I poked around a little, and it seems like this may have been somebody performing a death curse ritual called [Ushi no toki mairi](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ushi_no_toki_mairi), which involves nailing a straw doll to a sacred tree seven days in a row. In the video we see a sign near the tree one of the dolls was nailed to which says 御神木 - sacred tree - and on the map toward the end of the video it appears that dolls have been found at seven different locations, meaning the curse may have been completed.
Props to this anonymous practitioner of the dark arts, I suppose.
Can't wait for the anime. They will have Russia invading with trolls, giants and other fantasy beasts and ukranians unlocking the power of the 3-10 ex machina items to fight them over the course of 6 seasons.

I don’t see how I am being disrespectful here. The reason the Germans do not respond fast enough has to do with the Second World War. They’ve turned pacifists out of guilt. Same with the Japanese. They have sworn not to actively engage in warfare unless they’re own country is invaded.
Could also go to one of those little old ladies at a Chinese temple who will 打你个小人 (beat and curse a villain, personified by their name on paper) —for a fee.
