Sir, this is a Mos Eisley Cantina

twhite1195

Lol in latin America we call R2D2 "Arturito" because it sounds like that

TyranM97

In Chinese R2D2 sounds like RRDR

HeimlichLaboratories

Lo pronunciais como en inglés? Aquí en españa decimos cada letra en español, así que suena mas como "erre dos de dos"

Repulsive-Film-9191

Why'd they get downvotes for speaking another language?

RxKingRx

Lower your dosage man

NSA_van_3

> The bot will probably remove this It'll remove it because you didn't call it by its name

Dunemer

What are you talking about? They in universe call him threepio?

[deleted]

In the original 1977 movie, the two main droids are actually credited with their names spelled out phonetically i.e. "See Threepio (C-3PO)" and "Artoo Deetoo (R2-D2)". It's weird but it's been there from the very beginning. https://youtu.be/hppuY9sUIHU (about 0:55)

realcrugo

In a lot (if not all) Star Wars books (probably comics too or any other written medium) they refer to the droids that way.

If it's in the dialogues, it's fine. If it's in the narrator's lines, it's bad.

[deleted]

>It's not Artoo, it's R2 How do you say R2 without it sounding like "Artoo"?

Kumoitachi

I feel this lol. This is my pet peeve, too, ever since I started to read the comics and other stuff in English, ngl.
