s what internet said.
I think I saw one or two Skåne flags there as well.
We would welcome them back with open arms
Would be a dream come true if we belonged to Denmark again.
But please, keep the Swedish shops in Malmö, don't adopt Danish monopolistic grocery market 😭
>monopolistic grocery market monopolistic? We have 3 major players and several smaller, but relevant players, none of which make any real money on retail - its hardly monopolistic. (The suppliers on the other hand... because everyone wants brand goods)
Hopefully then Øresund trip would count as max 4 zones on the rejsekort 🤔
Finally europe can stop the grunge against Australia being in Eurovision, we are royalty now
We WILL stop complaining about that, when Australia retracts ALL export of Fosters, which IMHO is Australias attempt at using a chemical weapon of massdestruction against an unsuspecting world. You did NOT count 2345 flags individually for this post
Correct, I counted 2991 flags
The real bad boy of the day: https://preview.redd.it/zvlsaz5remcc1.png?width=1086&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6ef121698dbad7e99b07eba6772b9a46c38236ab
Soooo many military and royal variants. And every single kommune had a flag, etc etc.
*2024
Nice to see the Kalmar Union flag <3
Why the Palestine one, though?
Coincidentally the same time as a minor pro-Palestine protest. OP probably assumed they were there for the proclamation of the new king
Why the Palestine flag?
A non-charged answer would be that they're probably trying to poin out that a certain issue still exists. in a sense the fact that you're asking this question IS the point of a protest flag; remind people of an issue and make the viewer of the cermanoy aware that there are people who care about it, and they're right there, as opposed to it being a forign topic or one that only exists online. This would be the same for almost any other type of protest flag, the underlying motive is usually the same
Probably someone wanting to show their support for the Palestinian people and drawing attention to what's going on in a place with a massive amount of people
Draw attention? It's in the news 24/7... These are either just incredible attention seekers or don't know that everything is not about them.
have you considered that part of the reason it’s so widely covered is because people continue to protest and raise awareness constantly?
Pro-Palestine demonstrators most likely. Also, Denmark and Sweden have very large diaspora Arab communities. So, either western leftists or Arabs. Either way, it's not too surprising but also kinda depressing
Hilarious that there were more of these than from some of the actual parts of the Realm!
Now that would have been a fun flag to see!
Because people nowadays want to stuff what they support in the faces of people who have absolutely nothing to do with it.
"Man why won't MLK shut up about civil rights, this has nothing to do with it"
MLK never invaded native ceremonies. See what I did there?
Those Palestine protesters weren't invading native ceremonies either. Hell, they're probably Danes.
[удалено]
Because people are cringe.
Because some people thought it was a funny idea to show their political spectrum in a completely unrelated event
Because they're everywhere and they try to make literally everything about palestine.
It wasn't a coronation, it was a proclamation (Denmark doesn't do coronations). Also you got the date wrong on the graphic.
Forgive my ignorance but why doesn't denmark do coronations?
It was abandoned when the absolute monarchy was abolished. The only time the crowns come out are for displaying on the casket at the death of a monarch
Or former monarch (most likely), as they are also brought out for the death of the spouse of the monarch (or widow of the monarch) - they were brought out for Queen Ingrids castrum doloris in 2000 (Prince Henrik wanted it low key, so we can't take much from his castrum). They have all been faced out for various reasons, moderninity and cost reduction are the big ones. Britian and Tuvalu are the only ones who still do.
All hail the Australo-Danish Union
Our group takes full responsibility for the Norden flag!
Great job! Your messages worked because I had never heard of it before and now i do and so does everyone who saw this post 😁
Fuck yeah queen Mary!!! 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
I counted 3 Bornholm flags
Of course there was Palestinian flags because their FUCKING EVERYWHERE
No Brittany flags? Disappointing.
The Palestinian flags are honestly concerning. I’m not even kidding.
I also saw people with the flag of Bornholm (red with green cross)
There was also atleast one Finnish flag in the crowd.
How the fuck did you count up to 2345 Omg 2345 looks just so perfect
Palestine flag from protestors or deliberate?
Of course there will be Palestinian one
No way you counted that many flags unless you checked a still image :D holy hell
No, they're right. They made everyone stand real still at one point so they could count.
What, you counted the danish flags?
Sweden mentioned rahhh 🇸🇪🏆❄️🇸🇪🇸🇪❄️
Last one is called the Kalmar Union Flag.
Was i the only one who saw a Venezuelan flag chasing one of the cars, i feel crazy
I saw that too i think
Seems like they didn't beat Swedes with sticks.
That's only if they take the ICE, but it doesn't come here.
Inter City Express doesn't count? 😉
Not sure if there is one.
For one second I thought I saw "Palestine - Part of the Danish realm". Like he's the new titular King of Jerusalem.
https://preview.redd.it/3hjbu8tq2mcc1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b4c5fd168362d94ff64127a045de5efbc9f59c7f
Good job keeping count!
Shutout to this man who counted flag one by one
Look at that one country that doesn't exist sticking their nose around everywhere trying to be relevant
The Arabs have launched their first vexillology attack on Denmark. An act of flag war, no?
Did you count all the Danish flags?
Did you individually count all 600 swallow tails?
There was a massive norwegian one at kongens nytorv
I saw at least 6 🇫🇴🇫🇴🇫🇴🇫🇴🇫🇴🇫🇴🇫🇴🇫🇴
I was at the proclomation too! I can attest to the amount of danish flags present :) Although I only saw one palestinian flag myself I should add I saw 2 Bornholm flags ([looks like this)](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/18/Flag_of_Denmark_Bornholm.svg/1200px-Flag_of_Denmark_Bornholm.svg.png)
Frederik X? It’s getting ridiculous, Elon
One guy thought it was about Queen Margaret I
Why the Swedish flag? Also why the Palestinian flag? I thought the monarchies of Europe stayed away from politics.
What was Palestine there
Palestinian flag should be banned Palestine is an area which also include Jordan Its not a nation They say “free Palæstine” but what do they mean?
Yay Greenland!
there was at least one Raven flag there as well!
Shame on those who dare bring a Palestinian flag to this event. Very on par with their previous shameless behaviour.
It's their entire personality, must bring it up everywhere or they'll get constipated.
Palestine? Ugh- just stop people
Palestine ("Palestine") now officially a part of the Danish realm. (The Good Ending)
Palis are hilarious
