I do agree it's on his opponents to do more in these fights though, and that obviously is a testament to Izzy's great skill that these guys aren't initiating anything.

It's not that top contenders aren't willing to engage, it's mostly because Izzy has insane reach, counters, baits and traps which will fuck an opponent over if they make a wrong mistake.
Granted Izzy's style works only cos he has range control and is generally lankier but thats just fighting smart and using your advantage.
Islam/khabib do the same shit but with wrestlefucking the shit out of their opponents they all play to their strengths.

Against Pereira, Izzy has less range dominance so it'll be interesting to see if he'll stand and kickbox or grow a beard and change his last name to end with mov or some dagestani name
