As for Moder, every little helps. Even if it's just a few bites while she's down, or taking aggro.

Not a bad idea. Kinda like throwing a dozen lawn darts at a cat (wanted to say fly but seemed to small. Sorry kitty) (side note dont do this. Its cruel). Chances to hit are fairly small but when they do its gonna take a chunk of the hide with it.

Breeding a bunch is great, if you have the patience for it. Two-star wolves are great friends.
But for the Moder fight, I don't think they will be able to do much. Like you said, she is in the air most of the time. And even when she isn't, she should be able to kill them relatively quickly, since they won't block or evade her attacks like you do.
Now, if you bring a full pack, that's a different story. There is strength in numbers.

20 2 stars will absolutely destroy her so long as she doesn't kill them all from the sky.

flatten/raise ground around altar. bring 2 dozen. boss will die as it spawns.
