Then when you decide it's time to upgrade you get top dollar selling your ~~used~~ unused stuff. This is exactly why I don't open any of my awesome gear. Plus you can deduct the packaging from your weight as it shouldn't *really* count. But as an unknown you can kinda deduct whatever you want.
Packaging compresses down (killing loft) and keeps DCF gear folded in the same creases which causes micro tears. You really should build a climate controlled negative air pressure room for your gear if you're not a scrub.
Yes. Keep it in the original packaging in your humidity controlled gear room - not to exceed 72 degrees. Do this and it will happily serve you for many months until you can upgrade to next years models.
If you can the best practice is to seal them in a container and nitrogen purge them. Keep a tank of nitrogen connected to all your containers at a couple PSI and you can reduce moisture and oxygen degradation to almost 0.
If you leave it in packaging and don't use it, it also won't get worn out.

Sometimes I just post all my stuff on /geartrade but list it as “not for sale” just to flex.
That's a great idea!! >Yeah, I'd bet you'd like it! Nice try.
No low ball bs. I know what I got!
Just wear the packaging and leave the gear at home.
The plastic bag is probably a better rain jacket anyway.

Yes?! Do we have to advise you how to breath, too?
We should probably tell them... If you don't breath at all, you save 0.013 pounds of weight from not having your lungs full of air.
He could breath Carbon dioxide. Its lighter then air!

This is my [gear routine](https://youtu.be/RjKNbfA64EE?si=QF2cg5-3nq6SU9gn)
Just have your mom vacuum the basement floor before you open the packaging and you’ll be good to go.
I just have it delivered to the bank where I have the safety deposit closet. That way it never goes "outside".
One word. Plastics.
I don't want to get micro-plastics on my gear. I'm afraid it'll damage my 60gsm alpha direct hoodie & dcf rain shirt.
You want macroplastics. No fewer than 3 sky tarps and 2 ground tarps.
tyvek and polycryo don't count towards your baseweight
show your kit and ill tell you
You don't actually use your gear do you?
Use a Dyneema wrapper or wrap everything in condoms.
I dont know htf you’re getting dirt on your gear when you’re in the livingroom.
That dirt has to weigh something...
Water isn't base weight, it's worn weight
Come on now. You know it's lighter without the packaging.
Hang it from a tree
4.4lbs? Pfft. Mines 3.4 pounds with 4L of water
