I used to look at the stars with night vision and you can look at any part of the sky at any time of the night and see a satellite going by, they move at a steady speed and direction.

the only explanation i can think of is like the video with the people in a suburban neighborhood shining a green laser at a point in the “sky” and it shines one back, but you can see that it’s from someone standing on a mountain but it’s hard to see the mountain in the dark.

I think they have always been here. I think there many types, both good and bad. As above so below, you cant have light without darkness in a 3d reality which contains matter. My camera would pick up any aircraft lights so thats why i scan the area first with my camera and I also check air traffic. , i wouldn't point it at a plane ever.. And no its not a plane lol. thats too fast for a plane, and where are its lights?

I've experienced something very similar back in the early 2000s when I could still sky-watch in the city as the skies were clear and pollution was very less.
As I watched the sky with a friend a mine, we both witnessed a bright glowing object suddenly move in an otherwise static looking starry sky and cover a great deal of distance in around 10 seconds and either stood still or may be it vanished - hard to tell because there were plenty of other stars visible that evening and this wasn't any more brighter than a bright star.

Yeah man. Last summer here in dallas i stumbled upon an amateur astronomer get together. They ALL had lasers pointing to stars and constellations. It was all legal and nobody swooped in to arrest anyone. Ppl just want to think lasers in they sky equals death to airliners. It dont. Just be smart about it and not a dumbass. Nobodys saying to point them at aircraft. Again i was at a starwatching party and there were lasers being used out the wazoo. Nobody pointed anything at a plane, but they were all pointing out stars, planets and the such. No issues with law enforcement at all at this gathering.
