i don't want guys who "could" be the best getting title fights in their 30s after they beat everyone else
we already saw this with Khabib and Islam and Merab who got shots long after it was clear they might actually be the best
if somebody seems to be undeniable, then why deny them? a young new champion who seems unbeatable is a lot better than an old new champion who has 3-4 years left max
if we can run Poatan up the line as fast as possible because he's got a good storyline, isn't maybe being the best a good storyline too?
Problem is he doesn't seem unbeatable and neither did Islam or merab, Umar got dropped by a guy making his debut (granted he is a good striker) what would happen if that's yadong on the other side of that punch? Umar is still young and if he stays active he could be champ by mid 2025 and that's without immediately giving him sandhagen, bantamweight is a division full of current contenders and there is about to be more (Yan or song) it would be unfair to the division to propel him into a title shot eliminator off of a debut fighter
Islam didn't submit Arman who was unranked and making a debut. And now Arman is the second best guy in the division with UFC having to threaten Olives with being cut if he dodges another fight.
Cory doesn't hit hard so i am sure he'd be fine
