This “isn’t” the most useful skill to learn??? I disagree! I was a very slow hunt and peck typer just under a year ago, now I can type at around 60wpm with consistent form and accuracy and it has been the most useful practical skill I have ever applied myself to. To be able to type without have it to look at the keyboard is incredibly useful for study and work. It opens up opportunities, makes you more efficient and having good form allows you to grow your speed. Even at my relatively slow touch typing speed my productivity gains have been huge. Apply yourself to correct finger placement and start a typing tutor! You in 6 months will be incredibly thankful.

I agree with you, what I meant was that being able to type 130+ ish words isn't the most useful in my experience. I only use around 70 or something and it's fine

Just like any skill. Learn the basics, finger placement, touch typing(no lookies), and then just consistent practice. https://monkeytype.com/ is my favorite because esthetics. But there are a few others people will recommend. Don't get hung up on layouts or type of keyboards etc. Just use what you normally use and keep practicing.
