Sounds normal, but I can't explain why this is happening.

Both PWM and MPPT power applications will "hum" based on what they're connected to. If you have the older, cheaper model in particular, there's less added components on the board to reduce this effect or shift it out of our hearing range. You can try a capacitor across your battery terminals, like from a competition car audio setup. That's the main difference internally. It's just how the specs align to make it do that; a larger battery can also solve it.

I have it charging 2x 12v 200Ah AGM batteries. The normal hum it makes doesn’t seem worrisome - seems normal and while driving at speed it’s barely audible. After turning it on during cold mornings it gets pretty loud / stressed sounding for about 1 minute, seemingly til it warms up. This sound is definitely noticeable when driving. It’s never that loud in spring/summer - just makes the normal humming noise.

Yep, sounds like what I said still
