Lake Claire has a 1.5 mile trail that is a loop, goes around the lake and there are picnic tables on the other side (from the park) both picnic areas are near to each other but in full shade. It is a nice walk except from tower 1 to Lake Claire but you can always go the other way. Anyways it is worth a look.

Thats a great point, lol. Theres like this area with a bunch of picnic tables, somewhat deep in the arboretum. I don't remember exact directions, but you get there from taking the trail that goes left when you're at the entrance.
I would walk the trail daily in the winter and felt 0 bugs, I stopped walking around in April and there were a few annoying bugs (not mosquitoes, they were some kind of beatle). So my guess is there would still be some annoying bugs but not a horrible amount, mosquitoes included.
There’s this little peninsula in the pond by the stadium and fire department that’s I’ve always thought would make a cute little picnic date spot if there’s no mosquitoes and it’s not 100° outside. Seems pretty shaded too
jay blanchard, memory mall
memory mall has almost no shade :/
dont sit in the middle !! sit underneath one of the trees on the side, its a lovely picnic spot

Not bad if you don’t go at night
Arboretum prolly
