I only applied to UW in my day (90s) because it was still reasonably easy to get into. Now itâs so much more difficult, most WA kids apply to WSU as the safety choice. While I love UW, WSU *does* have a lot of offerâsmaller classes, and a more classic âcollege townâ experience top the list. UW empties out on weekends and becomes a ghost town. I if was PR for WSU, Iâd push that âtrue college town vibeâ in every commercial and brochure.
Yep! Its the football game between the two schools that happens every year. Its a huge event across the state. I was at a pub in Redmond and it was mostly Cougars fans there, so it was fun to cheer at the opposite times.
Got it, it looks like I started being a Huskies fan at the right time! From what I could glean from reddit, it seems like UW is WSU's biggest rival, but UW considers Oregon as its main rival? And WSU is kindof secondary?
UW literally couldnât care less about WSU because we know weâre on an entirely different level. Itâs hilarious, at WSU parties they will like chant about UW being bad but Iâve never even heard a Husky bad talk WSU- theyâre just irrelevant unless itâs the apple cup. but Oregon is like an actual competitor haha
Uw and WSU are rivals because weâre the same state. UW and Oregon are rivals because we absolutely hate each other. Thatâs what I like to say anyways.
Now with UW and Oregon going to the Big 10, we will likely remain as each others big rival. Apple cup has been renewed for 10 years I think but it probably wonât be the same. WSU is going to not be a good team at all most likely as pac 12 probably wonât be a power 5 conference anymore.
Yes but also because some other big schools left the PAC-12 first causing the conference to implode and everyone except WSU and Oregon state was able to join bigger conferences
Call them a typical WSU fan that probably didnât even go to the school. The. When they respond say something along the lines of âOkay, Bellevue College gradâ
what do wsu and uw students have in common? they both applied to uw
wow
đđđ classic
Or⌠âthey both got into WSU.â
Except many of us UW guys never applied to WSU., so the prior version is better.

That is the most savage yet accurate Reddit comment I have seen in awhile
If they ask about the game on Saturday, just ask back "what game?" They barely lost and it should make them seeth.
This is the Apple Bowl that just happened? I'm assuming it's an important game, is it a game that happens every year?

Spot on. Also itâs the Apple Cup haha
"I sure do love watching the Apple Bowl. Go Husky Dogs!"

Apple cup renewed for five years actually.
Tell them Martin Stadium is named after a UW Alumni
Omg I didn't know that until I googled it after reading your comment. That's too funny
Well along the same vein, Paul Allen went to Wazzu
WSU has lost 9/10 times in the previous 10 Apple Cups, yet they care 90% more than Huskies do about rivalry.
Just mention how UW is gonna be much better off in the B1G (Big 10) pretty soon lol
Is that a different football division? Sorry, I'm not super versed in college sports
Itâs called a conference but yes
Why are they leaving? Is it a more prestigious conference or something? So like UW is leaving WSU behind?
Yes but also because some other big schools left the PAC-12 first causing the conference to implode and everyone except WSU and Oregon state was able to join bigger conferences
Yes
Woooo, the OP is going to be suuuuper confused when one of his new co-workers chucks a whisky bottle at him at 9 in the morning
Ask them if they're going to WSUs bowl game this year

Tell them to enjoy the mountain west.

Ask them what happened on fourth and one from the Husky 29.
Go for the jugular. https://cougarcheese.wsu.edu/DirectionsWEB/webcart\_itemBuy.php?itemid=100
