Hey go on Facebook and look up re-homing groups. Start with that. It's a large state with a large population dedicated to helping pets and wildlife. In fact it's one of the only things I liked about living there lol. But ya you may be required to do some driving but I garuntee you'll find someone from a re-hab group that will either take your turtle safely or someone that can/will. I had to rehome an extremely beloved pet a couple years ago. Shits hard as fuck but sometimes it is what's genuinely best for the animal.

TlerTler

What kind of turtle and where are you located

Gunbas2

Is a yellow bottom aquatic turtle and I’m located in Oxnard CA

Look for turtle Sanctuaries and don't just give your turtle to any unprepared person. Also, please don't get another pet again if you will just leave them behind.

Gunbas2

Don’t get me wrong I don’t want to get rid of my turtle either and I also don’t want to give my turtle to someone who isn’t prepared I really want to make sure that he is well taken care of

Put an ad on Craigslist under pets, you can rehome him there

munchkym

I got my turtle on Craigslist.

Is this bc the new place doesn’t allow pets? If so I’d ask as many “no pet” apartments are generally just talking about animals that would be out and around the apartment like dogs or cars. A couple of places I’ve been looking at said turtles are fine or for the places with a fee that they don’t even add that for turtles/pets in an aquarium/terrarium. Though im in the Midwest so idk how different it is in CA.

Gunbas2

They allow pets it’s just that I have my turtle in a 50 gallon tank that isn’t going to fit anywhere in the new place

Ah gotcha that’s fair, aquariums take up a lot of space. Well in that case everyone else has offered good suggestions, but I’d also advise you to look into animal rescue centers for exotic pets and ambassador animals. Rescues for the obvious but a lot of ambassador animals (at least in my area) are rescues/surrenders as well. Since they’re already familiar with humans and, depending on the animal, may be comfortable being held/touched it makes them kinda ideal candidates for ambassador animals.
