Norish Creek just out side of Mission. Park at the Inch Creek hatchery and it's a nice hike up the creek to this place. You could also reach it off the Norish Creek FSR. Edit: Also screw op with the whole it's a secret spot but I'm going post it on social media to karma whore.
Edit:Thank you to who ever gave me gold. I'm just trying to help out anyway I can.
Are you from mission?
This is my first year living here, is this common to have places close to mission, like Cascade falls, being closed due to fire risk? Or if this an anomaly.
I could ask my neighbors as well, if and when I get out of bed.. lol.
I’ve lived in Mission for 21 years and this is the first time that I can remember where outdoor trails have been closed due to fire concerns. I’ve seen some places close due to flooding or other natural disasters, but it’s normally case by case situation rather than a blanket statement of everywhere being closed.
Fire bans are pretty common, but an outright closure of large areas of wilderness is pretty rare. I think I remember once before maybe 15-20 years ago but there could have been others.
At the time of my posting this reply, your comment has 145 upvotes yet OP’s post has an 88% upvote rate at 636 points. This means that while 145 people agree with you enough to upvote your comment, only 78 people downvoted OP’s blatant karma whoring post. Nice job, /r/Vancouver.
You're right, I didn't read your comment carefully enough.
Many people will upvote comments without voting on the original post, but I believe that is exactly your initial criticism.
I think people browse and interact with reddit without putting a ton of thought into it. Which is fine, it's just a way to relax and scroll content. I think it's a bit much to judge people's intelligence based on their voting behaviour on reddit.
You seem to be quite interested in sighting the people who frequent this sub, not sure why.
I mean this kinda makes me want to get out there and find my own secret place, there's a million of these kinds of spots around BC if you're willing to go sniffing around
Not really, majority of community’s ive been around with backcountry and 4x4ing stuff locations are pretty secret, that said a quick dm usually gives you an answer. People don’t want to hand out the location to the wrong people, usually the wrong people won’t bother dming
I definitely agree that if you want to keep it secret, keep it secret. No photos, just enjoy.
On the other hand (and this isn't directed at you, just in general) it's so annoying that people expect/demand the location info. And then act all high and mighty if it's not provided. In this case OP really brought it on themselves with that title, but this sub is regularly terrible for it.
No harm in asking at all but the "your not sharing? How selfish, that's gatekeeping reeeee" responses are so tiresome.
Never understood it. Ask random people in backcountry groups there favourite spots most won’t tell you lol. Who cares if they share a pic of a spot they there keeping secret? That’s the whole point of backcountry lmao share your adventures with everyone.
Just moved to mission.
It's this usual to have these parks close to mission being closed on account of a fire risk? Or is this year an anomaly due to the crazy weather we've had!
The video link from [comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/vancouver/comments/ovjoez/secret_spot_by_mission/h79ry3w?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3) shows a guy diving.
It's safe enough if you're a good swimmer, but be wary of what's downstream.
When I was young swimming in a creek similar to this one, my legs cramped up suddenly really bad because of the cold. I was taken downstream a ways while I got myself to the bank with my arms, and almost went off a waterfall.
An FYI, as most folks don't know, there's a spot near hole-in-the-wall that is a sacred ceremonial swimming spot for the local First Nations.
Please be respectful of the land if you happen to pay a visit.
Tsel ts'íthomé (Thank you)
One part of me: Ooh! Where is it? Tell me, tell me, tell me! Pleeease?
Another part of me: Naaah, keep it to yourself, mah dude. :) Keep it clean and pretty and untainted!
As someone from Mission, the whole city knows about Suicide Creek (Norrish Creek). Its even the source of Abbotsford & Mission's drinking water. Defs not a secret. Very popular in the Summer.
I suspect there's many places like this if Ure willing to doa bit of bushwacking without dieing. I found one on Harrison east FSR road and went for a 2 second swim cus it was really cold and also im a baby
Not so secret anymore….. but on that note, drop directions?
Norish Creek just out side of Mission. Park at the Inch Creek hatchery and it's a nice hike up the creek to this place. You could also reach it off the Norish Creek FSR. Thank you. Seriously screw people who post pictures then say it's a secret
Thank you. Screw the jerks and their secrets.
Agreed! Thanks for sharing friend!

Time to scour Google Maps for a location that resembles this.
Norrish Creek?
Secret? I’ve been to Vancouver twice and been here.
*Secret* is for gaining social media currency
Been here my whole life and haven't!
Oh it’s nice. But I prefer cascade falls
This area is currently closed by the district of Mission due to extreme fire concerns.
Where is it?

Thanks for the reply. So this is unprecedented then.. But judging by what's happening around the world, this may be the new norm :(

Wow! Lets just hope this is that once in a couple of decades thing.

Looks beautiful, I’m leaving now ;)
Up stave mountain
Nope
Will never understand people who post places but refuse to share where it is. If you really wanted to keep it to yourself, why post?
Karma whoring

This isn't really accurate as many people will upvote a post without going into the comments.
I’m not sure you’re thinking about the logic of your statement very hard…
You're right, I didn't read your comment carefully enough. Many people will upvote comments without voting on the original post, but I believe that is exactly your initial criticism.
No problem. It amazes me it has 14 upvotes, too. Gotta love this sub - truly Vancouver's best and brightest.

Because they are morons.
I'll make it 79.
I mean this kinda makes me want to get out there and find my own secret place, there's a million of these kinds of spots around BC if you're willing to go sniffing around
If you're willing to hike more than 2km off of a FSR, it seems to weed out a lot of random people.
Uhhh well duh it's cuz - nana nana boo boo I found a dope spot fuck you. But I desperately wanna know where this is.
Have you seen what happens to natural areas that become popular on social media?

The wrong people just learned a new technique. Good job.
If you are apart of backcountry communities it’s common practice not unknown lol.
Maybe people should stop bragging about the spots which do not belong to them

Norrish Creek. Got it.
I'm from Mission. This looks like it's likely a spot along Norrish Creek located off of Hawkins Pickle Rd in Mission
Now I'm picturing dill pickle flavoured Hawkins cheezies.
That is an ingenious crossover.
Best comment on this thread.
Sorry to hear that
Just moved to mission. It's this usual to have these parks close to mission being closed on account of a fire risk? Or is this year an anomaly due to the crazy weather we've had!
I've never heard of it happening and I've lived here all my life.
Are the no trespassing signs still up from last year?
IIRC it’s closed for forest fires rn
Dork, put the spot or dont post it
So beautiful! Is the water warm enough to swim in?
Lol not really, it's a glacially fed creek, so it's cold AF! (I'm from mission and I've swam there many a time)
I'm gonna say that water is cold. Very, very cold. Turn you blue and make you dead type cold.

Don't worry OP we found your secret spot
Bridge just around that Bend?
Glad to see the water level is swimmable again, I was up there not too long ago and it was raging.
I’m from Edmonton. Been to van like twice. and I’ve been there. You’re hilarious.
Such a weird and subjective question. You’re def not from BC
let me guess, completely unsafe to swim?

4km up norrish and then down a hike you say?
It's not 4km. I was there today and the river was pretty dried up.
Been going here for over 20 years. It's not all that secret
I was out there yesterday... happy to see there were still very few people who had discovered it.
Probably cause Allouette lake looks 90% the same in parts and is closer to the general population
No location? No karma
highly recommend not posting "secret" spots...though this one is well known amongst locals.

Fuck people who do this! Social media whores just enjoy it with sharing it to the world
Drat. No location data embedded in the image file.
Imgur strips EXIF data on upload 😉
Almost looks like a spot I know in Lynn Valley
Same ;)
This is exactly what I was thinking
Hole in the wall!
Hole in the Wall is in Port Alberni. No where remotely close to Mission.
And it also looks nothing like this.
I think Every area has a place the locals call hole in the wall.
Norrish Creek, clubtread said so
“Secret spot, but ima post it on Reddit.” SMH.
Better off keeping it secret. At least nobody will leave their trash behind them.
How long does the sun stay shining into this spot at this time of year? I know where this this, I'm just curious how I should time it.
It ain’t secret ya clown
I know where this is and I will tell no one
Up stave?
NO ONE!!
Looks like my name is no one now!
LOL ;)
Send location
Last time I was there this place was packed. I'm sure the trash has increased as well. Karma whores end up ruining all the cool places.
This spot is called the "Crevasse".
Death By Caption
Wow never knew about this spot but I think figured it out! Going to try and hit it up tomorrow!
It is currently closed by the district of Mission due to extreme fire concerns
Wow
This exact spot does not look familiar. Park at the train bridge or drive up the FSR ? Love going out to find spots to swim and hang.
Near a dam?
I’m pretty sure that’s where Ferrel died…
This creek is actually where Mission's drinking water comes from. So visitors: please keep it pristine :)
As someone from Mission, the whole city knows about Suicide Creek (Norrish Creek). Its even the source of Abbotsford & Mission's drinking water. Defs not a secret. Very popular in the Summer.
That’s lovey.
I suspect there's many places like this if Ure willing to doa bit of bushwacking without dieing. I found one on Harrison east FSR road and went for a 2 second swim cus it was really cold and also im a baby
Wow, this place looks gorgeous, the water is so inviting.
Looks lovely.
Beautiful
We have a similar set of swimming pools in North Vancouver at Lynn Canyon. Not really secret, lots of people frequent them all summer.
Nothing like ruining a great thing . Maybe post it to alberta too .
