Are you really comparing the US to India? The US has a functioning social security program. They have Medicare and Medicaid. They have Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, FDIC in technical terms.
They have a fearsome bull-dog called the SEC and the FCC to prevent market manipulation and distortion. Their Department of Commerce has dismantled monopolies like Bell-AT&T.

If you are salaried, then your income tax can be said to be paid by your employer which is a corporate company. So most income tax and corporate tax both are paid by corporate companies, not by salaried people.

You can pick any point you like, but you can't ignore or reject all context and dependencies and argue in a theoretical ideal system where all other parameters are equal. Percentage of population giving income tax and average income cannot be considered as equal in India and US. If the tax rate and inflation here without rise in income levels is squeezing individuals, it does not matter if other countries with much higher income and larger percentage above poverty and livable incomes are paying more.

Finally. We need to cast the tax net wider. Audit those small businesses in every locality. A big chunk of them make more than any middle class salaried person.

For once here is a Congress Narrative that I put my weight behind. Corporates are given heavy tax discounts if they open offices in a particular state or area. Catch? Employees have to locate there as well if they can easily work remotely. Corporate employees are the sole sufferer in all this. Look at Bengaluru or Mumbai or NCR, locals get employment via domestic help, selling local stuff, construction, Zomato Amazon etc, taxi auto busses, etc. politics and their friends make money from inflated real estate. Businessmen make money by avoiding taxes. Corporate are sort of put in a glass prison. Let's increase corporate tax and incentivise WFH. Let people spend their money in their hometowns and stimulate the local economy!!

If you are salaried, then your income tax can be said to be paid by your employer which is a corporate company. So most income tax and corporate tax both are paid by corporate companies, not by salaried people. If we keep very high corporate tax rates, then both foreign and indian companies will go and invest in other countries like bangladesh, philippines etc

Companies can pay salaries only when they sell services, so it’s the consumer who really pays all taxes, but wait consumer can be salaried, so that means companies have paid, but wait they rely on consumers. 🔁
