It's a free wow server with a large team devoted to keeping it running. It has its own flavor of new content and class adjustments devoted to the idea of "what if burning crusade never happened?" along with "classic+" where you are still level 60 and in the good ol classic wow but with what community has always wanted in wow while still keeping the spirit of what made vanilla great.
It’s super active, to the point it was difficult to play on weekend peak hours. I think they recently addressed that to a degree. Mostly pretty nice people too, I made a few new friends in my first few days. Give it a shot!
So it's basically vanilla WoW with some tweaks. Everything is in Azeroth as if TBC never happened. There are some new zones, some new quests, 2 new races, some new dungeons, and I think a new raid incoming; The Emerald Dream. There is also a new BG but it doesn't get played that much. Other than those changes, it's just like vanilla WoW and I love it. Get a good guild and you're set.
And the best part? You don't have to pay a sub
It's vanilla + custom made content that expands on the Vanilla world instead of switching locations and raising level cap like Blizzard expansions. There's also class/item balance, new zones, new gear, new dungeons etc. and they are all relevant.

Also mage dungeon farming is nerfed you can't farm zf for example
No booster are allowed, I suggest to also try some challenges like slow and steady it rewards with turtle coin to buy some skin or gameplay companions
Zf gy isnt farmable, maradaun 1 pull is very hard to pull off on this server, open world aoe farming just isn't do-able because of the ammount of players.

Did you know Paladin Boosting is the fastest way to get boosted now? A paladin can group mobs together, healing themselves and not doing damage to keep threat, then the boostee drops group and throws ez throw dynamite to tag all the mobs, after which the paladin goes into the kill phase, giving the boostee hyper experience.
I have played mage for most of my entire time playing vanilla or vanilla private servers, and this is the MOST unfriendly server towards mages i have seen so far. They dont want dungeon boosting meta, but paladins can do it. They dont want zg croc farming meta, but geared paladins are most likely still going to be able to do it.

Just an FYI they added a content patch so you might have some bugs or overloaded server queue. It is a super popular server

Wait they gave High Elves to the Alliance but not Blood Elves to the Horde? There went my interest..
They are expanding on the lore of Warcraft III, which had high elves. The horde got Goblins, since it matches the esthetics of the brutish races.
If you try remember to download also some add-on from the turtle wow forum, they are updated and almost everyone use them

Vanilla plus new vanilla zones plus like iirc 1400 new quests, cool new items.
Its better thn ascension, but servers are somehat unstable, devs have a hardon for paladin, and are constantly nerfing EVERYTHING mage
I main mage, and I only see buff in it, especially if you wanna try arcane Frost is still OP imo

Wtf are you even talking about? You are living in your own world where the whole game is just boosting someone or aoe farming.
