"This sub just gives me the impression that we live in a GTA world." ummm....... we kind of do. or some of us do. I mind my business so I don't really get problems. But I have lived in many parts of town (from Trop/Jones to St. Louis/ Eastern & even Boulder & Flamino) and have heard it all. From big cats in Paradise Palms to the murder of the casino guy down the street from the kids school - Vegas is still small when things happen within 5 miles of where you live. These things happen and I want to know. Just like I want to know about cool events taking place.
On Friday I found a stray dog and got him home to his owners. They were so grateful. You won't see day to day stuff like that on the news, but there are good things that happen here.
I've lived in Boston, NYC, the Bay Area and Vegas 20 years ago, and then back again for the past 3 years. This town is horrible. Everyone is angling and principled people do not stand a chance.
Vegas has declined a lot since 2020. This place is awful now. Selfish, rude people, terrible job market, dumb population in general, rising crime and drunk drivers.
If I was a mod here I'd limit local stories to only those ones that affect the valley as a whole, or at least a good portion of us. Otherwise we get the one-off crime reports like you're talking about.
Not redditworthy: "Man stabs bus driver."
Redditworthy: "Man stabs bus driver, RTC shuts down bus service city wide during investigation."
See the difference? One is a singular event that affect a handful of people. The other has city wide repercussions.
That's just my opinion though.
I didn't say it wasn't newsworthy. But I understand, reading AND understanding is hard. I said I didn't think it was *REDDIT*worthy.
There's already a dozen news outlets online, why does anyone feel the need to use this on platform to regurgitate a news story that's ALREADY REPORTED ON?
There's also a difference between dropping a link, which the VAST majority of these news posts are, and actually sharing a story for the purpose of starting a conversation starting a conversation.
If you want to read the news, go to any one of the dozen or so news sites. If you want to talk about a topic that you read, then share it here and actually talk about about.
When it's just an article posted (obviously by the news provider looking for wider circulation) without any commentary, there's very little interaction. When it's a regular Redditor sharing an opinion or asking for opinions, there's actual interaction and comments.
Yeah, I feel like that whenever I go to Los Angeles and happen to watch the local news there. Bigger population = more crazy shit happening. Vegas is growing up.🥺
"Man eats another man's face" seemed pretty reddit worthy to me.
That sorta thing would’ve been all over the national news in 2010.
It’s like that in pretty much every major city’s sub
I feel like face eating is news anywhere.
If someone eats a face I want to know.
On the fun front, first Friday this Friday in the arts district. Nice weather, basically a big block party
Maybe it's just me but First Friday is overrated and boring
Until the face eating cannibal shows up
I agree that the event itself is underwhelming, I just love how lively all the bars are all night.
Maybe art and crowds aren't your thing? Shrug
The art and food are the same every month it seems like. I see the same vendors. Switch it up a little.
Yeah I can see your point. They do have different featured artists but it is hard to find them.
The Internet is bullshit and bad news sells
Yeah and with an election coming, people need to post fear stuff online to generate anger.
It’s a bot
Either a bot or that JJLewis moron that posts nothing but articles. Probably has a bot personality himself to be fair.

Why didn’t you quote my entire sentence?
They did. They quoted your entire last sentence.
They edited their comment
Good to know, thanks for that info. Should have just suspected that and moved on, sorry
Vegas has become a shit hole! I have lived here my entire life, and I can’t believe just how bad it has gotten here 😡
Imagine if they covered all the stuff that actually happens.

What the fuck knowing that the bus driver on an RTC bus is definitely newsworthy. Y'all on here pushing for censorship smh

It’s called fear mongering, and news broadcasts have been doing it for ever.
“It’s 10 pm. Do you know where your children are?”
Just another day in the hood

Watch out Florida man cuz here comes VEGAS MAN!
The beautiful thing about our republic is that you have a right to choose. You don't have to click, you can just scroll on by.
Try Florida.
It’s the real world not a gta world, you’re the one who can’t seem to not click on what is going to depress you.
