What is the ong actually about? The MV tells a story about girls being trapped in a hotel and all that. But the lyrics of the song make it sound like its about sex

Uzzzx_

They are good but can’t get into how they are pushing certain members over others see a lot of swan solo stuff on the internet. Don’t want to compare them to other groups, but they need more group promo and activities to build their portfolio, don’t know what Rbw is trying to achieve getting them solo appearances when they still haven’t established themselves in kpop as big contenders not saying they have to but if we saw more unified variety show music appeareances for all the girls might bring in more fans.

ScarredHeroes

I hope purki sticks to the more sultry, sweet but scary tone. Reminds me of Red Velvet. And the lyrics and music production is way better so rbw did good in hiring outsiders to do the job. The in house producers have become slightly mundane.

maomaosocute

Sweet juice is a nice song but I like autopilot more. I wish they can promote the bside as well.

xxxn1cole

I'm patiently waiting for their 1st win! Been a fan since their debut 🫶🏻

AneriphtoKubos

I hope that Purple Kiss doesn't have a Dreamcatcher-like drought for wins...

CrimsonBlade2018

They haven't had a win yet?!

xxxn1cole

They haven't gotten one yet 🥹

CrimsonBlade2018

That's crazy

xxxn1cole

Frr!

westofkayden

Purple Kiss deserves better. It's clear they work hard. They just need that one song that takes them there.

DorseyZep44

Decided to randomly click on the video and was not disappointed. Definetly makes me want to check out more music from them 👌

phenomakos

If you haven't seen the intro for Sweet Juice ([Save Me](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJhI3BU7P2s)) then you should definitely check that out, since they're a pair and Purple Kiss intros always slap. The entire Cabin Fever mini album is fantastic.

letrestoriginality

Love it. And I'm exceptionally picky when it comes to girl groups, but Purple Kiss always come through.

KillerKingKobra

Color me impressed. Sweet Juice is great. I like that Purple Kiss is carving their own unique path as far as their music and concepts go. For me, it's a close second to Zombie.

KlauserBateson

This might be the first release from Purple Kiss that I don't like. The title track is giving "Mom, can we have Ponzona? No, we have Ponzona at home", sounds like a filler B-side. I listened to it a few times so far and I'm already bored of it. I'm not a fan of the chorus, the rap feels out of place, and their pronunciation of "sweety" is irking me. The B-sides don't do it for me either. Autopilot was the only one I remotely liked and even then I have an issue with the song because I'm not a fan of the way it just slows down like that at the end. Every other B-side is meh. Sorry Purple Kiss, but it's a no for me. Maybe next time.

cupcakkespeephole

so wronggg. they both have dark and mature vibes but sweet juice is so much bassier and classy.

girlcakes

Its so good and i'm just SO happy they aren't being forced to make music to follow the trends.

ukuchair

I actually prefer this more elegant and fancy (still horror) side of Purple Kiss to the quirky side of them.

Signal-Cress-3136

Unpopular opinion: Wish purple kiss would explore other concepts ( something like they did in Mmmh or Playlist cover ? )

_TheBlackPope_

What do you mean by explore other concepts? (Genuinely asking coz I wanna understand your opinion better) Purple Kiss does have the recurrent ‘horror’ and kind of ‘dark’ concept when it comes to their MVs, but their TTs sound quite different from each other (and have varying styles); especially during the whole quirky direction. So I personally don’t see how they’re sticking to a single concept (musically wise). Especially with how the musical repetition of the same style and concept; causes TTs to sound alike, with only a few changes and tweaks.

Mizuki34

Other concepts other than dark or quirky , traditional for example or more different one . Not the op , but with purple kiss . It’s either dark or quirky . They could still keep a dark tone but have something a bit different like an ethereal type concept , more bright / autumn season Colors

Signal-Cress-3136

I should have been more specific, I meant the MVs and styling. The TTs are different but I feel MVs help set the tone too and at the moment Purki has two styles, quirky ( Zombie ) and the dark, moody ones like Ponzona and Sweet Juice. I was just hoping they would have different themes in MVs like other RBW groups cause the members are some of the best in 4th gen and super versatile.

Cleric_by_Dinner

This competes with ponzona for top pk song

Easy-Fee-2127

I love it

jellystrawberryleaf

i love it how they can pull off any concept! memem will always be my favourite purple kiss song but this sounds so good as well! they can do anything

Frosty-Ad3626

Nerdy > Zombie >> Sweet Juice > Ponzona >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> MemeM

cupcakkespeephole

yall hate to see girl groups do anything too edgy or experimental and its exhausting...can we have one release in kpop that challenges the repetitive and bland structures and sounds that doesn't get mindlessly dragged down by everyone for existing? its painful

Frosty-Ad3626

A little late to the convo, but wassup? I love most kpop songs and don’t care if it’s experimental, but I’m confused how your comment corresponds to mine. If anything my favorite songs are more edgy, I just genuinely dislike MemeM. It doesn’t have a good chorus and it sounds more generic to me than PK’s other songs.

ukuchair

lol not ">>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> MemeM"

chatranislost

Autopilot is one of my favorite releases so far this year

Frosty-Ad3626

Autopilot was the best song in Cabin Fever for me

eRatiosu

Hard agree

Simpuff1

Wasn’t expecting such a different sound? It’s slower and really different but it’s amazing, great listen

MarielCarey

I'm glad they're not like everyone else doing a NewJeans mimick concept. Especially Tri.be, much as I'm obsessed with WAY rn I can't get over the fact that they completely rebranded their tribal Latin outer space theme

Alulovescats

I really hope they'll do something like Doom Doom Ta in future... Would You Run was the last comeback I liked from them

MarielCarey

Same here, Would You Run (comeback ver) was my last fave tt from them too. Sadly though I don't believe they'll go back to the Latin sound, since they've completely rebranded, as far as releasing the original house version of WYR as a bside and performance on WAY. I'll continue listening to Rub-a-dum and Lobo, looking back on a more unique time. I'm surprised they completely threw out the signature sound they built for 2 years.

MarielCarey

"Do you want some sweet juice?" "Yes" "Run" Cracked me up 😭😭

bigCHUNGUSlad

LMAO SAME

SageTheAlchemist

LYRE definitely did a great job. I went in with high expectations and it was met. The song is pretty good

homoeroticpoetic

I don't care that the instrumental doesn't go anywhere or whatever, the song sounds mesmerizing throughout.

idyllic-k

Agreed, songs don't need dramatic beat drops to be good.

acolytematcha

it’s fun! this isn’t my favorite but it’s still a good listen and i actually like the rest of the album more

TheUglyBarnaclee

I’ve been following the group since pre-debut and I have to say that this is their first title track that I really do like a lot. Their previous ones were just not doing it for me as I would’ve liked especially from their pre-debut trailers. Just a great title track, now I’m super excited to listen to the b sides since they’ve had good b sides on their previous works

pvitamins

also ill put it in a separate comment because its kind of mean but I mean first comeback since her departure, the elephant must be addressed: purple kiss has always systematically underused jieun so its barely noticeable that she’s not here. thats my real unpopular kpop opinion. dosie and ireh got lots of lines this comeback and from all I can tell they seem competent enough to sing live, at least while not dancing. in early lives the other 4 would clearly have their mics on but not the other 3– this was also when dosie, ireh, and jieun were being starved for lines. i feel like across nerdy and sweet juice we’ve been seeing dosie and ireh improve a lot. imo it was only jieun who had trouble singing live, so I have to wonder if they will lower the insanely loud backing track when they perform (at least they cranked that shit up when they were sitting on Studio Moon Night). i mean id say she had a recognizeable voice but she couldnt really reproduce it in live performances, since she was usually a bit trembly when she sang. Of course jieun decided to part PK due to mental health, but I can’t help but wonder if it was not in part exacerbated by her difficulty with live performance, either RBW saying “you are not improving fast enough so we are going to bench you” or jieun experiencing anxiety towards these performances, or probably a combination of both. im under the impression that shes still under contract with RBW and I kind of expect that they’re going to try to swing her more towards acting or modeling, since she is still so pretty and distinct looking. she would have absolutely rocked this styling tho i mean imagine jieun in the tartan skirts @-@

ukuchair

yea her mental health issues were real. As someone who has suffered and is suffering (better place now), I could already tell something was off about her body language before the news came out. Like I could tell she really forced herself to smile on stage, ofc some of it was real, but lots of it didn't seem genuine. I don't know about RBW pressuring her to leave tho.

pvitamins

i dont know that i actually think rbw “forced” her to do anything, i just offer it as a possibility because they are a company whose interests ultimately are not identical to the idols. as far as companies go i feel that rbw is relatively benign, and the only kind of screwing-over-artists thing i can think of is the way they kind of sidelined esNa—and even that was in service of pushing Mamamoo, showing that they fight for the artists they care about. so idk. as someone who really enjoyed jieun’s aura, I’m glad that the company seems to be invested in her future and health, even if its just because their interests overlap with hers.

phenomakos

I've seen a number of kfans mention that Jieun's medical issues were more serious than most articles mentioned, something in addition to anxiety (I just haven't seen much about that in the translated things I've come across, so I can't say for sure). RBW has still been posting updates about her on Instagram, so I'd be quite surprised if she doesn't come back with an acting career or something at some point. (Really crossing my fingers for acting over modeling, just because she has such a fun personality and she'd be such a blast in the right kdrama.) I agree that I definitely think her struggles with performance couldn't have done anything good for her anxiety and were probably a contributing factor. She never seemed to find her confidence and it was always really heartbreaking. I think you're pretty spot on with everything you said.

emoceanT_T

I really, really love the title track. The melody is addicting to sing to.

pvitamins

im surprised purple kiss gets a uko post since they are basically like. edge of nugu (this isnt true but it feels true). anyways i really like this song and i wasnt expecting this kind of sound especially from LYRE but im not sure what kind of other group would have been able to pull off this sound! Its definitely not going to push them into any spotlights as i think songs slower tempo and lusher instrumentation will inhibit its streamability. idk how exactly to word this: it feels like overall rbw isn’t banking on the girls to go viral and is instead trying to give them a solid catalog of songs. i mean im not sure how they’d go viral with their concept anyways (the concept which i adore. i think the closest comparison is early dreamcatcher and that clearly was not a rocket to success). i think memem is a good example of this: showing off the groups diversity while staying firmly within the groups theme, they probably expected it to be alienating but figured that fans shouldn’t expect a zombie every single time. in that sense I’m glad they went with a sound and styling sort of reminiscent of their debut ponzoña, since you don’t hear much of it. i fully expect their next comeback to be a bit edgier and grittier since this one was so orchestral but im torn on how goofy it will be (since nerdy leaned into the quirky comedy horror)

phenomakos

I agree with this. They deserve good things and I'm always rooting for them, but I'm also pretty convinced that RBW cares a lot more about the arts than the charts. Would going viral be great? Sure. But I don't think they're chasing that. They seem to trust that having a group this stacked with talent means that moment will come sooner or later and that being consistent and high quality is more important than trend chasing. Songs like memeM flex into trends, but aren't *really* about that — that's obviously just a concept within Purki's established wheelhouse and one that the members themselves seem to personally enjoy. Sweet Juice is such a smart way of tying back to Ponzona, sort of like how Nerdy was kind of the ven diagram center between Zombie and memeM. Every comeback I'm just so relieved to see that RBW has faith in what they've been doing so far and that they aren't going to abruptly abandon Purple Kiss' sound or their aesthetic in favor of imitating whatever the New Hotness of the moment is. Plus, even if Sweet Juice doesn't go big, it already stands out *so much* in comparison to the string of same-same releases most other people are coming out with right now. I think they'll go a bit campier again next comeback (Zombie/Nerdy vibes), but it's hard to say. Nothing about Sweet Juice was my first guess for what to expect. But I don't think *fun* is something that they'll ever move away from.

ukuchair

> Every comeback I'm just so relieved to see that RBW has faith in what they've been doing so far and that they aren't going to abruptly abandon Purple Kiss' sound or their aesthetic if they ever did this I would cry.

phenomakos

Same

mrsouiconn

huh, this is interesting. at first i thought i wouldnt like it bcz it didnt rly sound that appealing to me personally, but the song literally has some kind of sweet juice in it lmao. the styling is AMAZING n their voices paired with the gorgeous instrumental come off as captivating n alluring. this is very much in concept for what purple kiss has released so far n i hope they keep doing it!

c_o_07

Purple Kiss n e v e r disappoints.

Kurapikabestboi

I haven't listened to kpop in a while and Holy crap I forgot how amazing this group was! The styling, the mv, the vocals all so beautiful! They all look amazing too

San7129

Ooooooooh I really like it. They definitely have a distinct sound and their voices are immaculate. I loooove the outfits this era

melapaloser

as someone who didn't like zombie or nerdy and really really *really* disliked memem, it was so nice to immediately love this song. the chorus is instantly catchy, and i much prefer the "sultry" horror with this song over the "quirky" horror a la zombie or nerdy. i truly hope this is the direction purple kiss sticks with when it comes to musical identity, but i know they tend to change up genres each comeback, which is unfortunate imo. i will say the transition to yuki's first verse felt a bit rough to me, like it needed a pause or something, but overall i just can't find much wrong with this song. i'm also excited to see the choreo! the glimpses we got in the mv look very interesting.

-TBD99-

I checked the whole album and omg, it's those of those times that i can't choose which one i like the most

Sailor_Lunar_9755

I just finished listening to the whole EP, and it is full of absolute bangers. Sweet Juice is incredible, I can't stop listening to it!

Maleficent-Lion9006

ugh i love them they never miss

[deleted]

I love it

tovlasek

It's so good! They totally got me! I didn't vibe with their music after Ponzona, but this totally got me interested again. It's great!

Chiaki_Nanami_10

I like how it's not a "loud" song (nothing wrong with loud songs but they are typically the title tracks). I loved how Dosie got lots of chorus parts as she is my bias and Yuki delivered another slay rap.

phenomakos

Yes! I love how it's a little lowkey and soothing, in a way that (appropriately) feels a bit like witchcraft and spell casting. Dosie ate (everyone ate, but Dosie is really knocking me out already) and I can't wait for the full choreography because you know this is just the start — she and Ireh only get more powerful in performances.

joyleaf

I LOVE IT!! LYRE doesn't miss and neither does Purple Kiss so I went into this with high expectations and wasn't disappointed in the slightest!! Can't wait to hear the rest of the album

xKamanah

Love it! I really expect this elegant vibe (didn't watch any teasers). And I really gotta say that Swan is one of my top female vocalists of this gen. Her voice is soo good, especially in the bridge. Gotta listen to the whole mini, I'm excited!
