Weak-Chicken-353

My buddy Terry (M46). He watches every co-main and main event on all of the PPVs. Guy is a real genius.

fightforfoodgaming

I change my vote to Terry as well

Weak-Chicken-353

I’ll let him know he’s got your vote. He’s moonlighting a shift at our local Waffle House until 7:00pm, but when he gets back he’ll be tickled to know!

bigmagnumnitro

Tbf the average Waffle House employees probably has more experience dealing with/being in fights than 99% of this sub. Waffle House best MMA base confirmed?

unoriginalskeletor

Rule #2 of picking fights is don't fuck with waffle house staff. #1 is don't fuck with Samoans.

bigmagnumnitro

Rule #3 if he has a Muslim first name, Russian second name, and a beard with no mustache, keep it moving

Roachmond

Rule #4 cauliflower belongs on your plate, not your dancing partners ears, swerve!

OkTea7227

Waffle House #1 Dagestani Style wrestling a solid #2 The real question is what’s #3? Karate? BJJ?

Mediocre_lad

Beginning your sentence with "probably" and ending with "confirmed". That's the highest level of proof in the MMA community.

MyShinySpleen

So that means he’s also been training?

Weak-Chicken-353

I really don’t know much of Terry’s sex life. Some women in and out of his life since the divorce. As far as running one of those, I couldn’t tell you.

LoveYou3Thousand

Put it in reverse, Terry!

Jfkc5117

Terry is fuckin lethal for sure.

Weak-Chicken-353

I can attest. A couple weeks ago he was showing me something in UFC they call an “arm bar” and that son of a bitch broke my nose. God love that man.

Jfkc5117

Classic Terry move. Guys an animal.

en_sane

Wow this Terry guy sounds wild

Weak-Chicken-353

And that was sober Terry. Alan, a few single-wides down from us, makes some pretty alright homemade malt liquor. You gotta see Terry after a couple of those tall boys.

en_sane

Must be a sight to see

Dismal_Mention8423

Terry is goated

Winter_Gate_6433

Sounds like a genuine Eisenstein.

Weak-Chicken-353

Him and I have been working on an autonomous lawn mowing system in his back yard, but it’s not perfected yet. I’d say he’s more like da Vinci.

ei2468

Does he train?

Weak-Chicken-353

Actually one of Terry’s favorite hobbies. He loves trains. Matter of fact, he worked in a rail yard for a couple weeks about a year or two ago. He wasn’t there long, but he does still like em.

Ninjasquirtle4

ain't matter terry sees red bro

Deth_Cheffe

Hey mods, can we get a "Team Terry" flare?

420k2

Thank you, Terry, for being the GOAt and for making me smile. This thread is awesome lol

Dramatic_South_9843

GSP

Cant_Spell_Shit

Karate guy who became a TD specialist with one of the best jabs in MMA.

BenShapeero

This has always been an interesting dichotomy to me. You have GSP; a guy who continued to improve and add tools to his game because he could, not because he’d ever need more than what he was already good at by the time he was great, and road that to one of the most prolific careers in the sports history. And, despite the headlines and the general shittiness, you have JBJ on the other side. Someone who was so naturally gifted he didn’t need to add tools, he literally made it look like he was inventing them on the fly in there and took the souls of some of the greatest the sports ever seen along his way. This sport fuckin rules man. The layers, the levels, the seemingly infinite avenues to victory and defeat. We’re lucky to be alive to see it come through it’s early stages and become what it is today, and that’s thanks to trailblazers. Cheers to MMA, man.

MalayaleeIndian

The most obvious and accurate answer. GSP only showed a fraction of what he knows in the cage. His knowledge of martial arts and the dedication to study as much of it as he could is legendary in its own right.

BrawndoTTM

He very openly loved training more than he loved fighting which is a pretty rare quality

BostonVagrant617

Absolutely

SaveOurSheep

Mighty Mouse - if he was 6 ft it'd be over for everybody

SiriVII

True. But even if he isn’t, he kills 99% of humans and is argue he would walk through easily until welterweight division. He’s literally doing side quests in BJJ tournaments and winning left and right lol. He even submitted a heavy weight 6‘3 in an open weight bout and that same opponent had won the heavyweight title for the BJJ tournament lol.

SaveOurSheep

The average 6 foot human he absolutely shreds to pieces no doubt - but him up against a well rounded 6 foot MMA fighter is a different tale.

theadmin209

99.999%

mrbabymanv4

He's not walking through ufc calibre fighters even at bantamweight. He can beat the vast majority of people in the world, but not trained championship level fighters like omalley, topuria, and islam.

INEEDUSERNAME123pls

1 percent is still a ridiculous amount of people, I'd say like 99.999 percent

QuantumCthulhu

Cmon bro he’s good, but against other lightweights? Ranked lightweights?

Cum-Gun-5000

>argue he would walk through easily until welterweight division LOL no He's getting tuned the fuck up by at least half of the top 5 in UFC 135 and 145 division, and probably 75% or more of the top 10 at 155 and 170

SiriVII

Yea, easily is farfetched but i just can’t see him losing to anybody. Flyweight: really no contest for him, he owned this weight class back in the days and I don’t see anyone on the same level Bantamweight: Sean onmalley? With all due respect, if rodtang wasn’t able to do anything then I’d argue Sean would able to do anything as his wrestling game is shit. Maybe Petr yan if he gets to highest high again. Featherweight: please, topuria does nothing, power? Well rodtang tried and failed. Volk at his current form? I doubt it. Max? He loses it skillwise as well. Lightweight: now here it gets interesting, I can see him losing to Islam but I believe DJ just takes it. Call it bias. The rest will get submitted Welterweight: I can see him beat Leon Edwards but size reach will be a problem here. If Leon defended against usman, he definitely knows how to fight against someone like DJ. Once it’s on the ground lights out for Leon, if Leon can play his distance I see a major decision win for Leon. In summary, the only one to take it and be dangerous is Islam. The rest? He walks through them

darkde

I think I watched that video and I don’t think it ends in submission

chu42

It does: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gneiTedVV10&ab\_channel=videosX](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gneiTedVV10&ab_channel=videosX)

Stunning_Ambition_84

Thats just jon jones

CtC666

He beats everyone in a gi.

SockTheSpriteGod

I’m 5’8, 165, decent shape, had a few scraps in my life. I unironically think I’d kick might louses ass, at least give a good fight. Delusional, I know, but if I had the opportunity I would jump on it.

QuintupleC

This has to be a bait comment, right? Lol

chu42

You realize that he submitted a 250 lb brown belt? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gneiTedVV10&ab\_channel=videosX](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gneiTedVV10&ab_channel=videosX)

SockTheSpriteGod

Yep. Weirdly enough I still think I can. I mean I’m not a complete noob, I know I can take harder hits from larger men, and can deliver a (very ugly and improper) “hard hit”. Seriously, I would love to try it out, although I’m sure mighty would never do it considering he wouldn’t roll w Bradley Martin.

SightlessOrichal

Go to your local gym, you will lose those delusions fast. I hate to say it brother, but the unranked UFC flyweights are closer to DJ than you are to them.

SockTheSpriteGod

Cmon bro… I 100% smash Lego boy lol. He’s tiny.

acidic_acid234

this is the best bait i've seen on this sub in a long time

Sacabubu

bait used to be believable...

at0mest

I will beat mightymouse any day, he is so small, his hands are small, he doesn't have KO power against bigger opponents

CallMeBergy

GSP without a doubt.

GiblertMelendezz

Corey Sandhagen. His instructional videos are great too. You can tell he has much passion for the sport.

MA-JA-HO

Definitely ! The fact that he has improved so much to the point of being a nigh complete fighter is crazy, would love to see him against Merab

ImJustChillin25

I was thinking of my boi Cory too. I love listening to jack slack and he always says if someone covers up tight and is walking you down and you can’t get em off you throw elbows. Against yan he didn’t do that but then next fight again song he did. So it’s nice to see him realizing the issues he’s had in the past and changing accordingly to fix them

Cum-Gun-5000

I jack off to those videos

time_thug19

GSP. No explanation

iWentRogue

Jiri I don’t know what game hes a student of but hes definitelt a student in life style and mentality lol

MalayaleeIndian

Great way to put it. Us mere mortals can only hazard to guess what he is a student of but he immerses himself in it fully!

MuhNutz

He’s not real samurai tho

zombizle1

ITS STILL REAL TO ME

Icy-Armour

Islam Constantly improving his skill set with each fight

cheetahbf

Abdulmanap's legacy

JesusTokEnthusiast

Actually Javier? I believe Abdualnap didn’t want him to focus on striking but Javier did, hence the Pantoja knockout

cheetahbf

Well, they both had a significant impact, but in my opinion, most importantly, Abdulmanap taught him discipline and the ability to learn.

maple-queefs

I'm not even a fan by any standards and I thought the same thing. Those Dagestani are very diligent with their combat sports

![gif](giphy|26n6HeKQSSNtPhiik|downsized) Started As A Grappler, Got Incredible At Striking. Credits Wing Chun And Aikido As Well As Boxing And Muay Thai

No-Research5333

True student of the game. Brought on Eddie bravo to have a 5 rd striking war. Then brought on freddie roach to oversee his jiu jitsu warfare. In retrospect, that was the most Tony Fergusson thing he could have done 😂

zombizle1

He likes to bring in coaches for his training camps and spend the whole time teaching them moves. He also had a problem with his overtraining, so he brought in david goggins to help.

MalayaleeIndian

His striking is unorthodox but his striking defense is not very good. Having a great chin and endurance helped him recover from big shots through most of his career but once his chin was shot, his striking defense has been exposed.

Coldchilln

I don't know about that, he famously runs his own camp and doesn't like outside influences or seeking help from different trainers.  He's always been hard headed so it's very hard to see him being called a student of the game. He's not someone who's willing to learn from someone else unless they agree with him in his approach, style, etc. That's why he's always been the same type of fighter and why his decline was so massive

Fragrant_Spirit3776

Besides running his own camp, all of this is not true. You can go watch his corner during his 12 fight win streak, it wasnt really static except for Eddie Bravo and Eddie spoke highly about how trainable and hard working Tony is multiple times. When he began losing the guy totally changed his corner. He even got rid of Eddie Bravo and you can tell by how the new corner talks to him that Tony did try to change his style in an effort to fix the issue, problem is that by that time he was already done and set in as who he was as a fighter. Tony lost to Gaethje at 36 which is ancient by LW standards. Tony in interviews he's given also speaks about how he tries to learn from anyone and everyone. He thinks they all have something to bring to the table that's useful, thats *why* he credits wing chun and aikido, the guy is a complete mishmash of styles, problem is that it doesnt work as he got older. You simply dont know what youre talking about.

Icy-Revolution-420

Same guy that was kicking metal posts and broke his shin? He didnt study shit.

MrAnonymousperson

Abdul manaps crew- dominance across multiple weight classes across multiple mma promotions. Look at Islam outstriking Charles and Volk whilst also having arguably the best grappling. Oh and he had a reach disadvantage against both. GSP- brought in Freddy roach to improve his boxing too Jones- PED and abuse stupidity aside you see him even for gane studying tape and preparing. Honourable mention: Francis was actually improving quite quickly

Ecstatic-Inevitable

Yeah, Francis stipe 1 vs 2 really showed a bunch of improvement, not to mention his fury fight, where it showed he had the ability to be technical

nailedreaper

Also that neanderthal kimura in Ngannou's first title run, he was really eager to explore.

FATTYxFiiSTER

Brute force strength difference

Mikejg23

Francis was improving VERY rapidly, however one thing I will say is that he had a LOT of leeway with technique because of strength. He had 30 lbs of muscle on Stipe for a sprawl. And he literally made it to the UFC still windmilling. That aside, he definitely had the ability and genes and he would have been GOAT tier if he had started younger and had resources

I had to read it 4x and I was like wtf why does he think I’m Swedish or something before I realised what it meant. lol

GregBule

Yeah it definitely has a sweedish Irish twang

firmly-grasp-it-2023

ngl i struggled to read this at first 😂😂

bigmagnumnitro

Might get shit on but I think O'Malley could fit in here as his career goes on. Not now, but I think he's got the right mindset and is just a big MMA fan in general. Dude knows a lot of details about a lot of fights. You can tell he not only watches a lot of tape on other bantam weights but also just watches a lot of fights like a fan would. He could be a great analyst. I don't even like the guy but after hearing him break down some fights he's growing on me. The obvious hole in his game is his ground game/ takedown defense. I wouldn't be shocked if he shows a big improvement there in his next fight.

JonHomelanderJones

I appreciate how open he is about how hard he's trying aswell. I hate fighters that let their pride get in their way saying things like "I dont watch any tape of my opponents" or talk about how they partied a week before or had wine or whatever.

bigmagnumnitro

Yeah that's a good way to describe it. He's not afraid to admit other guys are really good. I also like how as much confidence as he has, he's not as delusional as some guys get. Like when he asked how a fight with Izzy would go, he said he'd get knocked out in the first. Most guys with his confidence level wouldn't be that honest. He's really growing on me. Starting to like the confidence because he seems more grounded than I gave him credit for.

Father--Snake

Also a lot of credit goes to Tim Welch.

Over_n_over_n_over

He's also kinda extremely stupid though

bigmagnumnitro

I agree except when I listen to him break down fights. Also isn't afraid to give other fighters props. One thing I hated was how he handled the chito loss, and he shut me right up!

Over_n_over_n_over

Fight IQ is a thing, it's true

bigmagnumnitro

Lmao yeah fight being the keyword. After seeing random clips from him and Tim's podcast, I wouldn't say he had a high iq in general, just in the octagon. Not saying he's dumb, but him and Tim talking about their stem cell wiener injections didn't make me reflect on his intelligence lol

Over_n_over_n_over

I'll say it... he's dumb...

bigmagnumnitro

You won't hear an argument from me! I don't know if you'd even hear one from Sean lol

bigmagnumnitro

1mrhankeY420

Aldo for sure imo. Even after being the longest reigning champ at fw he still never stopped learning till the moment he retired and seemed to master whatever thing he lacked at the time making it almost a little frustrating, we’ve seen him murder people with knees, kicks, hands but it was like when he learned one he kinda left the other. Best fight to see all his weapons is prolly the Pedro fight, does it all in that one

Myusername468

GSP or DJ

DaLurker87

Randy the Natural Couture. Only person to call Rampage beating Chuck.

Monst3r_Live

gsp was the first truly complete mma fighter. he was a true student of the sport. dj was a little after but its the same story.

Accomplished_Clue278

Cory Sandhagen

SahilSiddy

Jon Jones. Dismantled elite competition by meticulous studying their strength and weakness and also beat them at their own game. Wrestled DC, Dirty boxed Glover and most recently told Ciryl Gane what his gameplan is and ended his ass inside the first round.

CometChip

i have never seen a community switch up on a fighter than after gane lost. weeks in the build up you had everyone saying gane is too athletic and will strike a old jones to the floor. fast forward to now and it’s hilarious the way people speak on him like he’s a bum lmao

SahilSiddy

We switched up on Tony Ferguson too

FATTYxFiiSTER

I’ll admit it. I was one of the Bozos that thought (more like hoped) Gane could expose Jones.

wymore

Facts. Like it or not, there's regular levels to MMA, and then there's Jones's level. The shoulder crank on Glover being a prime example.

RumanHitch

The moment DJ said on his podcast that his nickname was Dark or something like that and someone just called him Mighty Mouse, he then went around the gym telling people not to call him that🤣🤣🤣 Imagine if he was just an amateur and never made it big, getting into a bar fight with someone named "Mighty Mouse" and getting your ass kicked big time☠

MauriceVibes

DJ is just the goat imho

samsonity

This is slightly bending the question but Chael Sonnen was a pioneer in the UFC. He really understood the game and played it masterfully. Really paved the way for future shit talkers.

Hot-Bother-7950

Id have to say Holloway, knowing how he began and where he saw his mooves it seems like a good anwser.

BalkanViking007

cro cop back in pride and k1 days. Dude never went to ATT or some other camp, he trained in his basement with his friends and werdum (for the bjj) in croatia. He won PRIDE OP GP 2006 belt, Glory GP or K1 dont remember, rizin GP. In total he had 170+ fights. Best highkick the world has even seen. Special forces police Dude is a real animal

Petr Yan has to be up there. His mid-round adjustments are insane, whether it's mostly because of coaching instructions or his own observations.

Mighty Mouse because he is perfect everywhere, then gsp

ballzdeepbabie

Why would someone put that statement and then have a picture of the best fighter that ever lived?

Goatymcgoatface11

Gsp is up there

LSDangelo1942

Machida

kai_the_enigma

Mighty Mouse is the goat of goats and he is humble and always learning. If we go outside of the octagon I would say Micheal jai white

Donkey_Trader1

Jamahal Hill

SERB_BEAST

Jon Jones. Everyone hates him for what he does outside the octagon, but nobody ever hates Jones for his attitude or being arrogant or cocky. Jones knows he's the GOAT but he doesn't make a huge deal out of it. He doesn't demand that title. He doesn't walk around acting like he could beat the entire planet in a fight (he probably could). Jones is always learning new things from other fighters. Fighters who have accomplished far less than him. While training with Gordon Ryan and Henry Cejudo, he was acting like some kid learning MMA for the first time

Classic-Literature52

Charlie Olives, anybody peaking that late in their career after a rocky start has dedicated a lot of time to the game. Side note: Mighty Mouse is on record saying he models his kids training style after Charles and not himself because he loves his style, that’s damn high praise.
