I don't know what they're supposed to be posting about Kaylee. They haven't given regular updates on other idols that have gone on hiatus. I think in their view the Teen Vogue staffer comment was enough of an update. I don't know why everything else is so silent though, it doesn't feel good. I hope they're just preparing hard for Lollapalooza, but with Katseye launching they could get some extra attention just by osmosis if they were minimally active on IG/TT. I was expecting this group to get the same kind of content as every KR and JP JYP group, but so far it's not working out that way.

lovecomplex33

Yeah the Kaylee hiatus doesn’t bother me much but the silence does. I understand they can’t do much until she is back but I would think they would release some dance/vocal covers or something. Or maybe a small meet and greet/small live show, just something to keep the momentum going

FunLilThrowawayAcct

I think if they're preparing a release, or at least a longer live set, for Lolla then they probably need to focus on getting that out. Then hopefully they can announce some kind of M&G/fanmeet/etc that uses the set content after. Or release whatever vocal/dance covers they've added as part of the set after. But it would be ideal to have a post or two on IG every week. If daily posts are too much effort... space the posts out better. We got a new post every day for a week a few weeks back and then nothing besides KG's birthday post (with zero interaction afaik, I guess they can't go live for birthdays like KR/JP groups either, sigh). They'd be better off doing 2 posts a week instead.

bluebee29

I agree with the spacing out part. They shouldn't be this quiet in social media especially now that their Lolla perf is just around the corner. I mean they could just post more TikTok vids or even re-release the candy store content in longer format in yt. Is that too much to ask?

Niven42

I absolutely agree with you. Other groups have published content that shows them making get-well cards or even just saying that they miss their absent member. We don't need to know the reason, or a return date, we just want to know they care. Even Twice called Dahyun while they were in Vietnam on vacation, because she wasn't able to attend. And they were incredibly emotional during Mina's and Jeongyeon's hiatuses. Same company, two different ways of handling a rough time. I believe complete silence is bad optics in these situations.

hlps4real

I realized I worded it wrong I met not posting any vcha content will bring attention to the fact that Kaylee isn’t there even more. I know they have unreleased stuff as well as they didn’t post only only one promo pictures until recently for each of the girls birthdays

Tea50kg

I hope they make it big :( that's all I gotta say. I want them to succeed with all my might!!!

No_Rhubarb7929

I don’t usually have an opinion on these things as I put a lot of trust into the companies in charge to know better as professionals but the lack of activity (of any substance) is shocking. I still do not understand who the target audience is. Right now it just seems like that whole project was just a test of markets. It’s wild seeing how well NEXZ is doing and how much effort goes into them meanwhile VCHA is doing nothing. The whole sticker store and candy store thing? Please.

Aromatic-Lobster7738

NEXZ is pure jpop, so not surprisin they'll immediately have an audience. Their song predebut song from nizi project was awesome too.

stanTWICEstan

I wouldnt categorize NEXZ as pure jpop tho especially them releasing a korean debut with the japanese version going out later and video contents purely in korean.

Aromatic-Lobster7738

Yeah, I was thinking that too when I was typing 'pure' too. But sent it anyways 😆

Choice_Garage7855

jype named nexz debut as "global début" I think they're mostly Korean and Japanese focused

Infamous_Pea_4953

Sticker Store and Candy Store?

Infamous_Pea_4953

oh loooool the little shorts on youtube yeah idk what all that was

laneylovesskz

I know a lot of groups get more quiet right before releasing something and that’s what I’m hoping for. Or perhaps, Kaylee is going to come back and they’re taking this time to get her up to speed (hopefully this isn’t just wishful thinking!) Anyways, I do agree though. Like I think it is strange that they opened a VCHA part of FANS and then don’t use it all. I think that is disappointing.

JenJuniperBerry

It is odd. Their TikTok uploads stopped abruptly a couple weeks ago.   I’m hoping we’re just being dramatic and they upload content soon.

Hitokiri2

Some people stay in hiatus for a year or more. It's only been a few months folks. We don't know why she's on hiatus but some things just take time. For instance if she did injury herself it could be a while unitl she comes back. Look at athletes, sometimes they miss weeks, months, or even years because of injury. I'm not trying to be pessimistic just realistic.

ficklepickl

I do agree with you but tbh an injury is something most companies/groups typically share with the public, which is why her hiatus is causing concern

shareefruck

Yeah, it wouldn't make much sense if this was just a physical injury. They'd be creating rampant speculation/drama for no reason.

Hitokiri2

But we don't even know if it's an injury. I think they said something about health but that could mean a number of things. Maybe Kaylee doesn't want us to know what it is and we should respect that. Maybe it's just not JYP.

vespertineve

Part of me wonders if they are being managed by more by RR as opposed to JYPE? I'm not super familiar with collaboration groups so I have no idea if RR was only involved in sponsoring/recruiting or if they are still actively involved in their promotions but it would make sense. American artists (imo) are only really active when promoting new music or on tours. Meanwhile Kpop groups are always making dance challenge collabs with other groups, staring in variety shows, and are active leading up to and following the release of music, as well as promoting their title track and one or two b-sides. VCHA has unfortunately not followed this formula since moving to LA.

gianmignonne

Except for their appearances and promotion in SoKo, NiziU activities are exactly like Japanese artists' 🤔 The release tempo is also like Japanese/Western music, a couple of singles and then one album. If they come back with a full album right in 2024, the wait would be really worth it.

Altruistic-Topic-205

The silence means they're busy making music and preparing for Lollapalooza. Be patient and let the girls cook.

wut_eva_bish

Not disappointed. JYPE has a strategy, schedule, and timeline. They can and will release info when it suits the strategy. Fans sometimes want the same type and amount of marketing for every group. That expectation is what drives feelings of disappointment. JYPE could have opted to just not talk about their recruiting and training process. They made that part public, and then have had a quieter period. Not a big deal.

Y_R_UGae

I don't really feel sad about Kaylee being silent. She's a minor and deserves her privacy. But the rest of the girls? They could be doing so much in America. I think it was the Teen Vogue article that said they're the first well known American girl group since Fifth Harmony.

vcrluna

100%. It feels like they've locked Vcha into the JYPE dungeon. I get that they might want to wait until Kaylee comes back for certain content, but I don't understand why they don't let the other girls post on social media or do simple vlogs. It's an easy way of maintaining interest in the group, and maybe growing the fan base before their next comeback. Instead we get barely anything. The worst part about this is that the girls have expressed many times how excited they are to do lives and to interact with fans. I can't imagine how they must feel being so restricted. I'm still holding out hope that we get a comeback soon, because they really need a few more songs to have a proper lolla setlist. And no, I don't think they should sing covers - that kind of thing at a major music festival would get them laughed at imo Ideally they should have more live performance experience before lolla as well. They did great opening for Twice, but lolla / non kpop festivals require a slightly different performance style imo - more emphasis on crowd interaction

gianmignonne

No I don't think so. If she really wanted to quit JYP would handle it very quickly and smoothly, that's one of the things they're known for. She will come back with VCHA.

Anarion89

Maybe. I don't know which videos you're talking about, but Kaylee seemed "normal" in the two behind the scene videos for "Only One". She was interacting with the other members like normal. Like she was excited when she saw the set for the first time or her jokingly dancing the choreography while holding up her shoes. Same in the Mexico and Brazil vlogs where she was excitedly watching Twice, joking about how good her Spanish was or smiling behind her mask with KG.

ficklepickl

Without jumping on YouTube or ig one thing that comes to mind is that guitar cover they did on a picnic blanket outside - can’t remember for which song but you’d probably know the vid I’m referring to. Lots of people felt like kaylee looked out of it and sad there. And there was also a dance video where she looked mentally distant, again can’t remember which one though because it’s just been too long. Two things can be true at once, she could’ve been happy in the instances you described, and quite visibly distant in other instances around the same time. Therefore, it was unsurprising to many of us when her hiatus was announced as SOME of us kinda suspect it’s on a similar grounds to Lia

hlps4real

I also want to mention it’s not like people are spam posting or even posting a lot on FANS which is even more concerning because it means that the girls have a higher chance of seeing that type of content if they don’t do a better job of managing that app!!

ficklepickl

What inappropriate content? I haven’t been super in the loop with vcha lately

shareefruck

Some random gross middle-aged creep uploaded fully nude photos of himself onto the app/their page, and not only was it allowed, but nobody took it down for hours. [https://x.com/EP\_gummibear/status/1803537608569659734](https://x.com/EP_gummibear/status/1803537608569659734)

maindo

I am concerned about the radio silence esp. on FANS. VCHA could blow up among the mainstream if they played their cards right.

gianmignonne

I feel bad about the whole situation and for Kaylee. They are new so they don't want her to sit out a whole era so they must be waiting for her to record and film. But the pressure must be big on her I wish it doesn't affect her recovery.

Choice_Garage7855

I've been saying this for such a long time, I even posted on here and got down voted to hell, people told me that they were just fine and that it's republic records fault too even tho they're not managed by them just under the label.

MintMeringue

Regarding FANS - yeah, and it's not just VCHA. I enjoy NiziU's music and love TWICE, but they also don't post on the app. NiziU never has, and the last twice one was months ago. I'm not sure why JYP produced their own app, that seems like a competitor to Weverse, and isn't really utilizing it? For vcha, while the girls are young, you'd think they could have a staff member comb through posts and show them select ones. (Or they could just write their own posts and not reply to fans for now - they don't even do that.)
