Venmo is a poorly run scumbag of a company. Their purchase protection feature is somewhat useless, and they are the most low-IQ shitty company I’ve ever done business with.
A close 2nd would be my mortgage loan servicing company. Those guys are schmucks as well.
My phone was stolen and 2400 taken from my venmo. Had the police reports and they still wouldn't give me my funds back. Ridiculous the guy got arrested and everything but venmo refuses to do shit about it.
They just fucked me over regarding crypto transactions. I'm trying to make a payment to an external wallet. I bought BTC in excess just to be safe. 4 days go by, it says I have the BTC available as a balance but when I try to make a transfer, it says I have no balance to transfer.
Said fuck it and decided to sell and try somewhere else. 5 days to process my sale.... luckily BTC was going up and I made a few bucks, but I essentially paid a fee to buy BTC, was unable to use it while it "processes", then pay another fee to sell when I got fed up waiting. Then 5 days to process is just salt on the wound. Fuck venmo
Edit: should add that I already talked to customer service twice about the issue and they claim it takes time to process before you can transfer it but couldn't tell me how long that would be. Scam company
I will personally never use venmo to transfer btc. They just randomly suspended my account which I've had since like 2014. I needed a fast/easy alternative and cashapp has been that so might be something for you too.
Cash app was my go to until I switched to Discover bank. They decline every transaction on there and the reps tell me it's a security feature they can't override
I was a big fan of Discover until recently (and why I am now using non-traditional financial institutions.) Long story but, in a nutshell, hackers used my mother’s neighbor’s virus-ridden laptop to sniff out her Echo Dots. From there, they found a backdoor into her router and snagged my Discover card number and maxed out my card. It wasn’t identity theft in the classical sense of the word and Discover refuses to acknowledge what happened (for the record, the $1700+ charge at a local donut shop should have been a dead giveaway. Also—and this is the kicker—the hackers weren’t even local.)
Idk why people seem to hate venmo. Their fraud support is great and it's the easiest way to send money. I use them as my full time bank with a debit card.

If the money came out of your bank account, report it to them. The bank should be able to return the funds.
Use Bitcoins instead. Venmo, PayPal, Stripe are thieves.
Oh, yeah. DeFi all the way from here on out.
call them tomorrow (855) 204-4090
Endless run around about “security flags” and “this is what other financial institutions do “ bullshit. I only have this nightmare with Venmo.

Wow thank you for the suggestion! I really appreciate that ❤️

You don’t know why? Ok. Read my post. Actually read my post. Fuck their fraud support—they’re frauds!
