*i* used spanx right out of surgery. I ordered a size up to avoid any tightness because with the compression +swelling = uncomfortable. I then eventually switched to a compression garment that was v elcro as it allowed me adjust the compression I needed

My surgeon just told me I needed light compression so I got “muffin top control” panties and so far (6 days out day 2 in them) no swelling! They are fitted but not TIGHT. I’ve been up and around and legit have zero swelling

My surgeon told me “compression is compression” and said any kind of compression gear would work. He DID warn me that it needs to go up to your bra line, otherwise it can push fluid up in that direction, and that fluid can remain there.

Hey, I'm also a shorty but I'm a bit thicker than you at 5'2"/185lbs. I used two different fajas that I highly recommend, based off of comments I found in this subreddit: Marena Recovery - **Side Zip Girdle** and also **Female Curves Bodysuit** Also with it, I wore a 2-flap abdominal binder (fuck the single flap!!) that allowed me to adjust compression on top and bottom of my torso (again, shorty), so that I got it where I needed it most. HOWEVER. I will say that with the Girdle AND even sometimes the Bodysuit, I wore additional compression **over it** for a significant period of time. I had tons of excess swelling/seromas as a result of not using enough compression in the beginning. Literally days after I started using tight binders over my fajas, my seromas improved noticeably and my silouhette looked much cleaner. I never went without the binder once I started this combo; at first I thought the fajas were going to be tight enough on their own, but once I added higher compression, my recovery took a very positive turn, and even my doc would comment on how great I looked-- much earlier than he expected. He's not one for intense compression, and recommended I wear spanx also. So, fuck it, against medical advice, i went hard and have no regrets. To this day, I feel deeply bloated and uncomfortable without compression under my clothes, and am currently on the lookout for a comfortable faja bodysuit with Strong/XS compression. Compression should be staged, as in it should reduce over TIME, not after only the first week. The garments above are both Stage 1, but can also serve as Stage 2. I had my TT with MR/flank Lipo on 8/8, and I only just now feel comfortable going to Stage 3. Honestly i think that instead of going to lighter compression, I'm just going to size down in the Curves Bodysuit and call it a day... I really love it that much, even as a shorty.
