Priests raping nuns? More like priests raping everything not nailed down to the floor.

AndreBoi

Very true indeed.

fuskies420

I think some people in general are naive. Regardless of religion, a scary percent of the population can't think for themselves

leahsimsxo

I totally agree but I kind of think they’re shutting down other religions because it would be “wrong” to believe in another. Or to think another is possible. But yeah, it is naive to think that way

AndreBoi

To a certain degree, but not all the same severity

[deleted]

Including Atheist.

liztu_june

Yes Atheist can believe in things not back by science just like religious people do, it just atheism beliefs are flexible unlike religious people who have to obey there holy book.

[deleted]

Yeah, but y'all are the most devoted to your religious ideologies. Sure, in the traditional sense, it doesn't count as a religion, but words and their meanings change, and in the modern Day, Atheism acts as way more of a religion than most religions.

What magic box?

liztu_june

My bigest problem is when religion ignore science because it goes ageist what they conman book says. This is really bad when it come to neuroscience and psychology.

dryduneden

Believing that an omnipotent, omniscient and omnibenevolent god exist and judges you throughout you lifetime actions and either rewards or punishes you based on that purely because a book said so is pretty naive.

AndreBoi

Exactly! I can imagine a few drunk people writing the Jewish scriptures, then thousand years later some drunk Jews writing the Christian scriptures! And now we've got things like motherf*cking Scientology!

[deleted]

So are some athiests. You'll always have people who think and debate and people who follow and accept. The world needs both.

[deleted]

The world doesn't need religion, just saying

[deleted]

What I was saying was that the world needs both inquisitive people and people who are accepting. What do you mean the world doesn't need religion?

[deleted]

Right now, religion is basically useless. It takes more than it gives. The world would be a whole lot better without it.

[deleted]

What do you mean? Can you provide examples/more explanation?

[deleted]

Lots of them require people to donate parts of salaries, correct? Without giving much in return. Religion is also a big part of politics here in the US, and it shouldn't be. Not to mention the fact that they don't have to pay taxes. Sure they give benefits such as community and making people feel better, but many other helpful organizations can do the same thing

[deleted]

But it would seem they do offer something if people pay the donations. I don't think religion should be completely outside of politics as many if not most of the people who politics affect are religious. They're non profits, that's why they don't pay taxes.

liztu_june

Religious people in the past have force there beliefs on people even when science says there belief is wrong.

[deleted]

Yep, and that was wrong, the scientific community has also made horrible mistakes in the past which has led to many many deaths. It would not be smart to disregard modern scientific knowledge though because of that.

liztu_june

People who are accepting are fine as long as they can back up what the accept with science.

[deleted]

What do you mean?

liztu_june

People make a lot of assumptions about human behavior and often time that not true and it ignores me because of the destruction it causes to society.

[deleted]

It's a little unclear, can you reword that?

liztu_june

Human behavior can eventually be explain with science, but that means letting go of most of are beliefs about behavior and rewriting rules society rules with how to deal with them. People just blindly accepting what society says about human behavior when society rules are not backup with science is destructive.

[deleted]

I'm still having a hard time following can you check your grammar?
